Craig, my daughter said one got aircrew and one got subs. and they don't give out DIRSUP any more ( i dont know that what she said)
  • Craig

Willo/Linda - It sounds like your sailors are 1735. What I'd like to see my nephew get is a 9102.

You can see all the "C" schools for every rating at this link. Just do a search on "CTT" (without quotes) to find all the "C" schools CTT's can go to. They are in numeric order.

Goto Volume 2 at this link:
(Note: the HTML one is easier to view, but the PDF one is easier to search ie CTT)

  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

Got a call from our sailor today that he has finished ATT and is packing & heading to Corry on Tuesday. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long for his CTT A-school.
  • idahojeep

    Congrats to him rorysmom!
  • Craig

Janet R. - I have some fun CTI stories I can share with you guys. However, some of them you won't understand unless you know some of the backgound about CT's in general...

I am actually starting to build a group to get more parents into these smaller groups (cryptology, CTN, IT, CTI) because these are the true groups that have the information family members need.

So, even though the group is not built completely yet, I want you to read a thread I posted called "Who am I ? - I am a commissioned U.S. Navy warship currently be held hostage by a hostile government" which is located at this link >>> http://www.navyformoms.com/group/corry

Once you understand about this, then you'll understand some of the CTI stories...

My son in C school just called. He received his orders last week, but an opening came up for submarines, and he changed over to subs. Does anyone have information about CTT's on subs? He said something about direct ops? Is there a place that I can go to read more about this? I am totally confused!
  • LindainIvorVA

Trippers Mom..... im sure Craig will know.... request him as friend.. or w8 for him to respond... wow.. Subs that's awesome !!!!!!!! good $$$$$ and fantastic opportunities... Good Luck & Congrats to your son !!!!!!!!
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

Hi Everyone, I just joined. My son just arrived in Pensacola and is waiting for A school to be a CTN. Does anyone know if there is a C school for CTN?
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

    Hi askley_bob!!
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

    I meant Ashley! Sorry!
  • momoffour(Ship 11 div 119)

My son just finished CTN and there only one 6 month school. I believe they combined A and C schools.
  • northchannel

Kelly, if your son is a CTN, the best two groups for information are below.

Tripper's Mom - What your son is telling you is he will be a "Direct Support" (DIRSUP) guy. Out of all the positions in the CT Navy, I love dirsup the best. I was dirsup out of Subic Bay Philippines. When Navy ships enter certain places in the world, we want CT's to be aboard.

You just can't have CT's PCS to certain ships because there just isn't enough CT's and not enough work. So they use us when they need us. So, suppose we needed CT's on a Guided Missle Cruiser going into the Persian Gulf. Back in my time the CTM's came from the Subic Philippines, the CTO's came from Guam, the CTT and CTR came from Clark AFB Philippines, the CTI's came from Hawaii, and the CTA's came from Japan. We all fly to Japan and board the ship and activate the spaces. We go to the Persian Gulf and do our magic. Then about 3 months later, the ship returns to Japan, where us CT's disembark, and fly back to our duty stations. Direct Support is so much fun... He will love that.
Secondly, your son will be a 9135. Which means he's a Cluster Snoop guy. I'm not going to tell you what they do. However, you might want to do a google search for AN/USQ-149(v)2 and also look at this article. Which are all public knowledge. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/DRS+Technologies+Receives+New+Electro...
  • Craig

Kelly - To help other CTN's, ask your CTN question in clockard's CTN area. That way it helps other CTN's coming up the pipeline. I'm sure someone will answer you quick, since I'm sure that person already knows the answer....~ha....
  • Tripper'smomBetsy

Thank you Craig! Great information, although some I just have to read and re-read to try and understand!
  • Craig

Tripper - Sorry about that. Sometimes I do over people's heads, and I try not to. If I'm confusing you, then I'm confusing the others too. Which is not what I want. The easier the better, that way you can understand what your sailor is doing. Once you guys understand, then the next family member that needs the questions answered, you guys can explain it to them on terms that are basic.
Again sorry, didn't mean the confuse you....
  • sarahw1961

Craig - it could be sensory overload! There's so much information to absorb at first - well - all throughout I guess.....we really really appreciate you breaking it down for us! I've had a lot of 'aha' moments on here!

Hope everyone is doing good! Have a wonderful week-end - and hopefully better weather than we have!
  • Craig

Tripper - I just sent you an message. Give me a shout....

Sarah - I know, it probably is sensroy overload. Tripper probably looks like this: ~ha

  • LindainIvorVA

hahahaha... too funny !!!! i love that pic ! I feel like dat alot lately !
  • sweet_steph

    craig
that info you gave about the link with the c school. i found very interesting. my husband is also a ctt but i couldn't find the c school info
  • sweet_steph

    trippersmom
did he go to c school first? how long was that? my hubby is in a school right now...
  • Craig

sweet steph - If you need help finding the "C" school just let me know. As long as you know his four digit NEC number, I can find it within a minute. Is he still in school?
Just ask if you need help....
  • sweet_steph

I'll ask him is that something i can find on his paystub on the internet?
  • Craig

sweet - If he has already gone through "C" school, then he would have earned a NEC. That four digit number is located on Page 4 of his service record. It is not located any other place (ie it's not on his paystub).
  • Nicole[: [Proud.Navy.Wife]

So, I'm new to the Navy life, my boyfriend just graduated bootcamp friday and I am trying to learn all I can. He goes to Pensacola tomorrow for A school, he is going to be a CTR, what can anyone tell me about his job? Anything will help. Thanks!
  • Craig

Nicole - Go to this link, and scroll down to "CTR" and you will see kind-of what they do....

  • Nicole[: [Proud.Navy.Wife]

Thanks everyone! I'm definitely gonna check out that site Craig!
  • LindainIvorVA

Heidi ! wow ! happy you cking in ! hope he doing well !!!!
  • Craig

willo - It's not OPSEC. For example if your sailor is going to the USS Boxer, then beleive me, you will be joining the N4M group looking for others members who's sailor is on the USS Boxer.
  • Craig

Wow... Read about this CTT, man is he screwed for life....
Please pass this along to your sailors. A little education doesn't hurt, expecially when it hits home (ie this kid was a CTT)...

  • LindainIvorVA

Craig.. that's pretty scarey ... wow. makes me wonder if they trying to get of Nav.
stupid way to ruin your life.
  • Craig

Linda - to serve 14 months in jail is not a easy way to get out. The easy way is just to say you're gay. America can accept someone being gay, but they can't accept someone using or selling drugs. Remember, all these guys went to a general court marital, which means a felony. That means they can never vote, never own a fire arm, or never work for a company that does business with the government..... So sad.

I'm one of those people that love reading about things like this. I find it interesting. For those that like the same stuff, go to this link and you can find alot of others. To me, it's like a mystery book.

  • CorinneL

Just heard from our son yesterday - he finally got new orders. He was waiting for hardcopy on the first verbals and found out they were cancelled. He will stay for C school and then he's assigned to the USS Halsey in the spring. We feel like we're moving on to new adventures!
  • CorinneL

CTR school runs 16 weeks once classes start. The waiting during hold time is even tough on Moms.

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement!
