We ride motorcycle also. On the Can-am the tail pipe is close to your leg. A friend kept getting hers burnt and traded it in for a trike instead. I took the class to ride and have a bike. But haven't ventured out of the neighborhood yet. Need to practice some more. But ride on the back with my husband. You just have to be cautious of other drivers. It is fun and exciting. Maybe I will practice tommarrow.

Thanks for putting those casualties in perspective, my leaves for deployment in the spring and the mom nerves already started. But when he was home recently, he just seemed so content and pumped about the training! He is living every little boy's dream from what little he can tell me LOL! He was going to get out after his six years if he had to be behind a desk so I am thankful he found a niche in his field that is the complete opposite. I think that is what is so cool about the CT field is there are so many facets to the rate. Saw the conversations about motorcycles, my husband is a rider and my side family has always called motorcycle riders "organ donors" so I am always begging my kids not to take up dad's passion for the thing!

momoffour- All 3 of my boys rode dirt bike. But not extreme dirt bike riding. My oldest has his license and rides one of our bikes as he sold his. My youngest likes to ride on the back for now. He is only 15. And my CT I don't think is interested now at all. It was hard enough getting him to get a drivers license.

Hi Guys, Yes Craig my husband does have that shirt I got it for him at Las Vegas Bikefest. My husband has a Yamaha cruiser and my son has a Harley, which he just got. We made the mistake and rented Harleys when we visited him this summer and he could not get it out of his mind. Now we have to sell his KZ 1000 and acutal old police cruiser just like on CHIPS. Anyone interested in it?

Cinder- We also have a Yamaha's his is a Roadstar and mine is 1100 Vstar. The 3rd one is a vmax. He traded a car I bought when we moved here to Florida for it. So technically it's mine also. LOL We also rented a Harley when we went to Hawaii last year and now he wants one also. But even if we sold all 3 of ours it wouldn't be enough.

My husband has the 750 Vstar but wishes he had gotten the 1100. Yeah I know what you mean about the costs crazy right.

Cinder- To bad you guys are on the other side of the country. I would say we could take a ride. If you are ever in the Jacksonville area we could ride.

We got a good deal on my 1100 vstar. Just before we moved from Hawaii the husband found it for 400 bucks it had no key or title. It was the guys uncle who moved back to Tonga and wanted it sold as it had been sitting in his backyard for quite a while. Got a new frame so we could get a title and my husband did a complete switch over and a few more new parts. And it runs like a dream. Probably got about 1000 into it is all. I am lucky my husband can do his own work.

I am so excited my son just graduated from CTT A school and was 4th in his class overall and 2nd in Navy enlisted. Now the wait for c school.

My son just took his first test in his c school today. Only 19 days and he will be home for Thanksgiving and his 21st birthday.

Does anyone know if they SR's who graduated BC last Dec 17 and were going to A School in Pensacola/Corry Station, were granted any leave for Christmas? I'm in NJ and PIR is 12/16.

I've been without power since last Saturday, and appears will be out for several more. Sorry if this has been asked but I dont have time to go back. Where is A school graduation at Corry held? can you just go or do you need to be on a "list?" my husband is going down Wednesday for graduation on Thursday.

Graduations are held in the Chapel. It is very laid back. No lists. Just let them know at the gate that you are there for graduation. The Chapel is just past the gate on the left. I enjoyed A school graduation a lot more than PIR.

CTmomof3- The graduation is held in the chapel at Corry. There is no list. He just tells the gate guard he is there for graduation they will direct him to the Chapel. But it is on the left just after you go in the gate. Have him sit on the far right side as far up from as he can sit and on the aisle. Thats the best spot to take pics from. They will stop and pose so he can take pics.

CRF - A 4 year can go TIOA, and if they extend, they could go TIO. For that job, I'd extend. It would be pretty cool. It's well worth extending....

Celia, yes the 12/17 PIR last year was granted holiday leave (my son's PIR group). As Craig stated (for the 12/29 PIR), if your SR is allowed to take holiday leave following PIR, they will be responsible for their transportation back to A school from where ever they spent their holiday leave. If they are granted holiday leave this year, I will be able to help you all with details, on that group, as I am a member, there as well.

Thanks for the info, I SMILE. My SR's PIR is on 12/16. I guess I'll just wait to see what my son says in his letters. It shouldn't be a problem getting him a flight home after PIR. Getting the flight back to Pensacola might be a little tricky, depending on when it is after the holidays.

Can anyone shed any light on Sugar Creek naval base in West Virginia? My son says that it is a prestigious place to be stationed. He would love the area with all of the outside activities but it is in a very remote area.

boilermom, I was just down that way about 2 weeks ago. It's a beautiful country side. We are were in WV to ride some of the steam trains. If your son likes to ski there are a few pretty nice ski resorts there too. We also visited the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, which isn't too far from NIOC.

NavyMom4J - that is my son's ideal job - he would give anything to have that chance. Don't live in fear! Let them experience it all!!!! My son is deploying right after Christmas on his first little DIRSUP adventure.

I just learned that my SR who has PIR on 12/16 has to report to A School in Pensacola before he can request leave. Does anyone have an opinion on whether he will be granted leave for Christmas?

muziepooh: Thanks for your encouraging words. I think my sailor is still considering it- not sure he wants to change jobs right now . But if he does I will support him in what ever he ends up doing!

I think they have to go through indoc and get all of their watches signed off so they can phase up. He would need to put in a chit right away to be able to leave and I think they need to do that 10 days prior. Maybe he will be able to go home the week after Christmas. Not sure but this is what I think.

My son has finally finished all of his CTT training and is on hold for Orders starting today. He finished his shipboard ops class as Class Leader and as and Honor grad, with a final average of 97.08% Woohoo! He is going to try and put in his chit for Christmas leave tomorrow. He has been told that they probably won't issue Orders until after the new year, so please pray that is true. I really want him to come home for Christmas.
