Judy: I cannot believe I FINALLY have met someone whose son is also a Nuke and an MM. Yours is a 1 and mine is a 2. They very likely will be in the same Division and maybe even on the same shift. Hell for all we know he could be my son's replacement-lol! Anyhow looks like we are close in States we live in. If you friend me maybe I can tell you and you me a little more and our sons can look each other up.
Coach Sheila:That flow chart is so true! That is the one thing we always say to each other about the navy (or for that matter any military branch) hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait.
Gaisey, Was trying to find something to compete with the Rock's guns! Sheila has us all beat on that one-lol! I figured since a whole lot of you are from out West you might appreciate the cowboy!
Ladies, still praying and trying to stay positive. Your plans may all have to change for the Homecoming!
rgriego: As far as a Homecoming party goes you will have to get your sailor to email the FRG online and have them accept your email and then they can send you info about all that. I really cannnot discuss the info for this online due to security reasons nor the date (which may not be what we think it's going to be now anyways). Sorry. Just look up on FACEBOOK USS Harry S Truman Ombudsman for a start to where to go for this. Good luck.
Let me look around here in a bit and see what other cabana boys I can find to send you all. I think we definitely do need a party at this point or at least a diversion!
Have a great day ladies and if any of you hear anything please let us know....
Good morning everyone! No news is good news...hurry up and wait...stay focused, patient and positive everyone! Staying in prayer because...IT'S WORKING! In the meantime I'm choosing to do this...
Hi Carol and Judy- My son is a nuke also- an EM. He has been real positive and loves his work. I have a question for the group. Does anyone know how good the medical facilities are on the ship? My son sent me a casual email saying he was keeping it short because he was typing with one hand. He goes on for awhile and then says he had some stitches and then says he cut he hand on some sheet metal but not to worry. So I email back just as casual- sorry about your hand , take care and watch for infection. Now since then, it has started eating at me and now I am freaking out. I emailed him several times (with no response) asking- How many stitches, how deep, more details please? I know they have a clinic on board but can they handle surgery if they need to? I am worried he will downplay it- not wanting to draw attention away from his work. Somebody reassure me about the medical corp please. Thanks
BigMama: Wow, So now you all are coming out of the woodwork! Friend me and I can see if your son and mine can look each other up if you like? The Med Corp is pretty good on the ship and are able to stitch and even do minor surgeries as my son has told me. If they thought it serious enough to they would med vac him off the ship for further help. No worries Big Momma, all will be fine. My son tripped and fell down flight of stairs and broke his finger last deployment and they took care of him o.k.
Bigmama.....The Navy has some of the best medical care in the world. Carriers are fully equipped to handle everything from removing moles to open heart surgery. Here are some articles that might easy your mind:
GrandmaBarB- thanks for the medical info. It was actually the kind of stuff I was wondering about. It does make me feel better. I have been pretty stoic about his deployment but I kind of feel like I am crumbling a bit with all the news of delayed return. We got our airline tickets and hotels and vacation booked- good thing they are changable!
Bigmama. I understand the disappointment. But we must remember why are sailors are in the Navy, where they are and what their duty is. They are in a dangerous area, several war zones, lots of issues in several countries. Their job is to protect and defend...it's their ONLY job. They will do what is necessary.
It's hard to see these young sailors so far from us....for so long...but, that's what the job is. Even when they return to homeport...they won't stay. They cannot do their job when tied up to a dock.
Courage is needed by all family members and loved ones. Our job is to wait.....
Good afternoon Ladies!!! GrandmaBarb.....I strongly agree with your comment to Bigmama, especially on your last paragraph ("Courage is needed by all family members and loves ones. Our job is to wait...."). I felt out lol so hard :) because I didn't want to worry today so, I starting at 10:00 am running around this big house throwing lots and lots of things away!! My neighbor's ask me are you getting ready to moved? I said No!!! If I have to "hurry-up and wait" :) I'll be dawn if I'm going to be Stress-Out worry why I WAIT on the Navy to make a decision!!!! Then I took a break and read the blogs and saw yours.....it was conformation from you that I was on point throwing things out!!!! hahahaha I'm still praying for ALL of our Sailor's and this World!!!! Have to run now and throw-out more stuff, trash man will be here soon. lol
dartangion; Thank you for your service and your wife's service too you are a very special breed to do what you do and it is most appreciated! My son gets out in June after 6 years of service.
Carrie- Love your "wait job". I have an entire basement full of "stuff" that my kids left as they moved on. I am going to spend my afternoon doing some productive waiting and throw stuff out! I have been looking for some motivation to get rid of extra stuff- just have to keep the husband from seeing what's in the garbage 'cause he will go right around me and pull it back out- "Hey, this is good stuff"- never know when you need 1980's PC pieces and old broken Easter baskets
Bigmama...Thanks Hon..., cause I can use All the encouragement I can get. Turn some music up in every room, opened up all the curtains & blinds, put on a sweat suit, pair of sneaker, get a box trash bags and a bottle of water.
Has you run threw the house dancing, saying those kids know better--- they should have trash their own belonging before they moved on!!!!! But, I'll fix all of you, cause Momma going threw all of it out!!!! Girl, put clothes, shoes, Computers in those empty rooms!!!!!!!
Ps: Don't forget to make hubbie a Man Crave with one of those rooms or area. ;) (He just might help you--- throw stuff out)!!! Oh WOW, a Man Cave for big Daddy!!! Baby, we should have been did this!!! hahhaha, hehehehehe-------- :)
Carol Ann... lol--- now you kno--- I just turned "sixty (60 yrs. old)" two week ago, I'm having my second or maybe third childhood again!!! lol I'm on the easy side of the mountain now in my life!!!
I've done the Stressing, now its time for the Blessing-----!!! Carrie looking for the Rainbow and Disney World (I've never Been) and more great happening!! I'm at a good place in my life now ("Single") and kids grown!!! April 2 will be 9 yrs. since I've retired!!! Child please---- I'm can't be worrying about nothing, tomorrow isn't promise and life is too short. lol Peace & Love
58 school days until I retire (62 yr old)- but who's counting! Stress has been such a big part of life and raising my boys I am not sure I can stand the peace and quiet. I do have bucket list I have been working on though-dont know if I'll ever climb Mt Everest but have skydived and scuba dived. Nothing was as hard as raising my 2 boys- They survived and are amazing and I got the gray hair to prove it.
FYI: I follow the Facebook page of the other ships attached to the Truman and the Captain of the USS San Jacinto posted a message regarding the rumors of homecoming. Trying to keep positive!!!:)))
Arrive, you have me laughing so hard, which I needed! You go girl, and do all the things you want to do! Life is way to short.
Bigmama, I would be counting down the days to retirement too! Take that bucket list and go for it! You both made me smile, thank you for that!
Mirca23 I saw that too. Was reassuring. The Bush really has a whole lot of political statements being made on their website. Kinda scary! Cindy: Well well now where were ALL you Nuke Moms this whole time? I thought there were none. Forgot about Judy-sorry and now two more have come forward! If you are going to Homecoming ladies be ready to wait til all are gone before your sons will come off the ship. They will be dead last and hours later. You will find at the end all that are standing are Nuke loved ones-lol!
Ladies if I get the chance today I will find some cabana boys and M&M's for you all!
Hello! I haven't been on in forever. I am a nuke mom too. My son said it would be at least 2 hours until the nukes emerge. I don't do facebook, is there any other way to get information about homecoming? The HST website? Or should I email an ombudsman?
Well yet another! Hi jbird don't remember your being a nuke Mom! Both would be good websites to look on for Homecoming info. You will need your son to email them and put you on their list though so you get information. You had better do that soon!
Thanks Carol Ann. Yep, mine is an ET. PIR was May of '11 and then SC NNPTC until this current deployment which is his first. I mention the dates wondering if any other sailors would have been at great lakes with him that year. I wouldn't even be here to write but we are under a blizzard warning today (we are so winter weary...) and everything is shut down. It is snowing to beat the band out there UGH! Anyone else getting this latest storm? btw thank you to all who have held the HST and crew up in prayer. It's critical and I sure do appreciate it.
Good morning Ladies ! ALERT: BREAKING NEWS on CNN: MASSIVE EXPLOSION, 5-Alarm Fire in MANHATTAN, NY. (Possibly GAS LEAK) Multiple Buildings Collapsed in Manhattan, New York about 9:30 - 10:00 am. Something about a piano repairs store with apts. above it on 117th Park Ave. South and another building behind or beside it collapsed. 1644 Park Ave. building is completely gone! No status on 1646 Park Ave. has of yet. They are some injuries and 1 death. Check-up on your love-ones!!!
My son says it was just rumors musiqholic... I am not changing plans. Now I hear the Ukraine prime minister is channeling Reagon....let the walls stay down!! No going backwards in time. Keep the faith!! ✌️
Good morning ladies, dartangion... thanks for the info!!!
Coach Shelia.... I agree with you whole hearted and I love poster on "Don't Let"!!
