Good morning:)) important information posted on the Ombudsman Facebook page regarding homecoming preparations:)))
  • Carol Ann

Pam, It is fairly easy just a matter of knowing what buttons to push so to speak. I cannot explain it to you this way but I am sure if you could get someone to show you they would. If I can do it ANYONE can as I am far from computer literate believe me!

Which of you ladies are planning on going to Homecoming? I (as you have heard a gazillion times from me already) will not be there as my son is planning on taking his leave a little early (flying back off ship early) then will be back to help prepare for the Truman's Homecoming. He will be standing first watch too and won't really have time to visit again and we will have just seen him. I would so love to come though and experience it all again but it really doesn't make sense for us to do so and financially  we would be best not spending the money as it's been a tight winter for us with unexpected major plumbing repairs, etc. to deal with and very high heating bills (what a surprise). Anyhow I want to re-live this experience with you gals still all the way from Ohio, so I am asking you to keep me in on your plans and would love to see your pictures and videos! I am getting so excited for you all and for the return your loved ones at Homecoming and of my son on his leave beforehand!

  • Coach Shelia

Yippee! Carol Ann I love your posts! Enjoy the time with your Sailor and thank him for helping with Homecoming! My husband heard me yesterday giggling yesterday...so I showed him what I posted and what you said! He says:"I knew you were up to something, giggling like a school girl"! Pam...I'm learning to do it from my cell phone, and I can't explain it! My smartphone is smarter than me for sure! Stay focused, patient and positive everyone!
  • Carol Ann

Thanks mirca23, I checked and read what was posted. Getting excited for us all! This is a sure sign. The Ombudsmen are probably getting tired of us all asking them questions so they thought they would post something officially to calm us all down-lol! Well now they have fired us all up! Yay! Can hardly wait--we are definitely in the down turn now!

Coach Sheila: Thank you! Glad I got you to giggle! Lvoe to entertain and make all laugh!

  • Bigmama

Hi girl! I am trying desperately to find the Ombudsman Facebook page you are referring to and can't do it. I sm not very fluet with Facebook but not a complete idiot with computers. Help! I just bought plane tickets and hotel reservations(refundable of course) and need some reassurance .
  • mirca23

Hi! Look under USS Harry S Truman Ombudsman Team.
  • Sherryl

  • Carol Ann

Sherryl Love them and can't wait to get mine. I ordered a wine glass for me and a beer mug for my hubby.

jacicat: So sorry to hear this. Just tell him to go work out and wear down some of that pent up energy and try to put his mind on something else for a while. It will be soon. I can't imagine being on that ship for so long like that. I KNOW I would be going bat crazy too! Glad the military is shortening future deployments!

  • Carol Ann

Ladies, I have a new Cabana boy for those of you that like Cowboys or  the Country look...Ride%20em%20Cowboy%21.jpg

  • Carol Ann

Sheila, Get out the M & M's.  Cat's mom go hunt down Sharoncede and tell her to give us our Cabana boys back that it's time to share! Get out the Red boa we are gonna have to start rehearsing SOON!

  • Catsmom

Save a horse Ride a Cowboy! Found Sharoncede..she is buried under a mound of tax forms..got the cabana boys and the M&M'S ...

Pam I wish I could talk ya through it, I do better showing, sorry.
    Love the wine glasses!
jacicat, I am sure they are all ready to come home, I know my girl is, but she is staying upbeat. Carol Ann is right, he should workout his frustration.

So my girl has emailed the FRG 3 times with her list for homecoming, it keeps coming back to her. Contacted them, they gave me another address, it went back to her too...any ideas?
  • too tall Joan

    Sherryl love the glasses
    Carol Ann...NICE!!!
My daughter emailed the ombudsmen twice. It didn't work. Email to them from the ship wasn't working. I emailed the ombudsmen myself & finally got added to the newsletter. You have to give them your sailors info
  • Catsmom

Already on the FRG news letter, this is for the Homecoming list to get on base.
Good to see you Sharoncede knew cabana boys and M&M'S would bring you here..LOL LOL LOL
  • Coach Shelia

Yippee! The excitement is building! I'm not sure why our Sailors need to send emails. It seems like the FRG would have the information for emergency contact? Hurry up and wait...hurry up and wait! LOL Stay focused, patient and positive everyone with prayers!
  • Navymom2

Carol Ann - you have me blushing!  Too hot for me.  I'm more of the Michelin Tires Man type or Pillsbury Dough Boy.   Although I don't think I could handle them in sexy attire.  I"ll take them holding out a donut for ME.  HA, HA. Thanks for making me laugh.  :)

  • too tall Joan

Pam when I post pics I right click on the pic & then hit copy. Then go to where you want to put the pic, right click again, then paste. I hope this helps
  • Bigmama

GrandmaBarB- thanks a bunch for the Ombudsman links! Getting excited for the homecoming!
  • pam

too tall Joan,  Thank you so much!!  Excited to learn and try it!!!

  • Catsmom

My girl tried 3 times to email to add us to the homecoming list..no luck, I asked her to please try again, she seemed a little annoyed that she already tried 3 times..

Have a good day everyone. One more day closer to HUGGING our Sailors!
  • dragon7

Please tell me the exact procedure for getting on the list for homecoming.  I guess I thought they would just tell someone on the ship. I have told my son to put me on the list. Do they have to email FRG/Ombudsman?

I am on the FRG email list.

    Thanks!

  • Gaisey

The e-mail should be sent to: “HSTFRG_RSVP@Yahoo.com”; and should include:
    • Your name and relationship to sailor
    • Your e-mail address,
    • Sailors’ name, rank/rate, and department,.
PLEASE NOTE: The e-mail address to submit your request has temporarily changed.

If your sailor sent a recent request to “HSTFRG_CommLiaison@HSTruman.net” it may not
have been received. If you have not yet received a confirmation, please ask your sailor to resend the request to “HSTFRG_RSVP@Yahoo.com”. Also, be advised that communications from the FRG will still be sent to family members from the “CommLiaison” account. Be sure to add this account to your contact list to avoid messages going to junk mail.

To get on base your sailor has to add you to the list on the ship. It is his/her responsibility. See FB link GrandmaBarB sent.
  • dragon7

This is what the newsletter had about base access/guest list:

Traffic will be heavy. Although there is ample parking on base, please allow extra time to get through the gates. Be sure to bring a valid Military ID card. If you do not have a military ID, please communicate with your Sailor regarding the base access list. Neither the FRG nor OMB Team is collecting guest names for the access list.

  • Carol Ann

Ladies, Just so you know it will take quite a while to get from your hotel to the BASE. Allow at least 2 hours ahead of the time you expect the ship to pull into port to get there, get on the BASE and park. Then expect a loooong walk from the parking lot to the pier. Last time we thought we had allowed ample time and we got stuck in traffic and by the time we got on BASE, parked, walked to pier the ship was already docked. We missed watching it come in unfortunately. We stayed in Portsmouth and we left 1.50 hours before the time ship was expected at pier and it still was not enough time. Hopefully this will help you plan a bit. Normally it should only take 15-20 mins to get there from where we were staying.

Any moms on here live in Norfolk/Va Beach and going to the last FRG meeting???  I'm not going to be able to make it and just wanted to ask a favor from someone who is going to be there.  Please inbox/PM me if you are going!!!!  Thank you!!!

I wish I could offer calming, educated, awesome advice but I am in full blown school girl mode officially until that boat comes home >.< So I've got nothing but love and nerves to offer!!!  I have to go through my entire wardrobe and decide what I'm going to wear for the WEEK we are going to spend with the family >.<  Oh gosh...  **phew**   I fear my happy dance is slowly going to turn into chicken-with-her-head-cut-off dance lol!!!!
