Well I tell you what ladies.  As we reach closing days here I am most probably going to go into full blown work to keep myself busy/get things ready for the return mode.  I don't know how much more I'm going to be on here as work is finally picking up.  So I just wanted to say Thank you all so much for your support throughout this deployment.  It's meant a lot.  Haha laughs for days with this group.  I truly hope to meet some of you at the day before event.

I did here from my sailor.  He's doing well, super ready to come home as they all are.  But he sounded very motivated!  And Spain was just the pit stop they all needed.  The happiness in his voice gave me just the boost I need to make it through the final countdown.  He also kinda made me want to move to Spain for a couple of years!!!

Haha well take care ladies.  Thanks again and God bless <3

Ladies: Thanks so much for your kind words. I have been with you this long, I am not going anywhere--yet, anyway!  I spent a very enjoyable evening last night visiting with my son and catching up. he went to bed at8pm last night. Was wiped out from jet lag, and drive home. His time with the Navy is almost over-literally has a little over a month serve time and then will be home for good. 6 years was a long time, but he told me he still does not regret it. His time off right now is focused on getting himself registered at college and ready to roll come this Fall. he is visiting Bowling Green Univ in Toledo OH area today. About 2.5-3 hrs away and back again. Said he may stop at OSU on way back in Columbus and check that out too if he has time. He  was looking at those two and Univ of Pittsburg and UC too. Said he wants to be within a couple hours drive time away form home which is fine by me. Gonna live away. Pittsburgh is about 4-4.5 hours away, so he's not sure about that one. Anyhow his leave time will be spent on narrowing colleges down and registering, so he has a lot to do in the next week. I am at work today cuz no point in taking day off if he's not gonna be here anyhow. Thought about going with him but it would be better without Momma in tow. He would seem more mature without me along. I have so enjoyed you all and your friendship believe me and may still monitor even after my son is out just to keep up with you all. So hard to let go of all you awesome Navy sisters! Sheila, Don't know where you find all these inspirational quotes but I LOVE them! Carrie-keep on praying! I believe in the power of prayer! have a great day ladies and please post picts, videos, etc of Homecoming! It is one of the most awesome things you will ever experience!

  • Coach Shelia

Please keep all the injury and the entire School lifted up in Prayers and on your Churches Pray List for a speedy Miracle Healing in the name of Jesus!!!

There's been a Mass School Stabbing in Pittsburgh, at Franklin Region High School!  20 people hurt, 7 students with Life Threating injuries and 1 adult, suspect in custody!

    2.  Also, yesterday at Marine Corps Base at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina a Military Guard shoot and Killed another Guard!  Suspect in Custody!  (What is going on with our Military Bases coming under attack)?  :(  hmmmm!!

The Pentagon, All Govts. Agencies and Private Industries really need to heighten they Security with extra, extra Man Power and added more Surveillance Cameras on ALL Military's Armed Forces Branches and Bases!  They also, need to have strong "Prayer Warriors" and Bible Study groups held during the lunch times on every worksite and schools, just like the ones I started when I was working for the Federal Govt. Agencies years ago!  Because, you never know what your co-worker or a student's is going thru and just need to hear some comforting words of Inspiration and to know that somebody care about them!  Because, people are losing they minds and souls and crying out desperately for HELP!!!!  I'm just saying!!!

Where happen to "I'm my brothers/sisters keeper" went too?  Keep praying and meditating all during the day and nights for World Peace and Safety all over the World!

  • carrie

Coach Sheila, thanks for keeping us balance with the Inspiration posters.  I really like the one with the rose "How others can be HAPPY because of you!"  That hit home for me because at least I know my living isn't in Vain!!!  Praise GOD, because I always have try to make a different in this World and do the right thing.  So, that maybe someone will help and guide my children's, grand's...... for generations to come!  Thank you so much Coach, I really Appreciate you so much!

We've had a blast catching up with our son, hugging his neck and watching him and his 16month old son get reacquainted.  We are squeezing every second out of our time together before they move 600 miles away....again.

I am so excited for each and everyone of you that are still waiting for that homecoming.  It is SWEET and I can't wait to read about your reunions.  In the meantime, the Truman and fleet are at the forefront of all of my prayers.

    Thursday, April 10  :) aye!!!!

Hallelujah!  Thanks you GOD, for a new great Thursday we haven’t seen before!  Go ahead Sister Coach Sheila----- she's been given the prophetic word from God to prophesy thru this morning first poster!  I was so touch by those powerful words; I had flash back when I was in my early twenty.

The choir I sang on we would sing this song called: “One Day at A Time” we torn that song up--- that our Pastor will shout: “good GOD Almighty, we’re having Chuuuurch,” sing it again!!  I was in here smiling and just praising GOD Holy name, because I could feel GOD spirit coming all over me!

Thank you GOD-- for Coach Sheila being so obedient and a humble servant everyday!  Bless my entire Navy sisters also me, all of our Sailor’s/Truman’s Fleet and their families and bring them all Home Safe and Sound GOD!!!  In the name of Jesus we pray!  Amen, have a nice Blessed Day everybody!

  • Carol Ann

JK: So happy for you! I am enjoying my son too. Just sitting and talking about his future mostly. He is going today to chekc out a college he is considering going to when he gets out and has another one set up for Monday. He is pretty much spending his time getting this together. He said mom I have to get this lined up for the Fall now. Its using up more of his leave than I think he thought it would, but oh well. It's his future. last night he finally got to see his nephew who's in 8th grade perform with the HS Percussion Band. They are in World Finals today and if they advance for the next 2days. His nephew (my grandson) is in the 8th grade and so talented he was asked to perform with the HS group this year. One of 3 8th graders doing so. he loves it and does very well. my son had never seen him perform and was so impressed with him. Also with how much he's grown since he saw him last. Last night it was fun to watch my granddaughter and him playing for about 1.5 hours before we left to go to the send off show for parents at the HS. He said this is what I have to look forward to one day. I said yes. He said I think I will like being a father and having moments like this. Made my heart swell to hear this. He will make a wonderful teacher and father. So good with children. She is almost 6 and has literally only seen her Uncle a few times over the course of the past 6 years but loves him so. She was hanging on him last night and sat on his lap for the performance. So cute!

  • too tall Joan

Jk & Carol Ann thanks for sharing your happy stories. We will all have stories to share and pics soon. Have a great Thursday all
  • Carol Ann

Too Tall and others: You will all definitely have your experiences and happy stories to tell too and I can't wait to hear yours! It will be SOON for you all too! Yay!

  • JK Family

It's the simple things, LOL.  Our son wants to mow the lawn.  He'll get his chance soon. : )  Tomorrow = )  <3

He has so enjoyed the TREES, HILLS, MOUNTAINS & THE GREEN, GREEN GRASS OF HOME.  this pic is of our son trying to keep his son OUT of the fire pit.

I am still so excited for this homecoming.  Each of you be safe as you travel to greet them.  My heart is full for each of you and your loves on the ship and in the fleet.

  • Carol Ann

JK: Love the picture! So happy for you! Amen to the safe travels and wonderful reunions to come!

  • too tall Joan

Jk love the pic. My daughter said the first thing she wants to do is fall on the ground and touch the grass
  • jitterbug61

My daughter is on the Truman with HSC-7.  And I am so excited to see her.  I have read all the things about what to expect when they get back, but what I am curious about is on the day the ship comes in, what to expect.  Does the ship generally come in the morning?  How long does it take for them to get off the ship?  Will there be some place to sit?  I know we can't bring lawn chairs.  Any type of information about what the day will be like is very much appreciated.  Thanks!

  • mirca23

@ jitterbug, at my husband's last homecoming, the ship came in at 11am. We will know the exact time at the night before party. It took about an hour for him to get off the ship. They will have a tent with some chairs mainly for elderly, pregnant ladies, etc. They will have snacks and beverages available. I recommend you take a pack of wipes/paper because their portable toilets run out of paper quickly. Also, don't forget to pack an umbrella- a possibility of rain for that day.
  • Carol Ann

@ jitterbug: Truman's last Deployment in 2010 the ship got there around 9am from what I remember. My son is a Nuke and they are last off the ship. It was around 12 noon before we saw him. They had stands to sit in-metal ones like at ball games. The  new baby tent with snacks and heat as it was Dec 21, 2010. They did have a fun and craft area with tent for the kids with snacks and drinks. Porta potties (and yes bring some tissue in case). Umbrella as it rains a lot there and make sure you dress warm as it's like a wind tunnel there between the ships. My suggestion is to wear layers. The night before they will give you more info at the briefing party with this info too and your BASE passes.

  • Coach Shelia

Hello everyone! Thanks in advance for answering my questions!!! If we can't, or no room left in metal bleachers, can we bring our own Also do they get their whites or blues dry cleaned before the special day? Thanks again! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee WOW
  • Coach Shelia

LOL! I just re-read my last post...I meant to add...can we bring our own folding chairs... It sounds like I was asking if we could bring our own bleachers ha ha ha ha ha!!! My husband says I'm so excited I sound like I'm taking the helium out of balloons! We all know how funny that sounds! Keep those prayers prayers coming!

  • carrie

JK Family,  CONGRATS!!  I'm sooo happy and exciting for you my sister and your sailor!  Nice kodex moment of him and his son bonding in LOVE!  "Treasure it girl", so one day your grandson and y'all get to look at those same pics and laugh again with Joy.

Sisters, Just keep thanking GOD, who has made this all possible for everybody!!  The more you thank him the more GOD Blesses you!   Peace and Love

  • carrie

  • jitterbug61

Thanks everyone for the info on the homecoming!  I also reached out to the FRG because I had a question about seating.  I was told that as of right now, there won't be any seating and that we could bring our folding chairs, however, they could only be used where we park our cars.  They will not be allowed on the pier itself.

  • Catsmom

Good morning, ALMOST HERE! Have a good day everyone, keep up the Happy Dancing and the Prayers!
  • Carol Ann

They will be wearing their Whites I am sure as it's gonna be too hot to wear their Blues. They are responsible for having their uniforms cleaned and pressed.

  • too tall Joan

Jitterbug that was the one question I had too so thanks for finding out.

My daughter had told me she had to have her dress whites cleaned 2 ports ago so that she could wear them.
Happy Friday people. We are truly in the homestretch!!
  • Jan C

I always thought there was the whites during Memorial Day - Labor Day and blues other times, except in HI where it's always whites.

  • Winski

Good morning everyone.  Just wanted to give a shout out to "Build a Sign."  Most of you (if not all) have already ordered your sign for your sailor's homecoming, but for future orders or new navy moms...I also ordered my homecoming sign back in late Feb.  It had not come yet, so I called this morning.  They had the information but somehow it had not been put into production.  The lady on the phone was SO nice to me.  She looked and said the original delivery date was supposed to be today and she was so sorry their had been a glitch.  She said she was putting it into "urgent" production and it WOULD be there before my sailor's homecoming date (his leave date).  She also gave me hemming and grommets for FREE, AND knocked off $6 from the shipping. I was so appreciative of this!  So for future reference, THIS IS A GREAT COMPANY!  I will definitely use them again if the need ever arises.  Have a great day while y'all burn calories doing your happy dances!

  • jbr0001-USS Harry Truman-VAQ 130

jbr0001-USS Harry Truman-VAQ 130..thanks for the Love and I'm delighted to all who can get blessing out of the prayers.

Carol Ann... See you got me cracking-up again (bleachers), you're too funny sister.  I think the FRG might have to give Coach Sheila a  special enclosed area with a trampoline just for her only!  My sisters energy is "turn UP on high", we all Love you Coach!  lol

  • Carol Ann

Oh how I would LOVE to be there with you gals! You are going to be so HAPPY and EXCITED! You will be overwhelmed with just how huge that ship is and the sight of all those sailors manning the rails and then coming off the ship for hours is overwhelming!

  • Coach Shelia

LOL Carol Ann! Those bring back memories of my high school games! Guess who was Drum Major senior year? Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee WOW
  • GrandmaBarB

Oh, it's been so great being with your gals.  What a wonderful camaraderie we have and how we support each other.  Thanks for all that.

As many know, I won't be at homecoming because The Kid has said he is off the ship, in a car and coming right home.  He has First Leave and is going to take advantage of every minute.

I'm so happy he's coming right home and cannot wait to see him and cover him with grandma hugs and kisses...and spend some time with him.

However, I am almost jealous of you who will be there.  It will be such a wonderful time, watching that ship come in, watching reunions, enjoying all the glory and happiness.  I will think of you all.  Hopefully you folks will take some photos and post them here....

    Meanwhile...thanks for being an important touch stone for me and for others who have been chewing fingernails and wiping away tears for so many months.  We are a great group;

  • GrandmaBarB

Regarding uniform shifts, here is the one published in 2012...which seems to be pretty standard.  As usual, with government communications, it goes on FOREVER but you should be able to tell they will be in Whites when they arrive.....apparently.
