Good Morning and Happy Friday my Sisters, I'm still here, reading blogs everyday.  I've just been quietly staying Prayed-UP for ALL of our Sailor's, Truman, Bush, U.S. Military Forces & All Leaders--since this Ukraine mess been going on.

  • carrie

GrandmaBarb......Thank U--- so much for the Reuters Article You just posted, because knowledge is power!!!  So, I'm asking all of you to take this World Crisis's Situation to your places of  Worship for "URGENT SPECIAL PRAYERS REQUESTED" for our Entire Military Forces and Our FAMILIES!! To keep us on their Prayer List until our Sailors comes HOME Safe.  And anybody else that can keep this Prayer Chain going.  That GOD Almighty, will Intervene on our behalf.  We want to keep our Spirit High so our Sailor's can pick up on our HAPPY and POSITIVE VIBES!!!!  Have a great and safe weekend all.  Peace & Love

Sorry Son Loves 4 Wheeling - he's going to have to send you a letter -

  • Coach Shelia

Hello everyone! Here it goes again...Stay focused, patient and positive no matter what!

  • Carol Ann

Ladies I too have been very concerned and following the news like a hawk. I, like you all, am very concerned about the whole situation over there and how it will affect our military and us as a nation. Definitely have been doing some heavy duty praying myself and will continue to do so especially for our sailors on the Truman and fleet and the Bush and fleet, and our leaders so that we may resolve this situation quickly! I am trying to remain positive and sending out positive vibes to our sailors.

  • Catsmom

Praying here. Have a good day everyone. Thinking positive. God Bless our sailors.
  • Cindyloohoo (ATI Mom)

Thanks Sharoncede, yes, her first deployment.  She just graduated A school last week and she was told the likelihood of meeting up with the ship was slim due to the short time left.  Guess not!!

  • Carol Ann

welcome Cindyloohoo! My son has been in almost 6 years now and is getting out in June. He's a "Nuke"-MM2 What's your daughter going to do or do you even know? I can ask my son to look out for her. I heard the A school graduation and figured they may be working together or close enough... and yes as SharonCede says we do get a little bit crazy here sometimes but it's all in fun and to break up the tension. Sharon my girlfriend, where oh where have you been?

  • GrandmaBarB

    Carrie.

It's so easy sometimes to remember that our sailors are at war.  They are in a war zone, in harms way all the time. Nobody can foresee what could or might happen.  Circumstances in that situation can change in the blink of an eye.

We just have to remember our sailors are part of the best military in the world, the best trained, the best equipped with the best leadership possible.

If we had our way, they'd all be home with us...or at least stateside where they would be safe.  But, that's not what military is for.

So, whatever means you use to bring peace to your soul, you need to do.

  • Cindyloohoo (ATI Mom)

Thank you ladies, I could use a good margarita and cabana boy about right now!

Carol Ann, she's an ATI and is scheduled to go to C school in October.  Wow, 6 years and your son is getting out?  I have to wonder why after so long?

BusyMom, I was really surprised to hear they were still sending them out!!  Did they send him to the "home port" there or directly to the ship?  Have you heard anything from him yet?

  • Carol Ann

Cindyloohoo: He enlisted for min of 6 and that is all he cares to do. Said that from the get-go. To be a "Nuke" you have to go to school first for about 2 years, then hands on training for about 4 months at a Nuclear power plant then serve the remaining 4. They have offered him a very hefty sign on bonus both last deployment and this one too but he says no, 6 years is enough, he is getting out going to college finishing up his Mechanical Engineering degree-has about 2 years left to go for his Masters and then a dual degree in Education. He wants to teach. Realizes he won't be making the  big bucks but says it's not about the money. Interesting as when he went into the Navy at 19 he planned to get out and work at a power plant and make the big bucks now has changed his mind. They grow up a lot in 6 years let me tell you. Nothing personal against the Navy, just has his plans  and is focused. So proud of him!

Bring on the Margaritas, it's Friday-who-hoo and 5 o'clock somewhere. Course I guess I have to wait til 4:30 when I get off work first-lol!

  • pam

Happy Friday ladies!!   Like so many of you this is my Sailors 1st deployment and I have learned so much from you all.  I have learned to be Patient, Positive, Focused and that our Sailors are 1st and most Sailors and anything can change in any given moment as everything is in the hands of the Navy.

    love you GrandmaBarb

  • onlyson2013

catsmom my son has a virus on his laptop and can not connect to the internet.  so I'm stuck if my name and the two woman going with me, I can see my son thanks for info onlyson

  • Catsmom

Onlyson, have him use one of the computers on the ship. He is the only one that can give the information.

True GrandmaBarB, things change in the blink of an eye. Our Sailors are trained and the best at their jobs. We may not like it if things change, but we are strong Navy Moms, we will be here whenever they get home. Good to have you around to help us through.
  • pam

Yes Catsmom we are Strong Navy Moms!!

  • GrandmaBarB

Finally heard from the Kid.  Emailed.....always a surprise...always a wonderful pleasure.

He has been selected as one who will have first leave upon arrival.  He is SPLITTING for home as soon as his footies leave the ship.

Will miss seeing you guys and meeting everyone but it will be worth it to see his face again.  He'll rent a car and been here in a few hours.

He's so excited.  He thought sure he'd be on watch and not able to leave right away......

I may drive down to the Chesapeake Tunnel Complex where there are lots of pull offs where the ship can be seen entering the Bay....

  • Coach Shelia

Yippee! GrandmaBarb enjoy your time with him!!! Sending prayers and well wishes your way today and forever! Safe travels for your Sailor! Take care Navy Sister!
  • GrandmaBarB

thanks Coach Sheila.  I was anticipating all the hoo-rah in Norfolk and looking forward to meeting so many of you...but, ship happens, ya know.

I'm now officially counting the days.........

  • mwayle

Don't wanna start a panic but my son emailed me with the news there might be an extension of a few days to few weeks for Homecoming. He's bummed but fairly accurate his info is accurate. Anybody else hear anything?
  • Catsmom

Yes heard it from my girl. Not 100% certian. She said she will let me know as soon as she knows it is 100%
  • Ship 14- Division 290

Good evening everyone. I have been reading the message boards for two years now on a daily basis. I have gained so much knowledge here. My daughter's boyfriend is aboard the Truman. She too received word today of a possible extension. Keeping positive thoughts and fingers crossed that things will go ahead as scheduled. The safety of our loved ones is the most important.
  • JK Family

    : (   I hope it isn't so.

  • Catsmom

I heard the same from my daughter a few days ago, and agin today. She said she would let me know if it is 100%girl certian as soon as they find out. Praying for all on the Truman, that they come home as planned. But if not we must be positive for them, and stay strong.
  • carrie

Good Evening N4M's Sisters. Ditto here!  My hunch is-- if there is a delay it could be because of the missing Airplane!!  I heard on CNN today that two (code) US Navy Ships happen to be in the Area where they think that Airplane went missing at, and they would be assisting in the search along with US Airplanes.  Also, too much is at stake here (code), so Sisters stay Cool & Calm!!!  Be HAPPY and stay Pray-UP!!  Everything happen for a good reason for our Sailor's Safety!!!!   Peace and Love

  • GrandmaBarB

For all of us worry-warts.  What will be will be.  No one is more ready to come home than the Truman, the Strike Group and those who sail upon them.

The situation in that area seems very unsettled and if the Truman leaves, there is not anything there at all.

Perhaps another carrier will be sent to relieve our sailors...perhaps not.

John Milton said it best: "They also serve who stand and wait".

We are all up to the task, for sure.

  • GrandmaBarB

Carrie.  Those ships in or near the crash sight are from the Pacific Fleet.  Our sailors would not necessarily be called upon there unless there was some sort of serious and urgent condition.

  • Zander'sMom

Heard the same info from my sailor. We Momma's (and Grand-momma's)have to stay strong for our sailors (and each other). It's hardest on them. Praying for peace and the sight of that ship as it pulls into HOME.

  • DARmom

Huffymom23 - I teach first year success to college freshman and one tool we give them is the "wise choice decision process." Have him list out on a piece of paper all the pros and cons of buying a car vs buying a motorcycle and the potential outcomes of each decision. For example, a motorcycle is a fair-weather vehicle. It won't do him any good in pouring rain, snow, ice - he would still have to pay for a cab. The ability to have passengers is another consideration. My son bought a truck during the last few weeks of A school and he would charge people for rides (still cheaper for them than taxi) to cover the cost of his gas. You get the idea....  Also, maybe if you offered to help or pay for the insurance he would get a car.

I'm not a fan of motorcycles myself. I had one cousin killed on a MC - he was a new owner driving on a highway and overcorrected. One of my mom's cousin's and his girlfriend were riding a MC and got hit in the 70's. Both were hospitalized for months, she never walked again. Three of my brothers have owned MCs and have said, "other drivers just don't watch for them." Wish I had better news to share. Best of Luck!

I'm making a countdown paper chain. The chain is red white and blue and each chain has a little piece of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 in between yellow chains with the yellow ribbon on them. I'm proud of my art I'll post pics when I'm done!!! ^_^

In the meantime happy Sunday!!! Take care everybody!!! The sun is setting that means another day closer! Haha you all and your cabana boys haha have fun!

Staying positive that our loves will be coming home as planned.  Safe and Sound.  When I get nervous I clean house.

    kitchen: check

    master bedroom and bath: check

    greatroom:check

trish6794 thanks for the positive Words.

I like Acts 12  God is in control when my faith is weak. God is in control when dark clouds appear over my house. God is in control when the wicked SEEM to prosper.  Bottom Line: God is in control.

  • pschip

Yes JK God is in control   And he has a plan.  We just have to kept our sailors in our prayers

Good morning everyone!!!  Coach Sheila...your beautiful color graphic picture with Proud Navy Mom really made my day yesterday!!!!  I'll was feeling a little lost, but when I saw it; I'm a person that doesn't tear-up easy---girl I was crying tears of Joy and Happy dancing, thanking GOD!!!  A picture say a thousand words.  I look at the picture with my spiritual eyes and saw everything going to be alright, help is on the way and our Sailor's and us are going to be hearing some GOOD NEWS!!!!  TRUMAN is COMING HOME!!!!  Keep the Prayers going!!!!   Peace & Love

  • Carol Ann

Judy, Just saw your comment. Is your son a Nuke too? Mine's a MM2.

  • Carol Ann

Wow! Between actually working this morning, a meeting, and reading your posts it took me this long to catch up on what all was said over the weekend. Ladies, I heard from my son too and he seemed a bit down (understandably) as he was hoping to come back sooner than you all for his leave which may be cancelled due to what all is going on right now. He just wanted to let me know he is fine as I hadn't heard from him in a while and really found this weird as his birthday was the 6th and he hadn't looked on FACEBOOK or responded to anyone including me with emails and all. I noticed his site was blocked for a while and also found that strange, but do know sometimes that happens. Anyhow he says depending on the outcome of a few things their deployment may be lengthened the same as you all have heard and they should know soon. His leave may of course be changed or cancelled too. I am assuming if nothing else his out date still does have to be honored irregardless. I sent him a very cheery up response and hope that helped his mood some.  Told him he had a whole lotta people praying for him  and the Truman right now and that he should take a few breaths and relax and hang in there and all would be fine. I also told him thanks for contacting me even if he didn't know anything as at least I knew he was fine. That is was reassuring to hear from him. i have told his Dad and big sis to email him and make him feel better. So that said let's all continue to pray and think positive thoughts. Coach Sheila, Love your posts-they are so positive and what we all need right now. Grandma B-so sorry you won't be there to meet all the ladies. I am sure you probably would have been one of the ones the ladies would all agree on they really wanted to meet!

  • Catsmom

Coach Shelia, so true, in my case just change the he to a she. Got a message from her today, she said no news yet, they are hearing a date but " NO ONE IS TELLING THEM ANYTHING!!!!" Just a little frustration there. I think if they knew for certain, they would all take it in stride, they know how fast things change.
Carol Ann hope your son gets his leave and that those plans don't Chang .
Did out taxes today, getting enough money back to pay for the homecoming trip! Yea!
Stay Strong Ladies, whatever is meant to be will be. We are Strong Navy Moms, and we can get through anything!
  • Coach Shelia

Yippee! Catsmom...yes for ALL our loved ones deployed! Here's another one! We've heard this one before...

  • rgriego

Carol Ann, is there a homecoming party for everyone to be able to attend?  I would like to help out with it if there is?

  • rgriego

Coach Sheila, so true!  I remember my brother  used to say that all the time when he got back from Viet Nam.  :(

  • Gaisey

Maybe they will be told tomorrow. Praying as hard as I can for all! Trips planned, flights booked, change of military plans..shzzzz happens!! Yep, hurry up and wait!!! Sip our margarita's and bring on some more of those cabana boys!! Holy cow Carol Anne where did you find that cowboy??? Austin I hope... I am will be there all next week. ..

Catsmom so funny as soon as I said I was coming to visit you, my work in S.CA slowed down to nada I jinxed myself!! Looks like I may be down there April 4-9th I will let you know as soon as my plans firm up.
