ok ladies.... i get about 4 letters a week... why are you NOT getting mail??? Im gonna tell my SR to light a fire under your SR's butt ..... today is XRAY day.. hoping for some good news.....Oh havent had a phone call in almost 3 weeks..
Lostsoul..... have you heard from your SR??? wondering how things were going for him... hows grandma and the doggie... I know you live far away from them... just wondering if you have heard from her too...
I'm new to this group, and I think you'll understand when I say I'm sorry to be here. My son was just moved to this ship because of multiple stress fractures in his legs (2 in one leg, 3 in the other). He was supposed to PIR next Friday, 1/27, but now it's looking like it could be as far off as sometime in April. Sad doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling for him. I can't imagine how hard and disappointing this setback feels. In spite of everything, it is a blessing to be able to come to a place where other Mom's understand exactly what you're going through. Thank you God!
Thanks Barb! No nothing... Hoping for a letter in the mailbox today. Did I read somewhere that the recruits on this ship get to make calls on Sundays or did I dream that?
Patrick'sMom - I understand how you feel. We received a very brief phone call on Tuesday evening from our son. Bone scan showed two stress fractures - one in each leg so he was transferred to the RCU for at least 6 weeks. His PIR was supposed to be 02/10/2012. He was worried something like this might happen as he had been on Limited Duty for 7 days without significant improvement in his pain.
So sorry to hear about this injury with your son too Sharon! Perhaps our boys will become friends as they're going to be there together for several weeks!
Hi momma's. I am in San Diego for my daughters wedding. So very disappointing that my SR "could" have been with us :/. But my SR should have a doctors Appt today to retest her iron level. Good news is that this 10 days of light duty gave her foot that much more time to heel. I have been away from the mailbox for 3 days- can't wait to get back and open it up.
Phillies... congrats on your daughters wedding.... Hoping your SR is feeling better with TONS of iron in her blood..
SharonW.... soooo sorry hun... My SR has been in RCU since 12/28 and has stress fractures in both heel bones... freaky i know... has been on HUGE doses of calcium and healing nicely.. He got pulled 2 weeks before his PIR and it SUCKS. sorry his pain hasnt really subsided yet... hang in there momma... hes' getting the best care ... prayers to all our injured SR's ...
Thanks, Barb and Patrick's Mom. It would be great if our sons become friends while in the RCU. Kevin is a Nuke. We received two letters from him this week although they were written before his move to RCU. So I will have to wait to learn more from him about his first days with this ship.
I got 2 letters from my son today, but they were also written before his move to RCU. He anticipated that he might be headed there though, and he sounded VERY down. My heart just aches for him and Mom just wants to make it all okay like we were able to do when they were little. This is so hard!
Patricks Mom.. HE NEEDS LOTS OF MAIL..in my last letter my sr said "i hate this place and i don't know how i'm holding it together, but i am!" i wanted to drop everything and drive up there just to hug my SR.... hang in there sweetie.. HUGS..
Barb & Phillies, I think we've got an all points bulletin out to everyone we know to please send get well cards!!! Hopefully he'll be flooded with them!
Got a letter Friday night, and it sounds like my SR has FINALLY moved from Phase 2 to Phase 3. He's been at Phase 2 since the beginning of January, so this is so exciting for us. Hopefully only two or three more weeks until he is out of RCU. Of course, that is wishful thinking on my part. Can't wait to get a PIR date and have him finished with basic.
EXCELLENT news Navy2011mom....from what i can figure out Phase 3 is alot of Physical therapy...My SR is in Phase 4 STILL.....DRIVING HIM NUTS... need a PIR DATE just to ease my mind..... soooooo happy for you!!!
I am so with you Barbydahlzz. Just having an ending date would really be a relief I think. How long has your SR been in Phase 4 now? I was thinking it was a couple of weeks, but I can't actually remember -- man do I feel old today!!!
Can someone please explain the phases in this ship? Is a higher or lower phase # closer to full healing & PIR? I have no idea what phase # my SR is in. Also, how often do they get to call while they are in RCU? Thanks!
There are 4 phases. #1 is basically on crutches and 4 is back to running. My daughter was able to call every Sunday while in phase 1-3. Now she is Phase 4 ( no phone calls)
Navy2011.... i think he's been phase 4 for 10 days or something. Haven't spoken to him since new years eve... SUCKS.. they almost got to call last saturday but were in Lock down because some others tried to Haze someone...UGH.. PLUS Phillies statement of phase 4 no phone calls...makes more sense..thanks girl
Phase 4 is bitter sweet- they are getting better but you lose the weekly updates. :/ I hate it! My SR was to go to the doctor last Friday to get the go ahead to complete her run (she had low iron). I would like to know if she got the go ahead.... Ugh... I know how frustrating it is to wait and hear nothing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I believe they only ones that really know how we feel are on this page. Thank you everyone!
We received a letter from our son yesterday. He figured he would give us an update on what happened to him and what he'll be doing for the next 6 weeks. As of January 18th, he was in Phase 2 and has Physical Therapy Monday - Friday for an hour. He said RCU s pretty different from his old division as it is more relaxed while still being Boot Camp. My son told us it is actually possible to advance in training while in RCU which he plans on doing.
While he is glad he wasn't separated from the Navy because of his legs, the hardest thing for him was having to leave his division and tell his friends about the ASMO.
My son was pretty sure they'd get a phone call this weekend - if everyone is good. Well, no phone call, then I read Barbydahlzz's comment about the attempted hazing. Hazing is not something to take lightly. Recently, there was an incident at one of the universities in Florida in which a young man died as a result of hazing. He also wrote that the division got in trouble two days before he got there for ignoring the chain of command. Good grief.
Now on to my daily letter to my son. We are doing our part to keep the Post Office is business with all the cards and letters we send our SRs! Positive thoughts and prayers for all our SRs.
We haven't received any calls from our SR since he went into RCU at the beginning of January. The wait is really frustrating, but it really is great to know that everyone here is in it together. Thank you to all of you.
Oh ladies, as much as I so wish you had no idea what I'm feeling, I'm so glad you are each here. The encouragement we can provide each other to get through these most difficult circumstances is invaluable. I pray our children are giving the same support to each other to help themselves through it too!
I'm here for u ladies. Navy2011 I'm sorry Ur Sr hasn't written . My Sr writes in the dark sometimes... If it weren't for this page I think I'd go insane . Love u ladies and I thank god for u all. Sending speedy recovery angels to all the injured SRs
Barbydahlzz, my SR writes, he just hasn't been able to call. I KNOW I would be completely crazy if I didn't at least get weekly letters from him. I would just love to get a phone call so I could hear his voice and know that he really is alright. I'm sure it's just that MOM thing, but I know I would feel more relief in hearing his voice.
SHE PASSED HER RUN TODAY!!!! She will join another Div for Battle Stations tomorrow. Friday a Sailor :)
Finally!!!!!!! I screamed into the phone. Sad thing is that I didn't even recognize the Area Code - it had been so long. Perhaps I get to hold her this weekend - a momma's wish come true. (She was to graduate Dec 2)
Oh my goodness Phillies, I am sitting here at work at my desk crying after reading your post. I am soooooooooooooooooo happy for you and your girl! Praise the Lord for His healing over her!!!
Congratulations Phillies!!!!! How wonderful!!! I'm so happy for you and the chance to see her this weekend. My heart is soaring for you!
Okay Ladies... Let's keep the prayers coming for the rest of our SR's to get there soon. WOW!! Today is Wednesday, and Phillies will see her daughter on Friday! FANTASTIC!!!
@ Phillies: So happy for you :-) Congratulations!!!!!!!! its been a long road. Sorry I haven't been on lately alot of stuff going on but life goes on :-) So happy for you and your daughter Congrats mama.
OMG Phillies....HOOYAH!!!!! I bet you screamed!!!! YAY... that is FANTASTIC NEWS and we need some good news around here don't we... My SR has been PHASE 4 for a week now. got 2 letters from him .. a bunch of rambling..hahah as of last saturday, still in lockdown so no phone call :-( Patricks Mom... I think he knows your son now...
got another letter.... written 3 days ago, has been running A lot and said he "beasted " the run... the slowest you can run a lap is 1 min 7 sec. he runs the first one in 48 sec. then the next day his laps are averaging between 30 seconds and 39 seconds.. he's sooo excited he KNOWS he'll pass his final PFA... also said he might be FFD this friday (which is TODAY)or next friday.. HOPING for today..... getting excited
Congratulations on the GREAT news Barbydahlzz!!! I'm so excited for you. It sounds like he really is well to be able to run those times! Hoping you hear that he's FFD real soon! Congrats!!!
I have waited a long time to say this but .... We have a Sailor! Pshew... That is a ride I would like to never take again! She loved Battlestations but admits to being a bit rusty with some things. Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers! My prayers a Re with all of your SRs
For what ever reason there were no tears. Now when I actually see her and touch her they will most def start flowing! I sent her phone to her and she was one Facebook. That was a nice surprise.
Phillies .. yay fb. Makes it seem real.
Monchita... I haven't spoken to my Sr since new years eve . What day in training does Ur Sr have to go back to.? Mine goes to his 5-3 day
Oh, Phillies... hearing about your new Sailor is an inspiration to us all. Congratulations!!! I know it seems like it's been a long time coming (since every day they are not well seems like forever for us all), but she is finally there. That really is a joy for all of us to hear, I'm sure. It definitely gives me hope that I'll be able to say that same thing in the near future. I'm so thrilled for you. Thank you for letting us know the wonderful news. You've made my week start off in a very happy way!! Congratulations again!!
Monchita... Wow, your SR is in Phase 4 and running. It shouldn't be long before you get the call that he's out of there and back to finishing boot. Praying you hear very very soon!!
Has anyone heard from their SR recently (I haven't)? Also, last week something was written about a 'lockdown' in the unit. Does anyone have any information about this, such as, what happened, how does it affect our SR's, etc? Thanks.
Thank you for the updates. My SR has written at least weekly up until he went to the RCU. Our last letter from him was written the day after he arrived there. It would be nice to know how he is progressing, if he's friends with your sons, just stuff a mom likes to know. My husband keeps reminding me no news is good news - ugh.
