Hi all - My son finally had his appt with the VA hospital - no surgery needed - thank goodness.  And they finally got him in the system and he will be assigned a primary care doctor so that's good.  School is going well too.  He booked his flight home for Christmas!  So excited as we haven't seen him the last 2 Christmas's.  And his GF is coming too so we finally get to meet her :)

Great news BNuke!  It's such a relief being able to communicate with my sailor whenever I want to, not that he responds right when I want him to. ;)  He is living the high life right now.  I'm really hoping that by time 2017 comes around he will have this partying out of his system and be ready to save.  I guess we all have an adjustment period after turning 21.  haha.  Lets all pray he doesn't resort to using that credit card they so freely gave him.  :D

Great to see new updates!  I was just thinking of this group the other day!  My son is doing well in Virginia Beach.  We hope to fly out to visit him soon as we were not able to attend the homecoming.  Happy November!

Anne - glad things are going well for your son and hey at least he's enjoying life right now - good for him! (Hopefully you can convince him that if he does use the card he at least pays it off in full every month - avoid those charges!)

JGMom - I hope you get to see your son soon and I'm glad things are going well for him too!  I'm sure they are all enjoying being back "home".

So good to hear from everyone again!  Has N4M been down for a while?  Today is the first time I've received anything in a long time!  Glad to hear from all of you!

BNuke'sMom - glad to hear no surgery required!  How does your son know about Christmas leave already?  That's amazing (as well as wonderful for your family)!

Redsmom - yes N4M had been down for a couple weeks.  We've been having issues with the ad agency that is handling the account.  Problem now is there is no admin for the site and new members are not being allowed :(  I've been in contact with the ad agency but everything is still in limbo.  Rather frustrating to say the least!

As for my son having leave it's because he's out of the Navy now :) He's still in VA going to college on his GI Bill so he just has to work around his college schedule lol!  And that's a set schedule so we don't have to worry about that changing!

I just want to remind everyone that in case the site goes down again there is also the Navy Dads site.  They were very welcoming to us when our site was down.  They aren't as active, but at least it's a way to stay in touch.  Also there are many FB groups out there....many are secret/closed but they are out there!

Is anyone sending Christmas packages to deployed ship?  someone mentioned doing that quite a while ago but I can't remember who said they're doing that.  Have I missed the deadline?  How do I get an address to receive stuff?

Hi all - just checking in.  My son flew to MI today to spend time with his GF for Thanksgiving - saw the weather and boy is it cold there!  Better him than me lol!

Yes indeed, winter has descended upon us in the NE. Lots of snow, cold and wind..I think we had more snow yesterday than we did all of last year. skiers will love it.

I am thankful for God, country, family, friends, and the list is long from there!  So many blessings, of which my on-line community of Navy Moms is one!  Thank you for being my friends!

Yay - I'm glad you all got my message.  If you have groups you are in you might want to forward my message to all the members.  I spent a good deal of time today on the phone with my contact at the ad agency.  Unfortunately they can't get around the 100,000 member cap - the 1,000,000 they were told of is not an option :(  Soooooo they are in the process of deleting members.  No other way around it.  They said we have over 3000 new members waiting approval.

Also, if you are in FB groups maybe you can pass the message on there (just cut/paste my message).  I posted it in all my Navy FB groups but if everyone sent the message at least those that don't want to be deleted (along with all their comments) can activate their account. 

It was so wonderful to have my son, wife, grandson and soon to be granddaughter home for Thanksgiving.  They won't come back for Christmas, but I won't be greedy.  I hope you all get time (personal, virtual or written) with your sailor and that all are healthy and happy this holiday season.

Good Morning!  I didn't realize how much I missed this site until it started getting active again.  I hope we receive our deployment books (what are they called?) soon.  

I'm happy to know several of you are seeing your sailor over one holiday or the other (or both)!  I won't be seeing mine at Christmas unless we can pull together a quick trip east during one of his periods when his duty rotation is a couple or three days off.  It would be short, but sweet!

Thank you jbird, good to be here. my son is on the barge which sounds like the over flow spot for those on the Harry Truman. I hear there is more than the usual number of sailors in the Norfolk area. Blessings to you all, my son will be spending the holidays there, I hope to see him the first part of next year.

To all you moms whose sons or daughters are not able to go home for the holiday, we would be happy to invite them over to our home for Christmas dinner! We invite sailors over to our home on the weekends too. Been doing this for 16 years. :) We feed them, play board games with them, go to special events in the area, etc. If you or they are interested, we can pm you our cell number.
