Congrats navymom3!  Enjoy the trip to Pensicola!  It is wonderful experience!
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

navymom, have a great time at the graduation.  Congrats!
  • Angie (Dan's Mom)

@Navymom3    as part of your son's PIR group, I remember how very much we all prayed and sent good wishes to your son that he would graduate with the rest of our sailors.  Now to be honor grad of his A school class is totally amazing   I am so personally proud of him!!!
  • Craig

Navymom - Bravo Zulu to your son....

  • NavyMom4J

I too remember Navymom3- how much all of us were pulling for him to graduate on time! Whoo Hooo.  Bravo Zulu to your son!!!
  • Deborah (CTT son)

Son graduates next Friday and will be heading to Pensacola as CTT 4 year.  I already have the CAC card reader and laptop packed and ready to go.  I had a note on my calendar that said to tell him to ask for a CT barracks as soon as possible but for the life of me don't remember why.  I know Craig said at one time to tell him to do that.  Anybody shed some light or have any other advice that I could pass on to him before he leaves for Pensacola?
  • navymom3

Just got back from Pcola and graduation. It was a wonderful thing to see. It is more personal then the PIR. They read off everyones name, where they are from and where they are going. Then they will stop so you can take pics. I will post a pic after I get back from our molly adopt a sailor packing party on saturday. I made 29 pillowcases and my friend made 20.

Deborah- He might have said IT barracks as my son said they are better. He is trying to change to one since he is now staying in Pcola for C school.

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Deborah, my son graduates next week from A school in Pensacola as a CTT 4 year.  Lol!

I agree with navymom,, that I"m sure it's the IT barracks that he will want to request.   My son was in the other barracks for about 2 weeks and couldn't wait to get out of there.

  • Craig

Deborah - I really don't remember saying CT barracks, but if I did, my point would have been, try not to get assigned to bldg 1082 or 1084, it is the ghetto.  They were condemmed when I was there, and they haven't really fixed them up. They still suck.

He wants the 3700 series barracks.  The 3715, 3716, 3717 are the best. That series 3715 thru 3717 are called the satellite barracks and are completely away from the 3702 thru 3710 barracks.  They're way more nicer....

    Here is some pictures:

Well, I was bored as heck at work yesterday, and since my nephew (who's a CTT) wanted to have a t-shirt made that had CTT on it, I thought I'd make one up for him.

I thought it came out kind-of good....

  • navymom3

Very cool Craig. They had some CT shirts at the nex on base yesterday but did not have my sons size.
  • navymom3

iSmile- There were not any CTM shirts. They were just CT. I also tried to find the coin you can get also but they only had some of the a coins. I will just order it and have it engraved. I will look on the site and see if they have shirts also. The CT shirts they did have just had a patch on them and my son said they were lame. LOL He like the one that had more on it but not in his size. I am going to look on this site. https://store.nwtmint.com/Navy/Rate/ALL
  • Craig

Here at the logo's for CTN...

    The official one...

    The un-official one...

  • navymom3

My son's full graduating class. He is standing next to the podium on the right.
  • navymom3

My son getting his Honor grad certificate.
  • cinder

You must be one proud mama.
  • glassdog

Cool Craig!  I have found generic tee's for CT's but none for the individual groups.  Wish I could find one for CTR"s!  I am an artist and have designed many shirt designs but it is hard to do if you don't know what the job really is!
  • sunshine73

Congrats again navymom3! A proud day for you and your sailor. I enjoyed A school graduation a whole lot more than PIR. don't get me wrong, it was great but I just wanted to see my kid.lol

Glassdog~I saw one CTR shirt in P'cola at the Nex. I remember wanting it but it was a huge size. We were gonna look again but haven't been back. Hurricane Irene here and then TS Lee  there stopped us from going. If I see one, I will let you know. If anyone else sees anything, I too would like to have one. I have a Navy shirt that has an eagle in a sailor's cover and everyone wants it. It is my favorite.

  • NavyMom4J

Craig- love the design you could definetly market this! I would buy one for my CTT!!!
  • NavyMom4J

Navy mom 3- awesome pictures! I have similar ones of my CTT who graduated in August. No sure if they go through a similar ceremony when they graduate Shipboard ops? He graduates September 30th from Shipboard ops and then I hope gets to come home a while before he reports to San Diego.
  • Craig

mom3 - Awesome picture.... It's always good seeing those types of pictures.  btw:  I like the Marines in the background.  Someone forgot to say "at ease"....  ~ha

Mom4J - Why buy one?  Just right click the mouse and copy it.  Take the jpeg to a t-shirt shop and have them print one up....

glassdog - Let me tell you, there is a total shortage of rating specific logo's.  We should start a company that sells only cool rating types of t-shirts.  We'd sell thousands of them.  There is truly no one else in the business to do them.

For my website, I was actually thinking of having someone make logo's, I need a way to pay for the hosting and software, and this is one item that I know would sell.   The logo would have to be incredibly awesome so these sailors would wear them proudly.

  • navymom3

Thanks everyone we are very proud of him. I had him read all the comments and he was very thankful.
  • glassdog

Craig starting a rating specific tee shirt company would be great.  Most of my tees were hand painted with one of a kind tees.  However I have designed many that could be used.  The thing about the ratings for me is that I don't understand much of what is done. PS  I have a business license for Colorado!

Sunshine73 keep me in mind on the tee shirt.

In the mean time Craig if you are serious contact me as I think you are right!

  • Craig

glassdog - You going to Molly's packing party?  If so, then we need to sit down and talk.  This is like a Reese's Peanut butter cup, I know the Navy and you know the graphics.  Together, we could do something really cool.  Like I said, this is one area that most people haven't a clue.  It's an untapped market.

I'd like to see some of your graphics.

  • glassdog

Yes we will be there!  I will bring some shirts I have done and some of my sketch books.  Much of it is realistic but I have also done some things that are representational.  Just depends on my mood and on what is needed.  I think this would be fun!  Look forward to seeing you there!

Anyone else in Colorado on 10/1 come join us at the packing party.  Info is on the Colorado mom's group site!

  • Angie (Dan's Mom)

    Love the tshirt idea!!!!!
  • Angie (Dan's Mom)

Ok  Im gonna brag a little bit.   Here is my son at Ft Meade.  He is part of the honor guard there now   He's doing honor guard while waiting to take his polygraph this coming Thursday.  This was at the 9/11 ceremony - actually on 9/9  My son is the tall one in the front on the left    I just randomly saw it on the Ft Meade facebook page

  • navymom3

Angie- Congrats on seeing the pic. At least he is keeping himself busy while waiting for the polygraph. My son had to take a polygraph last week before graduation.
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Angie, great picture.  How wonderful for your son.

My son graduates tomorrow as a CTT!  Woohoo!  I'm in Pensacola and can't wait for the ceremony.  Still no orders, though.  :(

  • navymom3

Betsy congrats to you and your son. Make sure you have your camera ready as he will let you take pics. Sit on the right side on the isle it makes it easier to get out for pics. Get as close to the front as possible. If you stand they will stop so you can get pics. I was there last week it was great. Enjoy!
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Thanks, Navymom3 and congratulations to your sailor too.  I got some great pictures.  Boy, what a difference from BC graduation.  They are so very family friendly.  :)  It was awesome!  I took individual pictures of each of the 20 sailors in his class.  Out of 20, only 4 had family members there.  My son has forwarded all of them to his buddies, so their family can see.  :)   Here is my boy!
  • navymom3

Congrats Betsy glad you had a great time. Your sailor is handsome.
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

    navymom3, thank you.

I'm not sure Lady Hamilton.  They did the IT graduatings with all the CT's graduating, so it was big enough.

  • navymom3

Lady Hamilton, since there school building at Corry are secured buildings they do all grads at the chapel on Corry. So there are multiple classes graduating at the same time.
  • CTmomof3

I need some advice.  I've read the above discussion on moving household goods however my DIL is in need of clarification. Here goes. My son has orders for Okinawa in March. Right now he's in a C school at Corry and his wife has moved back home until Feb.  The moving people came 2 weeks ago and packed up their apt in GA. She's not sure where her things are at the moment (we assume storage for now) Here's the issue.  They were told they can only ship 2400 LBS. She was informed a few days ago the weight of their things is 3200lbs.  What happens in this case?  Being naive at the moving process she was thinking that before the HHG was shipped she would be able to..split...what they really wanted to take and store the rest for 3yrs.  She told me there  was no way for them to know the true weight until it was too late. Also, she was told that they can take up to 400lbs with them. Does this come off the 2400lb allowance?

    Hope someone has answers. Thanks.

  • salpetty

My daughter just arrived to Corry Station last night.  She's a CTT.  I just talked to to her and she sounds great.  I can't wait to see how the next few months of her life unfold :)
  • Craig

Salpetty - Sounds like she's a 4 yr CTT Correct?  CT is just such a great rating.  All of them CTM, CTN, CTT, CTR, CTI.....
  • Craig

LadyH - They try to do all of the graduations at the Chapel.  This allow the sailors the time to pray to God that they actually made it through the training.
  • Craig

CTmomof3 - To me, it sounds like you have old news. Okinawa is no longer a weight-restricted area.  However, maybe the tsunami made them put it back into place.  You really need to check on that.

See the bottom of page 3 here.

    Here is more info:

The weight I wouldn't worry too much about. You probably never seperated his professional items from his actual HHG.  All professional items don't get counted towards the weight limit.  The above link will show you all the professional items you can deduct.  It's quite a bit.

The express shipment shouldn't count against him, An unaccompanied baggage shipment is authorized not to exceed 600 pounds for activeduty member and 200 pounds each family member. Weight is not counted against the administrative weight restriction.

    http://www.japanbases.com/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/ppso.pdf

    3. Navy personnel:

    a. Okinawa, JA: 25 percent of full JFTR weight allowance or 2,500 pounds, whichever is greater. NOTE: A weight restriction will not apply unless it appears in the member's orders. Refer to NAVSUP Pub 490 fordetailed guidance.

Okinawa) - 75 percent of full JFTR/JTR weight allowance for inbound shipments.(1) A weight restriction will not apply unless it appears in the members rotation from Japan.(2) Members will be entitled to full weight allowance upon rotation from Japan.

Lastly, if he is over the weight limit, he can request a waiver.  I had to do that when I transferred from Georgia from Scotland.  It's almost always rubber stamped.  The bottom line is to declare the professional items at the end, and you should be under the limit (if they still have a weight restriction in place).

  • salpetty

Yes 4 year.  And I love this group because you (Craig) are such a wealth of knowledge.  And I thought I knew it all!  Ha!  I'm already giving my kid information overload!  But I'm glad you know all the CTT stuff...because I sure as hell don't.
  • Craig

salpetty - Beleive me, I have a "I hate Craig" fan club.  Just within the last two days, I've had two things happen.

    1. Being called an @sshole.  But it's a joint title that I get to share with Lady Hamilton (who's part of our group here), who is a b*tch.  LadyH and I need to have a run off to see who is the winner....

    Craig being called an @sshole

    2.  Being labeled with the title of "lack of taste, disrespect and common decency"

    Craig Lack of taste

Not to mention that I'm banned from the Pensacola group because I called them out for posting wrong information.  But yet again, I took down one of our own members here... she was banned with me.  I'm not going to mention her name...Oh heck, yea I will...clockard....  Just saying....

See, I'm actually bad luck to you guys... but remember, I'm a lover and not a fighter....-ha

  • sunshine73

Holy Crap!!! I for one am glad that you are here. If people don't want an honest answer then they shouldn't ask.  I know we need support here but I would rather not just have someone only tell me what I want to hear. Besides, all men are a$$holes, it just shows up at random times. They can't help it. And yes, I  too have been called a B many times. I am a high school science teacher after all.
  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

Hey...I was banned too when I joined this group. I remember thinking how did they know but I also questioned misinformation and that must have been the final straw.
  • Craig

Man, I wonder who else was banned.  That is too funny!

So just to clarify, you joined this group (ie the Cryptology) and you questioned a post over there and they banned you?

This could actually work really well for us.  Much like bikers wearing leather jackers and chaff's, being CT people, we should show our colors too!  I think since our sailors are computer nerd people we should show our support.  The guys need to wear leisure suits and the gals turtle neck sweaters and patten leather shoes.  Man we would be awesome!  We would be showing our true colors!

Ok, lets all pick what clothing we will wear from this 1977 JC Penny's catalog...

    JC_Penney_1977.pdf

Make sure you enlarge it so you can admire the views....
  • salpetty

Well you guys have confirmed for me what I knew would be true....you are awsome and you have a sense of humor!!!  I love it and I'm honored to be a part of a group of A-holes and Biatches!!!!
  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

Lol...I can't remember what came 1st...the chicken or the egg. I believe I questioned a response about ALL sailors at Pensacola are aviation and I responded something about what about my CTT who had been at NAS for months. Got a pretty curt reply then found this group and joined. Tried to get on the other group a few days later and was blocked...oh well...their loss not mine. I do appreciate all of you here and the info and support!
  • Angie (Dan's Mom)

So proud of my friends the asshole and the bitches!!  You rock!
  • cinder

The other group is boring. They only talk about fluff. If you want to laugh and really learn anything this is the best group.
  • cinder

Oh yeah, proud parent of a nerd!
  • navymom3

I love this group as I get all kinds of info. All of you have been the best.

My son got his written orders finally today. Now he is finding out what he has to do come home for a bit before c school starts.
