Ladies I am so excited! Just saw on Navy website that the Truman has safely executed the Suez Canal! Whoop Whopp! I always worry when they go through there as they are so vulnerable then.

  • jitterbug61

Carol Ann - where did you see the information about the Suez Canal?  I would love to see that myself.  Thank!

  • DARmom

Catsmom - Why is any sharing of Homecoming information going on?  My understanding is that there is a REASON why our sailor must provide our information to the FRG - for safety, security and OPSEC.  Maybe I am missing something but I have never seen this type of activity since I have been on this site. In the past, people have always been referred to call the ombudsman for information. If you are sharing anything with dates, you are violating OPSEC.

  • AMESteelesMom

Thanks Catsmom for sharing.  There are no dates in the packet. If any of you are on the FRG email list then you have already received pretty the same information. i.e. Norfolk area visitor information, hotel suggestions, where the night before party will be held etc.  I assume not everyone gets the FRG emails so I can see how this would be beneficial to them.

  • durrichShip03/Div354

DARmom - there are no dates attached to anything.. it's the same info the Ombudsman forwarded if you are on that connection with  your sailor.. Nobody is violating anything... everyone is well aware of confidential information as in dates being shared. Please relax

  • rgriego

I am requesting the packet information, if anyone would please send it to me:  rgriego83@hotmail.com.  I requested it from the Ombudsman, but he said I had to get it from my son.  My son isn't available via e-mail or phone, etc. at this point.  I can't request it from  him.  Is there anyone willing to share?  Thank You!

  • Catsmom

I am sorry but I can not send you that information, you will have to have your sailor email you the welcome home packet from the ship. I tried to help you out and got in trouble for it. S as I say I am so sorry, can't send that info. It was about where to go for the night before, NO DATES ANYWHERE on the packet. How to get on base the day they come in, what to wear, where to park, what to bring and not bring. Tips on readjusting for your sailor and you. Ect. So again, I am sorry. Contact the Ombudsman for the ship.
  • pschip

griego  can you e-mail your sailor  and have him send to you

I didn't think my sailor had it but he just got it yesterday and sent it to me today    there is a lot of sailors on the ship i guess it takes a while to get it to everyone

  • Mini

Catsmom, my daughter sent me the packet about an hour after I got yours lol. I would just like to say that I did not see anything in that packet that violated OSPEC. ALSO, you did not send anything through this site. It was all done through email. Thank you for the time you have taken to help people out on here. For the past year and a half I have personally watched you go above and beyond what is nessacary to help, from Basic to training, to deployment. Again, thank you
  • beenerjoan

I echo the last reply. You are a great help. Thank you!
  • Coach Shelia

Thank you Catsmom! I'm sorry for you got in trouble. This is my son's first deployment. He just celebrated his first year in in March! I appreciate everyone, though I haven't met you! I assumed we would ALL would get something similar to the PIR letter. I assumed the FRG would have our contact information because if ever needed for emergency. I know some hear from their Sailors more via calls, emails, facebook. I emailed my son several times like instructions per FRG.I even used snail mail tactics to get information on getting on FRG email list. I still haven't received anything, but with Catsmom help, I feel more at ease. Catsmom you get my vote to be on the Truman ombudsman team if you aren't already! Let's keep Our Navy Loved Ones in prayer to return to us safely to the cheers and celebration of US by the pier, and all those who are unable to attend!
  • Coach Shelia

My brain is on overload with Happiness! Can you tell by the last post! LOL
  • too tall Joan

Catsmom you did nothing wrong. THank you for helping our sisters out.

It has been a beautiful day today in PA. I wore no coat & short sleeves to tonight's track meet. Spring might actually be here. My favorite time of year
  • Catsmom

Thank you everyone or your kind words, I know I did nothing wrong, shared nothing that would endanger our Sailors and Marines. I don't want my daughter to get into trouble for my trying to help out my Navy sisters. I WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING TO HARM ANYONE. So with that said, I am sorry if by someone else's standards I was in the wrong. the packet said please share with your friends and family, no dates on anything so I did. But now I won't. I am Happy to have all of you my Navy Sisters in my life, thank you and God Bless you all, and all of our Sailors and Marines!

Coach Shelia, we all share your excitement! HAPPY DANCING , and I can't stop! Still Smiling too!
  • beenerjoan

I would love to see the ship come in. That would wonderful. Maybe next time! Happy for all of you! Is it pretty easy to get transportation to the airport or trains?
  • mtn50

Same here too beenerjoan. Maybe next time I will be able to see the ship come in. So happy for everyone that will be able to be there. Doing the happy dance for all!!

So I checked with my sailor to confirm that he sent our names in to the proper people for homecoming and he said he did.  How do I know?  Does he get a confirmation? Do we get a confirmation? I'm assuming that just because we got the Homecoming packet from him and now in the newsletter, that we are not cleared to go on base.  Can anyone set me straight?  Thanks!

  • too tall Joan

I have my sailor asking about the confirmation. Does she get it or do I. I'll let you know what I find out
  • too tall Joan

coach Sheila thanks for the smile today & your positive energy everyday
  • Sailorswife88

My husband hasn't told me the date he will be flying home but told me on Monday he is counting down the hours (he is a nuke though so I know he over does all the counting lol). The anticipation of getting the phone call to come pick him up is killing me!! My son woke up this morning saying "where Daddy!?!?" and started crying when I told him Daddy isn't home quite yet.

  • durrichShip03/Div354

Have to share because it's so darned cute!  My DIL has now bought 3 dresses for homecoming but not sure which one to wear!  Every text is 'I'm excited, nervous, happy".....  We'll be there and can't wait to watch my son and his wife.... I'll be happy with the second hug.   Have a great day everyone, and again - Thanks Catsmom for being a true blue Navy Mom Sister!

  • Carol Ann

Ladies, Good morning! Just wanted to let you know I just received my email last night so it is taking a little while for all to receive info about Homecoming. That said, we all are worried about finding out "on-time" and nervous about what to expect and what to do. CatsMom did nothing wrong, she was just trying to help us all find out info so we knew how to plan and what to do,etc. It's getting down to the wire and I think we all are a bit nervous about it. The lady who said to remember OPSEC rules hadn't seen the info and was only looking after the safety of our sailors which I would like to thank her for. I am sure she meant no ill will against anyone. Hopefully she has not left this site because of this. I went through this myself last time as i have told you all before and did NOT get my information on time and knew NOTHING about anything ahead. This time, let me tell you the OMBUDSMEN in my opinion are on-the-ball. The last time I had to call them in a panic and get my info over the phone 2 days before they were expected back. Came back from getting our son to find the info pkt in our mailbox!  You will receive more details at the Night Before Party and do need to go to that to get full details. Right now you know what you need to know to get you there. No dates are mentioned. Believe me you are hearing far more than I did last time. Everyone needs to relax and it will all fall into place. I still do not know when my son will be flying back officially the date or time, but he cannot say. I know I will hear from him once he gets to Norfolk and then he will still have a 12 hour drive ahead of him. I kind of know when this will be and that's all I really need to know for now. I have learned to relax a bit with this after 6 years and I am sure you all will too as time goes on. Hopefully you all will be able to help others out with info sharing that you can share safely then too. It all works out. Last deployment there was some really angry words shared and people got upset and I actually left the site I was on cuz I could not deal with the drama between some of the ladies on it.This time has been way different. I have truly have enjoyed the experience and will miss you all. Lets keep this positive, we are almost there! Time to celebrate!

  • Catsmom

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a good day! I am Smiling and Happy dancing. Not much longer and our Sailors will be home, I can just imagine how excited our Sailors are too!

Carol Ann, I haven't gone anywhere , just had to be to work at oh my way to early this morning. No time to check out this site today either. Such a crazy day, but I am still smiling! Nothing can get me down. I am not upset with anyone.
So Excited for you that your son will be home soon! HAPPY DANCING for you too!
Where are those cabana boys, we need to get this celebration going!
    :-)

  • JK Family

We will not be able to attend the homecoming of the USS Truman. However, it's all good/great we received "official" word that our Sailor will be coming home to prep for the arrival of the HST.  You ladies party on and I can't wait for all of you to reunited with your loves.

  • carrie

Coach Sheila... your email from FRG, did you do it like the example I gave on yesterday to copy paste, give to your sailor....  Or the three Ombudsman on Ship was just catching up on their backlog, since they have to services 5000 to 7000 people on Truman Ship and their families Emergency Crises that arises.

I think they have done a great job for only three Ombudsman!  "Kudos to them"!!!  :)

  • carrie

Gm N4M's Sisters....Thanks to everybody who are still Praying for all the Families at Fort Hood Military Base and ALL Our Military's Bases All around the World along with All Branches of ARMED FORCES!!!!   "World Peace"!!!

"Continue to Pray for Safety and a Safe Return for ALL of Our Sailor's and Truman Ship Crew Member"!    Peace and Love

  • Coach Shelia

I had a family member ask me if I was afraid of my son being deployed. I said no. He's safe, healthy and happy among those protecting Our Country. What scares me more are the tragedies in Norfolk and Fort Hood. I'm staying prayerful for our loved ones safe return. I'm staying prayerful for safe travels for families to see that wonderful day. I'm staying prayerful for those who head out to visit family on their leaves after returning home. Take care everyone it's getting close.

  • Carol Ann

Good Morning ladies! I am definitely Praying for the safety of those at the military bases and abroad to stay safe and remain safe. There is entirely too much of this kind of thing happening! So sad!  JK your son and mine are gonna be there "prepping"--yay! Soon, Soon, Soon! Can't wait! My feet have been dancing non-stop!
