Clockard - my son is also stationed at Ft. Mead - he's a CTN - started out as a CTO and was in the 1st class through CTN school.....
  • CTmomof3

Looking for some info. I have one son that's a CTR been in for 2 1/2 years. Now my youngest son is looking into joining the Navy as a possible CTN. I know nothing about this CT rate. Can anyone share any info on this? If you want to send me a PM feel free. I just don't want him to get into something that is "programing" as I don't think he'll like that.
  • Craig

CTmomof3 - I totally agree with clockard, go over to the CTN section and we can load up your brain with info....
  • CTmomof3

Ok thanks, didn't know there was a CTN site
  • LindainIvorVA

  • PatriciaT

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to the group and eager to learn a lot from you N4Ms! My son leaves GL tomorrow for CTT school in Pensacola. Graduation was beyond words but still am so glad BT is over. I'm trying to find a CTT window cling or bumper sticker. Has anyone found one on-line?
  • Craig

LindainIvorVA - My nephew is doing great, he in over at NAS doing his 1st part of CTT over there. He loves being in the Navy. I think most kids are because they are earning money doing something that is cool.
I love the NavyDay Ball. I always had so much fun there... That's one party the Navy does correct!
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig.. that's so cool .. glad he's doing well ! my daughter will be grad "c" school soon i hope and just waiting on orders.. that's the hardest part... hurry up & wait!
    grrrr....
  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

Craig...when was nephews PIR...wasn't it 9/1...my son is 1/2 way thru ATT and looking forward to getting to Corry for CTT...I think he is finally learning that patience is really a virtue! It was nice that he got his security clearance 2 weeks ago...one more thing to check off the CTT list!
  • Craig

rorys - No, it was actually Thursday 9/2. Usually they always have them on Fridays, but since Monday was a holiday (Veterans day), they held it one day earilier on Thursday (9/2)...

Per the security clearance, he probably only just got his interim security clearance which is based on the completion of minimum investigative
requirements and granted on a temporary basis, pending the completion of the full investigative. The SBI takes awhile. Beleive me, holding company is one of the best times in the Navy. I know at the time the Sailors want to hurry up and get on with their lifes, but you learn later on as a sailor those holding company days are truly awesome.

LindainIvorVA - You've got to let me know where she's going. I tell ya, we are about 40 CTT's short here, they fill the fleet way before the shore sites... Expect a ship... Woo-hoo....Surface Warfare pin coming soon....
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig, yea that's too funny ..dat's what she says !!! i swear ... just hope if she get ship it not here at home in Norf.. but then again she said if it is.. then she go to Old Domininion for courses... if she can get her mind off the dag gone men !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    LOL ..
  • Craig

Linda - Do you know the NEC she got? I want to look it up to see what she's gonna do. She should try to get a ship out of Denver - ha.... I bet she is ready to get her life going.

Can you beleive it's almost that time. Time is about to begin for her to start on the search for 10ft of fallopian tube, Polka-dot paint, Chem-Light batteries, and finding the Golden Rivet...-ha
  • CharleneM

My son graduates from "C" school next week. Are parents allowed to attend? He's at CID/Corry in Pensacola. Thanks!
  • Craig

    Linda,
Make sure she understand about HARP duty (Hometown Area Recruiting Assistance Program). It's a great way to save that leave.

All these women got their kids grad next week .. wow.. think mine got another 2 wks
    congrats !
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig... not sure what my daughter talking about... she has no clue what "NEC" means.. Im like how can you not know ? So maybe she's not in "C" school...
she's mad at me for asking cuz she knows i know what's going on.. do you think there just a school for shipboard CTT's???? help me out here.. i can't get no where with the 19 yr old know everything about the Nav ! LOL ...she did ask for Japan, HI, & San Diego in that order... prob won't happen.. worried . :(
  • Craig

Linda - She's 19yo, she knows everything. Just ask her ~ha......
Actually, I bet she's gonna be a CTT-1736 or CTT-1737. We are getting a heck of alot of those guys in lately. So they have got to have sailors in the pipeline to replace them.
Here is the NEC manual, just go to the 1700's and you'll find those NEC.
I must admit, that SLQ-32 is actually an awesome piece of electronics, it comes from the old EW rating era. But they keep updating it. It's like it brand new.

  • LindainIvorVA

Craig, why wouldn't she know ?? She say I'm CTT Mom "duh" .. shipboard for those nec's? I asked her to ask instr on Mon.. her response was "NO" .. LMAO.
tks for ya help.. hope ya nephew and all your fam doing gud.

no more patch cords tho... dang ! sssstttt ! ouch! least they had blue mat underneath.. lol.
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig, daughter mentioned something about information warfare pin ??? what dat?
im old... said she working on that SLQ-32 and Aegis.. which excites her cuz Dad put Aegis in on ships here in Norf... lord have mercy...
said something bout getting 3 pins.. idk.. she texting me.. don't call of course..
  • Craig

    Linda,
I thought she'd be a SLQ-32 sailor. Sounds just what she wanted to do. So, she's a CTT-1736. She'll enjoy that.

You know about ESWS and EAWS warfare pins, now they have created another called Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist (EIDWS) (aka Nerd Warfare).
It's a brand new pin for people in Nerd areas. It's actually a really cool pin.
Here is the actual instructions that started it:

    Hi everyone.
New to all this. My son is in boot camp, but will be starting school for CTR when he graduates. Right now he is ship 11 div 362 Pir 11/05.
I am totally new to any and all of this! Looking forward to meeting new friends.
  • LindainIvorVA

Tracy ...... you will find it's quiet or gets a lil busy.. but "CRAIG" on here is the expert. he's retired CT & quite the asset.. Are you on the welcome to Pcola site? that's very informative also. Jacq & Robin are the experts there. Craig is the expert here. LOL.
    Welcome !
  • Craig

    Tracy, welcome.
We in the Cryptologic community are a special breed. We do alot of thing differently than the real Navy. Always try to do a search for Cryptology and/or Corry. You'll find the answers you need.

I personally would shy away for the Pensacola group. The reason is they mainly work with Airdale (people in the aircraft community), and they really don't have the knowledge of the Crypto community. They have a tendency to leading you down the wrong road, instead of saying they don't know.

Don't get me wrong, they're great if your looking for resturants and hotels in the area, but if its crypto rating specific, then look here or the links clockard posted are the best.

We are all here to help one another, if you have any questions, just ask. All these members will give you help. These members have already blazed the trail, and they can tell you their experiences. If you ever have an extremely hard Navy question, I can help you, I'm usually hanging out in the CTN http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ctn area.

    Hello All,

My twin sons leave for BC on 11/2 and have both signed for CTR. If anyone has any advice on A school for when they get to Corry please post up. Thanks for what seems like a fun group!
  • Craig

    Welcome idahojeep....
CTR is an awesome rating. Frankly all CT ratings are awesome. The main advise I would give any sailor that is in "A" school is to buy a CAC card reader. This reader will allow you to gain information that most sailors fail to look at. You can see what orders are coming up, and gear your dream sheet around those orders. Remember, in "A" school orders are usually chose by class standing, but they are also looked at by dream sheets. It's better to submit for it.

Secondly, it is very important that you sons understand MILPERSMAN 1300-1100, "IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER ASSIGNMENT OR REASSIGNMENT POLICY"
    http://www.npc.navy.mil/NR/rdonlyres/F2BA7B80-20B1-4434-B6BF-293051...

I recommend they join www.NavyDep.com It has alot of useful info for deppers
  • Craig

Asley - Go to this link to find out about CTR http://www.navydep.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=77
All the CT ratings are awesome.... Congrats on your freshly minted sailor!
  • LindainIvorVA

    Willo..

Hi !!!! We tried to take pics of your handsome young "squared away" sailor with our cell phones !!! Were you able to get copy ? I almost missed the ceremony by going to the church vice the actual school.. i was a wreck ! But they waited for me and some young lady with her darling daughter baby girl.
3 people were there that's all.. but I of course was a Proud MAMA.. i broke down like an idiot.. (can't help it) only child thing ... LOL ..
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig... my daughter did take us there... but I didn't have access to email to get on web cam ! Darn !!! enjoyed it very much..

Bobby Box .. also she took us to McGuires (spelling sorry) is that the one you meant? Just enjoyed time with my baby girl... too short.. but thoroughly worth the trip ! would do it again in a heartbeat..

No idea about orders... ggrrrrr.. imagine it be a ship.. saying may take up to 2 months maybe more.. (bet it costing Nav tons of money with them on hold) wow...

Thanks everyone ! I'm a happy camper now
  • LindainIvorVA

craig, what i mean is I didn't have access to internet while there so I didn't know to get on webcam ... but it's all good .. How's nephew ?
  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

Hi Idahojeep: Just had to take a peek where you were from in Idaho...my best friend of over 30 years has been in the Post Falls/Couer D' Alene area for over 20 years. I try to visit there as often as I can.
My son is just finishing ATT (maybe this week?) and then hopefully to Corry son to start A school as CTT. Good luck to your twins!
  • LindainIvorVA

Willo, my daughter sent them to your son so he should have them on his phone.
she also said he is very squared away.. I asked him if he was going to Navy Ball he said yea i guess... LOL ... what a cutie ! the pics were taken outside his room ..
I know you're proud too! how can ya not be ?? I stay in touch ! Go Navy !
  • Tripper'smomBetsy

    Hello all!
I am a newbie on here. My son has graduated A school for CTT and is in C school. Anyone know how long C school lasts? What happens after graduation from C school? He has requested subs, but has not heard if he will be placed there. Will he go to another school if he gets to go sub? Thanks for all of your help and I look forward to meeting more great people!
    Betsy
  • Craig

Linda / Willo - Did they offer more than one "C" school for your sailors? ie did they break off some of the CTT's to go to one "C" school, and the other set for another?
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig im not real sure either.. think the 6yr ones may have gotten diff school. however, she had 6yr ones in her shipboard class... so IDK really either !

Willo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter going to USS Chaffe (spelling) in Hawaii !!! she's so darn thrilled she blew my ears off ! Think she said your son going to Japan on ship !!! WAHOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for you too Craig ! LOL .. im so dag gone excited I cant stand it !!!!!!!! also, my daughter never requested a C school she found out when there in A school i guess... hhhmmm.......
  • Craig

    Linda & Willo -
Congrats on your sailors! Did anyone in the class get what they call DIRSUP (Direct Support)?

Thanks for the other info. I'm trying to find out when a certain NEC is being available, which I'm hoping my nephew will get (since I do the about the same type of job).
  • LindainIvorVA

Craig, i ck but don't think so .....
