Catsmom: So glad to hear your daughter will be home today! Especially glad to hear the scumbag is gonna be nailed to the wall! My daughter's divorce is expected to be finalized July 2, unless he contests something else! Lets pray he doesn't and they get this over with!
Guess who pulled up last night around 11pm hauling a loaded down trailer!?!? My son! This has FINALLY hit me-he is really home for good! I cannot tell you ladies how very happy and excited I am to FINALLY arrive at this day after 6 years! He was tired and happy himself and we talked for about an hour or so, he ate, took a shower and went to bed. I was up well past 2:30pm tossing and turning-too excited to sleep! Had to go into work this morning but didn't want to! Had a Webinar and are down to only two in our Dept. now cuz the one gal walked out about a month ago. They still haven't replaced her and I am a bit frustrated about that as I want to be talking time off and staying home with him but can't! He has to get the trailer unloaded and back to UHaul by tomorrow. I am sure between him and his Dad they will have most of it done. His Dad doesn't have to be to work til 12:30pm today. Don't know where we are going to put it all. he said he may have to get a Stor-n-Lock til he goes off to college this Fall. I told him he did not need to spend that $ again and we will try to fit it all somewhere. Hopefully we can! I DEFINITELY am going ot have a big ole welcome home party for him SOON! Just have to get with him and figure out when and what he wants to do. I have been buying decorations, have my sign ordered, pictures, looking up recipes, etc. getting ready! DANCING AND HAPPY DANCING-on cloud 9!!!!!
Carrie I know what you are talking about I'v been there done that. Some times they do act like there father but then again they re part his. But they are good at saying I'm sorry. It nice to have family around and Georgia is a nice place. I'm in Oakwood Ga
Carol Ann Doing the Happy dance with you. Know you are glad to have your son home for good.Has he moves on to other things I wish him the best Tell him thanks for his 6 years of service.
Thanks pschip I appreciate it! Today he and his father are unloading the U-Haul trailer he hauled his stuff back in. Gotta figure out where we are going to keep it all til he goes away to college in the Fall. He said Mom I think I am gonna have to rent another Str-N-Lock for a couple months. I told him we could squeeze it all in the house somehow as i don't want him to have to spend more money on that. We'll figure it out. May no be able to walk in my basement with it all stacked up down there but hey it's a small price to pay to have my baby home again for a little while. Come Fall he will be going away to college at Ohio State but the good news is that will only be 1-1.5 hours drive time away. So excited! I can hardly stand sitting here working today! I want to be home so bad! Want to plan his party with him and visit with him,
Coach Sheila: I've been sending up special prayers for you, I know it’s extra hard on you with your sailor being your only child. And it his 1st yrs. anniversary in Navy, my sailor (middle child) 4th yrs. is coming up in 3 wks. and this was his first deployment. And I have 3 kids, my oldest son which lives up North and my youngest which is my only daughter lives with me in Atlanta Metro Area attending colleges here.
But, for some reason, my sailor son just stayed on my heart more and I worried about him all the time and the stress it has put on me since 2010. I love all of my kids, I told my sailor I can’t do another deployment because its puts too much stress on me and it’s detrimental to my health. Then my Mom (my best friend) past 14 month ago and like all family there are some a-holes, (attentions starve people) causing drama and it’s too hard on me (Stress plays all kind of tricks on the body, remember my scare last month). So, go get that numbness checks out by a Doctor before it turn into something else. I care about you and all my Navy Sisters, because without you gals I don’t know how I would have made it thru this far. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I’m just saying.
Ps: Are some of your Sailors getting new orders to be station somewhere else (leaving Norfolk) before the end of the year? I kept forgetting to ask you all.
Carol Ann: I am Happy Dancing and shouting with you! You are now Stress Free, your son is Home for good! Tell him I said CONGRATS, and thanks for all his services and what he's getting ready to do new in life to make another difference in this World!! Good Job Carol Ann & hubby for a great kid!!! "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"! One of my favorite songs by Kelly Clarkson! Take care everyone! I put a mosaic photo album on my cell phone. It constantly displays all the photos I have of my son beginning his Navy Journey,PIR,A School,Deployment Homecoming! It keeps me in prayers for ALL our Sailors!
Thanks Carrie, and Coach Shelia, I am very proud of my girl! She is a strong and amazing woman! Hope you are both doing well, been so busy haven't been here for awhile. 17 more days of work, then off for summer! Can't wait..LOL
Heard from one of my friends that the Truman had a "spill in a reactor" - nothing major just required paperwork. I'm just wondering what that might be?? I suppose it sounds more worrisome than it is?? My sailor has been working and Verizon was down last evening in our area so I haven't been able to reach him but heard their underway was delayed because of this incident. Has anyone else heard anything about this?
DARmom, I talked with my son last night and he told me about this. Just delayed their inspection but I did see on FB a pic of the Truman heading out this a.m. so I'm thinking all is well now.
Hi Navy sisters, I know I talked to my sailor when they were approaching the pier a couple of hours ago! I'm during really well with my health and happiness! Im getting my grooves back on. lol Everybody have a nice week-end.
Hello Ladies; I asked my son about the spill and he told me it happens all the time in varying degrees and that usually it's nothing as they monitor it all so well and it's contained--something to do with water-didn't really understand him. I questioned him and he said Mom that's all classified. #1 no one should even be talking about that, and #2 I am really not supposed to talk to you about it Mom. We are enjoying him being home and he is still going through all his stuff. Gonna either take to Good Will or have a garage sale. He had brought a U Haul home with him loaded with the last 6 years of stuff he accumulated. He had help loaded it up and unfortunately his friends literally just put stuff in there any old which way. He let them do it cuz they wanted to hurry and get done and he didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Of course I don't think any of it was in boxes packed like you or I would do. Our one side of the basement has his bed, table and chairs, LR furniture, dressers, etc all filling it. We finally have picked the date for our welcome home/get out of the Navy party for him for July 12th. I will let you all knw how that goes. he has had a little trouble adjusting to civilian life. Said he was so used to be told what to go, where to go and when to do it it's so strange just having all this free time. He was bored out of his tree within a week. He is finding things to do to occupy his time and is even considering a PT job just for something to do til he starts college this Fall. I have found him up at all hours. He says he is not used to getting so much sleep and I think he is definitely on a different schedule. Other than that he is definitely eating! Forgot how much he does eat--he's so thin you would never know it. He has been pursuing his hobbies like fishing, bow archery, shooting at shooting range, guitar, he fixed his bike and has been out riding that some. He still exercises regularly and takes a daily run and works out with his weights. I think the will always exercise for life.I have been hearing bits and pieces of his life in the Navy. I found our he was injured when the ship was in the yard being refitted (something he never told me) and has some back issues every so often as a result. He also broke his finger on ship coming down stairs he tripped and fell once. So, hearing little snippets of this and that. He says he misses his friends still in, which I can understand.
Hello everyone! Always sending prayers and well wishes your way today and forever! Carol Ann please thank your son for his service to Our Country! I've been studying for one of many final exams for June 30. I've also been preparing for a move for August. We're moving to be closer to my wonderful MIL! She turns 80 in October. So many changes since my son left for bootcamp, but it's ALL good! Take care everyone and know I'm thinking of you all!
Coach Sheila, CONGRATS on your Move and good Luck on your upcoming exams!!!
EVERYBODY LETS START LIFTING UP THOSE PRAYERS AGAIN!!! See below!!!!
Hi Navy Sister, Atlanta's CNN is during a special Briefing at 5:00 pm on the serious Crises overseas that happen earlier today. A Ukraine plane was shot down has it was landing by Insurgents killing 49 people, Insurgents shot something off of a Aircraft Carrier Ship and something about all Hell has broke out in Iraq! Whitehouse and Pentagon promise Punishment from the United States. Something about Air Strike from one of our (sssh) Ship, and something about, there going to have sent another Ship overseas! WOW!!!!!! I've been praying all day and especially for our other Navy Sailors and theirs families who are on Deployment overseas! PEACE & LOVE
Militants threaten March to take BAGHDAD! ISIS is fighting, somebody get Volunteers fighters. U.S. sends Air Craft Carrier to Persian Gulf. I'm trying to remember what all I'm seeing and hearing in this Special Report to brief everybody, so I hope I'm repeating it right if not I tried. lol
Hold on a bit, gals. The Navy as NOT sent another carrier "over there". All they have done so far is move the GHWBush from the North Arabian Sea to the Persian Gulf. Bush is the ship that replaced our Truman, if you recall. Let's not hit the panic button yet. Have confidence that we know what we are doing here.
This was on the Bush's website. Thought I would share with you all....
Message to friends and family members of George H.W. Bush Strike Group (GHWB CSG) from the Commander:
I’d like to start this message by thanking all of the friends and family members of Sailors attached to the GHWB CSG for their love and loyal support throughout this combat deployment. This deployment has already demonstrated the value of Naval Forces to our country and has reinforced the fact that your Navy and Marine Corps team is deployed globally where it matters, when it matters.
“Where it matters, when it matters” was demonstrated as we operated in the Mediterranean and Black Sea at the start of tensions in Ukraine and again was on display as we led the operation that returned a hijacked tanker to Libya. After we transited the Suez Canal and entered the Central Command’s Area of Responsibility, we immediately flexed to provide support to security teams in Afghanistan during their election which helped ensure that the citizens of Afghanistan could safely leave their homes and travel to polling stations in order to vote for their next president. Afghanistan just conducted a run-off election and once again, your Navy combat team was where it mattered, when it mattered as our support from the air resulted in record turn outs at the polls which marked a milestone in Afghanistan’s progress toward democracy and a peaceful transfer of executive leadership.
As soon as it became apparent that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were marching toward Baghdad, the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group was ordered to reposition to be “where it matters” and 30 hours later, USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and USS Truxtun (DDG 103) joined USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) and USS Okane (DDG 77) in the Arabian Gulf, “where it matters, when it matters.” In times of crisis, Naval Forces operating forward are responsive and provide the decision space and options for the President. That’s why we’re here and that’s what we do. Carrier strike groups bring a physical and political presence that act as a deterrent, and when deterrence fails, we possess credible combat power that provides the assured joint access to fight and win.
The support you show your Sailor is felt out here and makes a significant difference. I couldn’t be more proud of our Navy family and our Sailors. I suspect that the decision to postpone George H.W. Bush’s next port visit may cause some concerns at home, especially with the friends and family members who were traveling to visit but I also trust that you fully understand.
Naval Forces demonstrate the Chief of Naval Operations’ tenets of Warfighting First, Operate Forward and Be Ready daily around the globe, and for us, the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group, we embody our Flagship’s motto “Freedom at Work.” That’s why we’re here and that’s what we do.
Sincerely and God Bless, Rear Adm. DeWolfe H. Miller III Commander, George H.W. Bush Strike Group
Carol Ann, hope your son soon adjust back to a civilian way of life, I know it must be hard. Once he starts school, I am sure he will have less free time. Please thank him for me for all he had done for this grate country!
Got a message from my girl today, she is on Standby to go back to the Truman, should she be deployed again. She says nothing is carved in stone so don't freak out..LOL I told her I am not, kinda expected it. We are all Navy Moms, and Grandmas, and know that at any moment our sailors could be called to deploy. This is what they signed up of, and therefor us too..LOL praying they don't have to go back, if they do we are here to support them. And pray if they go, all return home safely.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have been watching the news closely and hoping and praying our loved ones do not get called back up. my son still could be called back himself for almost 2 more years if the Navy chooses to do so. Either way I am concerned for you all and your loved ones too and want you to know that I have been praying for ALL the military as we are one big family I have learned. My son went to OH ST campus yesterday for his orientation and to look around to find a place to live yesterday and today too. He is staying over night 2 nights in Columbus with my brother and family so he can do so. he was so excited to be starting this new chapter when he left.
Good Morning Navy Sisters, well at least we all-- are coming back together slowly but surely back in Unity again.
Keep those Prayers lifted-up high for World Peace and our World Leaders that are in-charge. That GOD will speak to each Leaders heart to make the right decisions on the IRAQ Crisis and World Peace! While we totally believe in GOD for a big Miracle along with Divine Intervention from up above and the Safety of Our U.S. Armed Forces returning back to us like Catsmom said.
My Sailor son, his Dad had Order to go to IRAQ 24 years ago, everybody in the family was bawling big time! My Faith was much stronger than my ex-husband and families members. I told everybody let's Pray over him now, our sailor son was born at 27 weeks (6 mos.) drs. said our baby wouldn't survive and he was 6 month old when his dad had to go to IRAQ.
I am a firm believer of Divine Intervention, as I lead that Prayer our sailor son put his hands in both of our chest and laid his head on his dad crying and he was praying in baby talk word for word has I prayed. Long story short, his dad got to California by plane, the night before he was suppose to ship out-- Red Cross/Pentagon called his official. Our sailor had to have emergency surgery within 48 hrs. and might not pull thru it. Instead, of getting on the ship to go overseas to IRAQ the next day, the MP was rushing him to the Airport with his Order to come back home and be station at a nearby Base to be there for our 6 mos. old preemie sailor and me for the duration of his 6 mos. deployment period, he was allowed to come home/hospital/drs. offices everyday! To this day my sailor doesn't like to see injustice and he's still praying today with that spiritual star in his eyes that can be seen. He's my mini-me! My sailor is 24 yrs. and count the 6's up above that still equal 24 and his dad had IRAQ Order 24 yrs ago. Hmmm! (what are you thinking? ) I'm claiming Divine Intervention for my sailor son again. So, trust GOD or whoever you pray to for Divine Intervention!
Thanks for the share everybody and have a nice week.
Carrie- you have the most interesting stories to tell. I too believe in the power of prayer and yes even Divine Intervention-- that God will make things right one way or another. Sometimes it doesn't seem so, but down the road looking back we see why He guided us on that path to begin with. I believe it's always for a reason. Sometimes we just need to learn a lesson or have a hardship to make us stronger in our faith.
I have been following the Bush since they left too and keeping up with their news. I think I will always have an interest in the Navy--it's now ingrained in me. I still feel connected with you all. My son does too. The hardest part for him adjusting back to civilian life again is leaving his close friends behind that he has made in the 6 years he has served. He told me the other day. You know Mom these people were my family for 6 years and it's hard to think I may never see some of them again that I worked side-by-side with every day...they really do get to know one another so well and are each other's support for that 9 month deployment.
Its always the Faith that gets each and everyone of through any hard time. As a Navy Veteran myself, it was hard to watch my son make this choice, but I could not be a more proud parent as I know my Son serves first our Lord and second his Country, which at times means protecting those who cannot protect themselves. I truly believe with all the peace in my heart that God is ALWAYS in charge and no matter what happens, our sailors who have chosen The Way, The Truth, The Life are wrapped in the arms of Jesus at all times, and never alone. God Bless you as parents and your children who are no longer our children, but God's children, they always have been God's children, we were just trusted by our King to raise them, and it sounds like we are doing a fine job:)))) Love is the most powerful weapon God has given us Rejoice in the Faith always
I pray for our military everyday I pray they don't have to go back. But if so i know they don't go along they go with our prayers that has them covered. I son loves the lord and his country. He is doing what he loves. Because of the men and women serving we have the freedom to pray and that is something i don't take lightly. Because it could be taken away.
so i will kept praying for our sailors. and the bush and all that all with her.
My Nephew is in Afghanistan so it is all branches that we need to pray for..
Thanking all my navy sister Fam, you just got to LOVE all these Navy 4 Moms Gals! Right on sharoncede, carol ann, fivekidsmomtx and jbird! Because I'm Happy and resting in the Lord! Hahahahaa! Yes, everything is going to be alright, just keep those Prayers Lifted up for everybody. Because at the end of the day we all are effected by this Crises one way or another and we each have to do our part! Peace and Love
Hey pschip-- I'm just seeing your post gurl! I didn't refresh my screen until just now and right on-- to you also has usually.
Now that the NBA's Finalist is over, everybody can stay more focus on "Where it matters, when it matter"! I like this Navy Slogan. I feel so extra important to be apart of the Navy Team! Bye y'all! lol Peace and Love ; )
Reading all your texts from yesterday ladies and am finding such inspiration in them. I am thinking how fortunate I am to be in a group with such wonderful women! How amazing it is that we ALL have faith like we do. We are together for a reason that's for sure! That is why I am so reluctant to leave this group! I feel so close to you all!
Thank you jbird, that's so sweet. I just still want to know how you all are doing and your children. I still feel bound to you all because of what we experienced for so many months of deployment and I got to know you and like you all. I would definitely miss you all. Feel like I should go away now that it's over for us officially but don't want to....
Wow! how cool! If you all can get the chance to experience this I say go for it! I never personally set foot on the Truman but would loved to have. We visited Patriot Point the day our son graduated from A School Nuke in Goose Creek and that thing was HUGE! The Truman is a whole lot bigger than that! I have been on a couple of other smaller Navy ships for tours but not the newer carriers.
Thank you SharonCede. I forget is your son getting out too? Or transferring somewhere else? You have to stay too if I do. You are the one who kept me sane when I was going insane with all your jokes and pictures--you started this whole thing to begin with--the whole cabana boy, feather boas, M&M jokes! We definitely had our fun with all that silliness!

Sincerely and God Bless,
Rear Adm. DeWolfe H. Miller III
Commander, George H.W. Bush Strike Group

Peace and Love

I agreed with with jbird Amen
I pray for our military everyday I pray they don't have to go back. But if so i know they don't go along they go with our prayers that has them covered. I son loves the lord and his country. He is doing what he loves. Because of the men and women serving we have the freedom to pray and that is something i don't take lightly. Because it could be taken away.
so i will kept praying for our sailors. and the bush and all that all with her.
My Nephew is in Afghanistan so it is all branches that we need to pray for..

I feel so close to you all!

carol ann- don't leave. There are binds that cannot be easily broken. You will always "be here" so please stay. I appreciate hearing from you still.

Thank you jbird, that's so sweet. I just still want to know how you all are doing and your children. I still feel bound to you all because of what we experienced for so many months of deployment and I got to know you and like you all. I would definitely miss you all. Feel like I should go away now that it's over for us officially but don't want to....
Jun 18, 2014

Wow!
