You know it's something l've been looking at and there aren't very many married men that join and if they do they are still usually in like the first year. Me and my husband have been married 5 years now! So we are still searching for answers.

I'm new to the group and eager to learn a lot from you N4Ms! My son leaves GL tomorrow for CTT school in Pensacola. Graduation was beyond words but still am so glad BT is over. I'm trying to find a CTT window cling or bumper sticker. Has anyone found one on-line?

Per the security clearance, he probably only just got his interim security clearance which is based on the completion of minimum investigative
requirements and granted on a temporary basis, pending the completion of the full investigative. The SBI takes awhile. Beleive me, holding company is one of the best times in the Navy. I know at the time the Sailors want to hurry up and get on with their lifes, but you learn later on as a sailor those holding company days are truly awesome.
LindainIvorVA - You've got to let me know where she's going. I tell ya, we are about 40 CTT's short here, they fill the fleet way before the shore sites... Expect a ship... Woo-hoo....Surface Warfare pin coming soon....

Make sure she understand about HARP duty (Hometown Area Recruiting Assistance Program). It's a great way to save that leave.

Actually, I bet she's gonna be a CTT-1736 or CTT-1737. We are getting a heck of alot of those guys in lately. So they have got to have sailors in the pipeline to replace them.
Here is the NEC manual, just go to the 1700's and you'll find those NEC.
I must admit, that SLQ-32 is actually an awesome piece of electronics, it comes from the old EW rating era. But they keep updating it. It's like it brand new.

I thought she'd be a SLQ-32 sailor. Sounds just what she wanted to do. So, she's a CTT-1736. She'll enjoy that.
You know about ESWS and EAWS warfare pins, now they have created another called Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist (EIDWS) (aka Nerd Warfare).
It's a brand new pin for people in Nerd areas. It's actually a really cool pin.
Here is the actual instructions that started it:

We in the Cryptologic community are a special breed. We do alot of thing differently than the real Navy. Always try to do a search for Cryptology and/or Corry. You'll find the answers you need.
I personally would shy away for the Pensacola group. The reason is they mainly work with Airdale (people in the aircraft community), and they really don't have the knowledge of the Crypto community. They have a tendency to leading you down the wrong road, instead of saying they don't know.
Don't get me wrong, they're great if your looking for resturants and hotels in the area, but if its crypto rating specific, then look here or the links clockard posted are the best.
We are all here to help one another, if you have any questions, just ask. All these members will give you help. These members have already blazed the trail, and they can tell you their experiences. If you ever have an extremely hard Navy question, I can help you, I'm usually hanging out in the CTN http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ctn area.
Again, welcome aboard!

My twin sons leave for BC on 11/2 and have both signed for CTR. If anyone has any advice on A school for when they get to Corry please post up. Thanks for what seems like a fun group!

CTR is an awesome rating. Frankly all CT ratings are awesome. The main advise I would give any sailor that is in "A" school is to buy a CAC card reader. This reader will allow you to gain information that most sailors fail to look at. You can see what orders are coming up, and gear your dream sheet around those orders. Remember, in "A" school orders are usually chose by class standing, but they are also looked at by dream sheets. It's better to submit for it.
Secondly, it is very important that you sons understand MILPERSMAN 1300-1100, "IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER ASSIGNMENT OR REASSIGNMENT POLICY"
http://www.npc.navy.mil/NR/rdonlyres/F2BA7B80-20B1-4434-B6BF-293051...
I recommend they join www.NavyDep.com It has alot of useful info for deppers

No idea about orders... ggrrrrr.. imagine it be a ship.. saying may take up to 2 months maybe more.. (bet it costing Nav tons of money with them on hold) wow...
Thanks everyone ! I'm a happy camper now

I am a newbie on here. My son has graduated A school for CTT and is in C school. Anyone know how long C school lasts? What happens after graduation from C school? He has requested subs, but has not heard if he will be placed there. Will he go to another school if he gets to go sub? Thanks for all of your help and I look forward to meeting more great people!

Thanks for the other info. I'm trying to find out when a certain NEC is being available, which I'm hoping my nephew will get (since I do the about the same type of job).
