OH, Terrilynn, the Navy is no place for an OCD mom. There is Navy time, Navy needs, Navy etc. None of them are anything like the civilian world. We're here for you whenever you need us. Just remember the Navy works on "Hurry up and Wait."
  • LLovesmysailor

There are far fewer CTNs than any other CTs. So when they get enough for a class of CTNs they start one.

Although I am not by any means an OCD mom, I know that you can be a big help to your son. When my son was at Corry station, he kept complaining that they couldn't get the sand out of the carpet in their first floor room. A friend of mine (who is definitely OCD) suggested that instead of the vacuum cleaner, I should send him some of those huge lint rollers. You know, the ones that are sticky and you tear off and throw away. Well, I sent him 4 of the biggest ones I could find. They got down on their knees and rolled the carpet instead of vacuuming it. Not only did they pass inspection, but the Chief gave them compliments on the room. Needless to say, I sent them by the box load until he left Pensacola. My other son use to use the small ones on his bed while at BC. Although some one told me they now have banned them. I guess they worked too well.

pueo, There is one very good thing about being on hold at Corry. Its called Pensacola Beach. Right now I wish I were there. The weather her in PA is cold and wet. So encourage your son to enjoy the beach for the rest of us.

Hello ladies, my sailor is going to Corry station for CTM A school. He is a fleet returne so most likely he will be a class leader and our situation is a little diffrent... Althought the class length is still the same and I was wondering if anyone knows how long the time is from ATT and A school combined is. Were trying to figure out if they will move our family with him from our current duty station or not. We were moved for his A and C schools for his last rate which was specific to submarines so thats a diffrent world. I feel like were starting all over again now that he has crossrated lol. Thanks

    Laura

So my husband found out that his a school is about 5 months long if he can get his detailer to have them attach the orders to his a school orders we can go with that should put us over. He is wondering about c schools he has his choice since he was already submarine qualified he does not want to go back on submarines but wouldnt mind riding htme now and then. We hoping there is a c school long enough in Pensacola that will bring us over the 6 month mark were at 4 months and 3 weeks so far lol. He is to class up in End of April :) Thanks again ladies if anyone has any info for me it would be great! We really dont want to move ourselves so hopefully he will pick the right c school. :)
  • bulldogmamma

Meghan I am looking into that now my hubby will be there end of april and were looking at a few apartments but we have one son and a puppy so i need a pet friendly place and were already a pretty established family with lots of stuff so we are looking for a decent size. I have found places near dog track and blue angels i think .. are pretty good. Also if you usualy go by the best school districts then look for places in those areas rule of thumb are usualy the best areas. We have moved an average of every 2 years since 2002 :) lol im also a property manager
  • bulldogmamma

He should have you on your page 2 first and then his bah will depend on where he is stationed for a school or if his orders are unaccompanied then it will be based on your bascialy his home of record which now is where he went thru meps. Sometimes it changes. They may or may not move you based on how long his schooling is. As we have been thru this for sometime now were looking at moving ourselves anyway. I am over CT and could use a few months in FL lol I will message you my e-mail and you can write me there lots to type and tons of specifics for a board :) Hope I can help.
  • LLovesmysailor

If you want to know exactly how important the work our sailors are doing, then check out the CNN special Cyber Shock Wave. Its on now and will be repeated tomorrow at 8pm. There is a lot of mention of the Cyber Command which in the Navy is also know as the 10th Fleet.
  • bulldogmamma

Yes thats correct. if you dont mind me asking what rate is going to be? My husband is to class up End of April & detach Aug/sept time frame
  • bulldogmamma

Oh cool I guess CTT and CTM training is around the same time frame.
  • bulldogmamma

The hold time is usualy for clearnace. Lots of things depend on that. My husbands first one took almost 3 years in the making but he is a submariner. he dosnt need to be on hold for it since he already has the upgrade. these things can be very time consuming and frustrating but worth it! :) Good luck to your saliors ladies.
  • LLovesmysailor

Cheryk Lynn, My son will also be heading for Hawaii. But not until later in the Fall. He is shippping his car and hopefully his cat. I love him but I so do not want to keep that cat for 2 years.
  • LLovesmysailor

At the moment they are telling him to get a cat carrier and find an airline that will allow the cat on board. This is a very hyper cat and we are not sure how she will do on such a long trip. Thing is, this cat hates me. She has never forgiven me for the time he was at GL and Corry station and he couldn't keep her with him.
  • LLovesmysailor

No, I do not want to spend the next two years with a cat that sits and looks at me. The expression is somewhere between "give me my sailor back" and " my breeding is better than yours!" LOL
  • CharleneM

My son just got to Corry Station for A School for CTT. About how long will he be there? I keep hearing lots of different times! What usually follows A School? Thanks!
  • CharleneM

Congratultions K-Illinois! Thanks for the info, too.
  • LindainIvorVA

Hi everyone.. my daughter PIR'd 4/9 and seems to b ok.. just cking in this is my first time on this group. for some reason my daughter doesn't get a C school.. oh well.
thanks for all the info !
  • LLovesmysailor

LindainIvorVA, What rate is your daughter going into? The CTNs don't have a C school because they Navy has merged the A & C schools and extended the length of the school. They are hoping this cuts down on the drop out rate for CTNs.
  • LindainIvorVA

llovemytwosailors... she's suppose to be CTT ... was disappointed lots of people got C school but she never got asked for it.. (it's ok)
  • bulldogmamma

Just wanted to pop in and say that Corry station is a very nice base! One of the nicest bases we have ever been stationed at. We live about 15 min from base however since the area surrounding isnt so great for apartments and we have a 6 yr old and dog. Pensacola is beautiful and the beaches are amazing! My husband checks in next week and starts school two days later. Anyones sailor starting CTM school?
  • LindainIvorVA

Jill H .. thanks.. she seemed concerned..think at this rate they just lucky to get in !!!
  • redpanda320 Ship 07 Div 205

do they get time after basic or are they sent straight to tech school or whatever?
  • redpanda320 Ship 07 Div 205

my bf is supposed to go to fl, least that's what they said before it could have changed... but i guess we'll find out...
  • LindainIvorVA

Just curious, does anyone have son or daughter awaiting school for CTT ? my daughter seems to think that she'll be there for more than 6 mo waiting for school. is this true or she being a drama queen? I'd appreciate anyones input.. thank u !
  • bulldogmamma

Sailors darlin thats great.. my hubby is starting his att stuff this week and then is supposed to be at corry by june, is what his order say at least. So they are probably going thru together.
  • LindainIvorVA

wow...how interesting...appears that the clearance is the major hold up... o lord.
nobody has let me know yet if they've been contacted regarding the clearance. guess it all takes time..thanks for all the info !! I was hoping to go see her for her 19th b-day this month.. not sure tho...still trying to get employment! GRRR.....
  • bulldogmamma

The clearance takes a long time my husbands took a while and he was a military brat so checking all over was a pain, they spoke to random hs classmates and old friends and teachers. When he was upgraded they checked with my family and friends and knocked on the doors of neighbors in old apartments and housing we had lived in. Its intense.
  • LindainIvorVA

thanks ! I know but she seems to think she'll be there between 6-12 mo.. but, she don't think that's a bad thing... LOL.. she seems to be doing so well.. guess she's getting the day off cuz she organized a Navy picnic.. who wud of thunk ? LOL..
oh happy days...everyone have gr8 day..
  • momoffour(Ship 11 div 119)

So just because they have started class, does not mean that their clearance is finished? I am surprised that they let them start.
  • LindainIvorVA

  • LindainIvorVA

Hi !!! I'm so happy to hear from someone !! my daughter isn't going to C school guess the recruiter didn't mention that.. but it's ok... i was a Radioman (back long time ago) which is now IT.. but everything has changed so much ! I can't keep up!
I really appreciate your response to me.. i'm on the P-cola and Corry Sta group but mainly they're Aircrew... My daughter wants to go to Europe... so who knows..

  • CorinneL

    Hello -
Our son arrived in Pensacola last week. His training will be for CTR. We haven't heard from him for a few days - which probably means he's settling in so well!
  • LLovesmysailor

My only news is that my son is being sent to Hawaii. We don't have a date for the transfer yet, but he is going with several guys that he's working with in Norfolk. He's also a CTN.
  • CorinneL

    Jill H & Everyone -
Thanks for the support. This A school sounds like a whole different ballgame. I don't think I have to worry about him as much as when he was at BC.
  • LindainIvorVA

Wow... this is getting active now .. LOL .. thanks ...
  • CorinneL

    clockard -
Thanks! Her name is Cinder and she's a handful! She knows when she's being naughty AND she can usually get away with it. We have 2 other cats and a dog - they all demand lots of attention.
  • LindainIvorVA

does anyone know if there's a place locally that will deliver a birthday cake ??
    thanks much... :)
  • LindainIvorVA

hey guys !! I got great news if interested... Sherry's Cake Shop in P-cola delivers B-day cakes !!! YES !!! my baby b-day the 25th will be 19 !!! and now i can send her cake... oh...
happy happy !!! guess Corry Sta don't get mail on Sat or I wud've sent homemade but don't want it sit 4 ever.. plus she can't get to post office cuz her class ends late..
  • LindainIvorVA

Hey guys... my bad... this Sherry's bakery charges $35.00 just for delivery !!! Cake not included... that's a bit steep i think... comments??? i'm bummed
  • LLovesmysailor

If I remember correctly, the bakery is on the other side of town. I guess it depends on the cost of the cake.
  • LindainIvorVA

i know.. but isn't $35 delivery fee a little high ? i can order online for a lot cheaper.. but wanted to do local for her... geez louise... i need to get that job
  • CorinneL

Cats in sailor suits - what an image .....lol!

LindainIvorVA - my son's 25th is Sunday - I don't think my b-day card will make it on time - I bet he'll get it Mon or Tues - oh well. Great idea about b-day cake - I know you want to do something special for her. You probably can order something from somewhere there and have it delivered for less than $35 plus cake. Good luck!
  • LindainIvorVA

wow.. i didn't expect such a response !! LOL.. i wanna thank all of you ! don't think any local grocery stores deliver.. from what i hear on the N4M P-cola group. :(
i asked my daugher what her sked was on Tues but she hasn't answered.. told me to have it deliveredl like regular mail.. i dont want tell her what it is... i asked her barracks.. she said.. just my mailing addr.. jeepers... wanted it delivered to her in person... like at the quarterdeck or something.. so it's still up in air..
dag gone it .... thanks for being so kind !!!
  • LLovesmysailor

wiloSailorMom, Actually you were visited by the FIS not the FBI. They are the ones that do the security clearences for the military. They are also a lot less scary than the FBI. FIS stands for Federal Investigative Service.
  • LindainIvorVA

    aw.. bless his heart..
