Sandra, was that your video of the ice skating? Pretty cool though
Catsmom you definitely get bragging rites, just awesome news for your daughter
Coach Sheila glad you got a long email, always makes us happy hearing from our kids and knowing they are doing alright
my daughter is finally finished her cranking. Yesterday she should have changed to her new berthing and divison - AO. She is glad to be getting back to a "regular schedule". Hope to here from her today and hear more about her move.
Yippee! Catsmom congratulations...AGAIN! That's what we want for them, to excel and be rewarded for hard work! Yippee too tall Joan, congratulations to your daughter, she will meet my son eventually. He's AO too! Keep Calm and Drop Bombs! IYAOYAS ...The things I learned since being a Navy Mom!
I found a Facebook page of the Commander of Carrier Strike Group with lots of updates and pictures of HST- look under " Commander Carrier Strike Group TEN (CCSG-10).
My son in Hawaii got a phone call from our Sailor yesterday.....a 20 minute call!!!!!. It's only the 2nd one since he's been gone...once to his Mom over the holidays and now to his favorite Uncle..who adores him. (maybe I'll be 3rd)?
Anyway, he really enjoyed the time in Dubai...and says he LOVES the place. He and his buds were preparing to go back to the ship and "hit the road" again. Son says he sounds great, happy, upbeat and having the experiences of a lifetime. He's looking forward to "home", however, and anticipates a nice 2 week shore leave.
He also gave the expected date of arrival back in Norfolk but I won't mention that at all for security reasons.
My Son was SOOOOO happy to hear from the Kid. They are best of buddies and have been since Sailor Boys birth....ha.
I get emails from him...but would LOVE to hear his voice.
At least I can start making plans for be there when the Sailors come home from the sea.
Hey, all. I'm a single dad with squatter's rights to being a mom, been on NM for a while. My sailor just got assigned to the HST, to report to Norfolk in a few weeks. Looking for best information sources.
ktrsb CVN-75 welcome. This is a wonderful site and we are very supportive of each other If you are on fb there is a Truman page there that will get you info and pics of our sailors in action.
another snow day from school today for me. calling for 6-8 inches here in PA with about 3 inches of new from overnight and it is pouring as I write. Even though I don't like making these days up in June, fresh snow is just so beautiful, peaceful, and calming. Have a great week ladies and ktrsb CVN-75
Good morning,
ktrsbCVN-75, welcome! Dads are always welcome too. We are one big family! Hope you get the information you need.
GrandmaBarB, so happy your son got a phone call! I have the date on my calendar, Have made hotel reservation, and now to book a flight! How are you doing, haven't seen you posting for awhile.
We have some rain! Yea! Not much, but will take any we get! Keep up the dancing..LOL too Tall Joan, it sounds beautiful!
Have a safe Monday everyone!
Catsmom yeah for rain for you, even in small amounts. My sailor told me that she got a new app on her Ipad that is counting down till homecoming. Trust me, I have it down on my calendar as well. CAN'T WAIT
hi too tall Joan, I know we can say the date here but did your Sailor give you you the exact date or just and idea? It will be here before we know it!!!! YAYYYY!!!
Catsmom....doing fine. Have been really busy since returning from Maui visiting my son. In addition, I've had serious dental work over the past year and THAT'S winding down finally...but am spending what seems like hours in the dental chair;. Plumbing problems at the homestead here which has had men dragging in and out of my house for weeks......
Then there is that issue of perhaps moving to Maui.....lots of research, lots of thinking, it's a huge step...and is irreversible...so doing my due diligence on all that. Then daughter relocating to Ohio..(miss her), ....just busy.
ktrsb.....welcome!! In the case of this website, "MoM" is a state of mind, not a gender. I'm a Grandma and they let me hang out here.
Best sources for Truman stuff that I've found:
Their Facebook
The Truman website (really important stuff there....like phone numbers, addresses and lots of other stuff)
I have put a "google alert" on my gmail account to send any news articles that mention Truman or any of the ships in the strike force directly to me. It's pretty good.
Stars and Stripes have good information on all the forces including Truman.
Ummm found out my sailor's grandma is on here somewhere!!! :-O I wonder if it's one of you and I didn't even know it. He and I are super OPSEC wary so I don't really know how to figure it out but let's just give a "Yay!" for the possibility that we're supporting each other and didn't even know it!!! And another YIPPEE for the closer and closer we're getting >.< I feel like I'm going to explode with joy and excitement. Where did I leave my time machine to fast forward this!!!!?????
Yippee! Welcome ktrsb! We are very fun here! Happy Dancing, rain dancing, daydreaming of...who knows what! Homecoming will be here before you know it! Look forward to meeting you all!
I emailed the communications liason. She replied quickly saying their server was down, so if your Sailor emailed FRG, send to hstfrg_rsvp @yahoo.com. I still haven't received anything, but my son may have not had chance to send them information. Hope this helps.
trish6794....I'm a grandma but don't think I'm the one. Current Sailor has no "special" back home....he broke up with her in the fall. Hope you find the right one. Perhaps where your grandma is located might be the way to go about it. My Sailor is from southern New Jersey right outside Philly.....
GrandmaBarB sounds like you have been very busy, sorry about your plumbing problems. And your daughter relocating. I know how much you will miss her. The decision to move to Hawaii, so much going on. And the dental work..Yikes, I hate the dentist..LOL. I hope everything works out for you soon. Can't wait to meet you and everyone here. Hoping the date doesn't change!
Trisha, I love the song!
Ahhhh yea good idea well his family lives in Illinois. And I don't know that she found her way to this specific group I just mentioned the site to him last time we spoke and he mentioned that he was familiar because his grandma was on it.
Good morning everyone, stay safe and warm today. Cool here, 41 right now here. Praying winter sticks around for a little while here, and spring shows up for all in the snow.
One more day closer to Homecoming!
Getting excited. Just hope we know what to do and when to do it for the homecoming. Our sons baby was 7.5 months old when they depolyed. He is now 13.5 months old. The baby has changed so much and I can't wait for their reunion.
I am not on here often. Thankful for the resources given and a link to our loves. As always, I am praying for the safety of each of our loves and the entire fleet.
I'm so excited also. It makes me really happy looking forward not just for myself but for everybody else. I am excited and honored to be around the energy that that homecoming will be. I'm sure to be embarrassing myself by crying tears of joy for myself and everyone around me.
JK Family: Awww that is a big age difference!!! That will be too cute. I'm so happy for your family!
I will tell you ladies this about the Homecoming! If there is any way possible for you to be there, be there! The experience is one I will never forget! I have never felt so proud and patriotic in my life! My son's a Nuke so he was one of the last off the ship, which I am glad of. It allowed me to watch all the reunions and there weren't too many dry eyes there that day-I have never seen so many people crying such tears of joy-laughing, hugging, kissing, crying, jumping up and down! I told my husband I still want to go just to see it all again. My son's plan is to fly back early, take a leave, go back to port and help set up for the Homecoming and take first watch so others can go on leave right away. he's excited cuz he has always wanted to fly off the ship and will get to do so. Really if we do go there's probably not even a chance we will even get to see him or maybe we will for about 5 mins if he comes off the ship in a hurry to say hello so it's not really worth all the time and money for that reason, but again like I said it's so wonderful to experience I would love to again! Ladies promise me something--please video tape it all, take pictures, and post it for those of us who won't be there so we can experience it secondhand.
Yippee! Hello everyone! Staying focused, patient and positive here! Thanks for your positivity Carol Ann! Yesterday was my husband's birthday...our son called him and wished him well! I'm happy dancing and it wasn't my call! My husband is an OTR trucker, my son is a deployed Sailor. So being with my family is so,so important! My heart is swelling just thinking of seeing that day! Stay safe and warm everyone!
Pam and cleveland121988: I do not KNOW for sure when this will be myself. I thought I knew -- PEEPS time-if you get my gist-when it was supposed to be, but my son in a recent phone call said no, after that. He said that he couldn't say (he follows the rules) and that they have changed it slightly because too much talk about it. He told me Mom if you want us to come home all need to stop talking about it or the Navy will change it again. The Ombudsman will be the ones who will contact us. They will send a pkt real close to the time. Usually about a week before they officially announce it which isn't much time for those of us who plan to go to the Homecoming. You can try contacting them yourself to see if they will let you know. Their contact is in the newsletter we receive every month. I think if you look back through these you will find the exact address. Remember the OPSEC rules ladies please as I want to see my son as soon as I can! Have a great day! I slip slided to work this morning after yet another snow storm...and more to come this weekend they are saying. i am so over this winter!
Carol Ann....you are sooo right. We must control ourselves here...and elsewhere. It's hard to do when we are so excited....but, the FIRST priority is the safety of the Strike Force and the thousands of personnel aboard those vessels. It isn't "homecoming" or seeing family or returning....
The Navy will NOT put the Truman force in harms way. Every bit of information we share here is exploited by those who would do harm. We are at WAR..and those "out there" who wish us ill will are always on the lookout, planning how they can kill Americans, Brits, French and others.
Truman can stay as sea for months.....or change ports at a moments notice...or "disappear" off the radar anytime. Don't jeopardize our troops anywhere. What was a slogan in other wars applies here too "Loose Lips Sink Ships".
When the time is right, when the Navy decides it's OK, the dates and times, location and other information will be given out. Until then, chew your fingernails, twist your hair but for crying out loud...stop talking about it.
GrandmaBarB: I just LOVE your no-nonsense way of saying things! you are blunt and honest! You go girlfriend! Hey, while I am thinking about it I just found out that my nephew and his wife are going to be stationed in Hawaii for the next 3 years. He was in Afghanistan for 2 tours and now is finishing up his time Stateside! Maybe I will just have to pay them a visit sometime in the next 3 years and try looking you up to boot! LOL
Thanks for putting us in our place again GrandmaBarb!! What would we do without you!!! Its just once people throw that Homecoming word out there you know us Excited Mamas just go Crazy!!! Love you ladies!!!
Instead of signs, I think I am making us all t-shirts - below is a design I worked up for my DIL - I will then do different ones for my husband and I with different sayings and graphics of course. I removed my son's name for the design below....
Carol Ann oh well if you pissed them off. But thank you for posting cause I emailed them since I have yet to receive the newsletter. My sailor emailed them my info in November when the info was first posted.
