Unless I can get somewhere tomorrow, I may be the only one not decorating our hotel door.  Sorry, I can't be of more help.

  • HisHeartBeat

I just got a call from my SR and he didn't pass his swim test so he can't move forward to BS21 and no graduation.
  • diannep

HisHeartBeat:  I'm so sorry you got this news.  But he should have until Wed to pass the swim test and then do BattleStations with the next group going---which would mean he would then be at PIR.  Did he tell you that?  Hopefully that will be the case.  Join the FIT group on this site because the ladies there will have much more info for you.  Just put in FIT under the GROUPS tab up top and it should come up (either says FIT division or program).  Prayers for your SR that he becomes a sailor this week!

    HisHeartBeat: I am so sorry!!

He told me not to come to graduation. I could here the RDC very clear in the background telling him what to say. I'm really frustrated now.
  • HisHeartBeat

Thanks. I will join that group.
  • teaj

HisHeartBeat I will pray for SR and hope all turns around!

  • teaj

Driving in to PIR and just wondering how far we have to walk?  What shoes to pack....seems irrelevant as I get to see my SR and that's all I really care about!!  But my feet my like the right shoes for weather and distance.. Safe travels to all!!!

  • Renee

I am so sorry, Heartbeat :(

Lax23, you won't be the only one not decorating the door. My SR has never been into "flashy" (can't think of another word) anything, so I decided not to do it. That and hubby thinks it screams break in lol

  • A navy mom

His heartbeat - so sorry - we love our children - my heart goes out to you - he will pass next swimming test - so sorry what you are going through but your child is going to do great!
  • HisHeartBeat

Thanks NavyMom. My SR is my husband. I could hear the frustration in his voice. I'm so tired from the worrying and sleepless nights. I pray and hope he is able to get back on track.
  • diannep

HisHeartBeat:  Just keep that phone close on Wed in case he calls with plans to graduate.  It DOES happen, but not all pass before their graduation date.  If he doesn't, he will stay in FIT until he does....he will get a good number of tries before he would be discharged.  Prayers for him....and for YOU!

  • diannep

teaj:  It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes for PIR....there is a good deal of walking around the base, either from shuttle drop-off, parking garage, or for those parking off-base and walking to base.  I wore boots when we were there in Feb 2010 and they were comfortable and warm!

  • CatMom509

    HisHeartBeat,

Lifting up your SR to somehow pass that swim test, get through Battlestations, and be at PIR this week!!

  • diannep

Hopefully the calls will start coming in an hour or so.

  • Vickie360

Susie- what division is he in?
  • Beronica

My son is in división 79
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Oh Susie, I am so, so sorry for you! I will be praying for you, your Sailor and your Family.

He will still get Liberty and can go out with a "Battle Buddy". There are other Sailors that will not have anyone in attendance as well. OR he may be able to go out on Liberty with a Sailor and their family. Many "adopt" one of their loved ones buddies for the day :-)

I know it is heart breaking, but I hope that you will be able to see him soon.

  • diannep

Calls will come in (I'm a Sailor) from either 075/076/077/078 or 075/076/805/912.  Post when you get the call!

  • diannep

Be checking their FB accounts too as many get on the computers before their turn at the phones!

  • CatMom509

    Hello All!

  • Reana

I got the call around 4:00 and talked for an hour! He said he was tired, but he sounded great! Can't wait for Friday!
  • sarona mama

So exciting, Reana! My son Jackson, in your guy's division, also called. I was in the middle of teaching, but was able to take the call. Like your guy he sounded very tired, but happy to be finished. Congrats Reana and everyone!
  • Renee

Less than 72 hours to go, ladies!  We're loading up the car now. Should be in GL by 3p tomorrow. See you there :)

Congrats to those who have gone thru BS already.

  • CatMom509

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!  Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey.  Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school,  ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the Christian Chat that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR.  If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~

  • A navy mom

Congratulations to all new Sailors and their families! How proud we all are! I am leaving for the airport at 2:30AM tomorrow morning for a 5:30 AM flight. Hope to be in IL at 7:30 AM tomorrow and anxious to get a phone call from my SR- see everyone at Sarges meet and greet!

  • coachjb12003

diannep do you no if Sarges have live stream for the graduation
  • Mrsjeni

    Ditto sicilia.
    Proud ⚓️ Mom here!!
  • diannep

Hmmmmm, not sure of your question, coachjb. Sarge's MeetandGreet is tomorrow (Thurs) night....not when PIR is.  The Livestream will start at 8:45 Fri morning and continue until 10:30 when PIR is over.  Many of the hotels will Livestream PIR in a public area.  Make sure to ask your sailor if she ordered the PIR DVD so you have a permanent record of your sailor's graduation.  It is mailed to you about 3 weeks later.  If she didn't, you can order it after PIR in the Photo Lab there on the base.

  • diannep

Livestream info for those who want to watch on their laptops, either back at the hotel (the extras) or friend/family members at home:

RTC has set up livestreaming of the PIR service for those who will not be able to attend the PIR service.  This will start at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of PIR.  Here's the link:

    http://navylive.dodlive.mil/

    www.livestream.com/navyrtc

Video will display under Live Events.

  • diannep

Sarge's MeetandGreet is held at the Sundance Saloon (closed off to the public....kids are welcome!)....they are kind enough to donate that space to him to have his MeetandGreet each week.  He will serve you a free meal.....if anyone wants to give him a donation to help offset the money he and his wife spend on the food (much from restaurants), it is appreciated but not necessary!  He is happy to hold this for you!

  • coachjb12003

Ok thanks I was just wondering where extra members in town could watch
  • coachjb12003

Glad you had a safe trip it's cold

    Hi Friends!

         "He who gets wisdom loves his own soul;

          he who cherishes understanding prospers."

                                                      Proverbs 19:8

  • CatMom509

    matsmom96,

Never fear!!  You have several options!  If you have the Form Letter with the password and can get to a computer with a printer, you might be able to print it again.  I don't have the link though...

Also, you can just use Sarge's shuttle to get to and from PIR.  It is only $3 per person each way and I believe Sailors ride free.  I had a rental car and opted to leave it at the hotel.  I didn't want to deal with other drivers or not getting any shortcuts right.  He drops you off at a gate and you walk 50 yards to the graduation hall entrance.  Sarge's cell phone is 847-212-0246 or you can sign up for his shuttle at tomorrow night's Meet & Greet.

In the event you still want to use your vehicle (without the Gate Pass), you could also park at the metro train station which is across from RTC and on down Buckley Road past the RTC gate entrance and around the bend.  It's $1.50 to park there.

If you are able to print another Gate Pass, this is the same train station where you turn around to come back after bypassing the long line of cars waiting to make a right turn into RTC on Buckley Road.  When you turn around to come back to the gate, you can make an easy left turn to get into the RTC gate.

I hope this helps you!  Stay safe and warm!!
