Hello and Welcome! I was just wondering if that's your SR's actual first name as part of your user name? If it is, could you please change it to something that won't directly connect you to him? The Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs) sometimes come on these groups looking for information on the SRs and the less they know the better. Thanks for your understanding~~ :)
Received the form letter from my son this past Saturday! Disappointed that the address the recruiter gave to me was different then what my son had on the letter. I really hope he will receive what we have sent so far! Ship 02, DIV 912.... cant wait till 01/30/2015 to see my boy!
Anxiously awaiting some kind of contact!! I have received the box and the form letter and have mailed several letters....
Didn't think I'd be this anxious because he's always been pretty independent. It's one thing when they're around and you haven't seen the due to work or whatever, but now, you don't see them because you CAN'T! LOL!
I received a 2 minute call from my SR last Saturday. He sounded very upbeat and said it wasn't as hard as he thought it was going to be. That was sweet music to this momma's ears! He told me he passed him swim test too. :)
crystalgayle: Glad that you checked the form letter address with the recruiter's info. That is why we tell everyone if they want to write early with the recruiter's address, be sure to doublecheck it when the form letter comes in---form letter address should be the correct one. If the division number was correct, there should be no problem. Your letters will find your SR! Just may take a little longer. It is possible that the division moved to another ship from the time the recruiter got the info until the day your SR wrote the form letter.
crystalgayle525 - Heard back from Tiffany promptly. I think with the Report an Issue it goes straight to NING and it is better to message her directly. I have been off the site for about a year and so have forgotten a lot of my old tricks LOL.
She said to use a different browser. Chrome or Safari. Those work best.
I am an IE user and always forget about switching browsers when I cannot get something to work.
On a sidebar...when you all go to download your Vehicle Parking Pass...IE can be a problem. If it doesn't work try another browser.
I was just recently thinking of switching over to Firefox or Chrome as the website we use for military retirement does not work with IE.
Old habits die hard...BUT THEY MUST DIE when they are bad LOL
LOL CatMom. I've already given the girls at work a heads up in regard to hubby popping in randomly. He has to bring any mail received up to work when it comes. I'll most likely be at work any time Gabe's able to call home so hubby figures not making me wait for mail is the least he can do :)
Just got my letter today from my son....Such an amazing proud moment to receive a letter from my SR. He is in Ship 13 Div 082 and he graduates on 1/30. Anyone else have a loved one in my son's group. Yeah....I am so happy to be over this last hill. The first 11 days have been extremely difficult. It is just not talking to him or knowing how he is doing. It is my new life without him in daily. Unlike before when he has been gone and comes home but now it is he doesn't come home but to visit. I don't know if we moms are ever ready for their departure. I am overwhelmed by the pride I have for him. I just love this young man. 45 days to go. I think I can do this......
Hi Everyone! Got my form letter today!! My son is Ship 03 DIV 083. He will be going to A school in Mississippi. PIR date 1/30/2015. Overwhelmed with pride right now! Now I can mail the letters that I've had ready for the last week! :)
OK. Everyone who has gotten their letter... When your SR put the names for their guests, what did they put? Our SR has "Mom" and "Dad" as opposed to our names. Is this standard on the form we get with names being given on whatever RTC has on file for PIR? I asked my SR in the letter I wrote today, but who knows how long before he gets it and I get a response from him on the subject.
Renee - That is actually pretty standard :-) we have even seen , "...The Dog...".
The Guest List on the Form Letter is for your Recruit to let you know who they intend to invite to PIR.
About 7-10 days before PIR your SR's will fill out another Access List with the final legal name (that matches the Guests ID) to turn into Security. This is what they will make the master list for PIR from. Once that list is turned in it cannot be changed.
Hooray for all the letters!! Nice to get the confirmation on your PIR date and the correct address to write your precious SR~~ Has anyone's SR listed "The Cat??"
How do I know how many are in his SR's are in my sons division? I saw some who were sending Christmas cards to the whole division and would like to do that if possible. Also, can I send gift cards to my son in his Christmas card. No glitter etc. LOL
teaj - I posted about the gift cards on BC moms for you.
The divisions started with about 88 Recruits. They lose and gain some along the way, with most graduating about 65 to 75 strong.
lemonelephants post said to send like 95...that seems like a lot, but I guess would cover the bases. Usually, we are seeing school children making all these for the Recruits.
teaj: I would suggest that you hold the gift cards for Christmas until PIR (you could include a little IOU note in the Christmas card you send). The only time he could possibly use some would be if you get restaurant gift cards for some of the fast food places at Ricky Heaven, where they go after BattleStations (which is done within a week of PIR). So probably best to give him gift cards when you see him for PIR. where you could give him ones for stores he may enjoy...he may even want to use some of them to shop when you are there. Just as long as he keeps in mind that if flying out, he can only buy what will fit in his Navy luggage (and you pass off to him at the airport). If staying in GL for A School, no problem taking these purchases back to that base throughout the weekend.
Hello! We rec'd our letter yesterday! Our son is Ship 13, Div 081. I have 5 letters that are going out today. Some silly ones, serious ones and some with sport updates...lol
Hi all. My name is Rachel. My daughter is Mackenzie. She is ship 12 div 075. Glad to have this support during this time. Especially it being holidays, it's hard to think of her there and us here. I look forward to getting to know you, and maybe meeting some of you at the end of Jan!!!
Just got off the phone with my SR. He was requesting more info for security clearance. I've emailed the info I do have but I'm having some difficulty getting a hold of the person he asked about to get their up to date info. From what I understand they are in FL on vacation right now. I did let the RTC individual know in the email. Also asked if there was an alternative my SR wanted to use so I could provide what they needed quicker.
I was struck by the fact that, being his mom, I could hear it on his voice just how the past 12 days have been. We focus so much on being able to "see" our SR that it's easy to forget we know the nuances of their voice and can tell a great deal from it if we only listen. He sounded GOOD! :)
