Welcome to N4M. Your key to adjusting is finding a group (or groups) where you can feel comfortable and get answers to your questions – Click on the underlined links:
1. New Moms Stop Here group. You should think of this group as your orientation station.
2. Depper’s… in but not yet . is a group for those just waiting for bootcamp to start (Delayed Entry Program – a depper)
3. Boot Camp Moms group. Just about to go into Bootcamp? or already in?
4. OCS Graduate Moms or the NROTC Moms. For those going to be an officer or going to NROTC?
Check your page (click on MY PAGE) & status box (INBOX, FRIENDS, SETTINGS) often. If you don't you'll never find out what messages your new N4M friends have left
Best of luck, BunkerBee and AbbyblueOK (from the New Moms Stop Here Group)
Hang in there....I posted on boot camp to you, but sometimes they get lost in the shuffle as that is a very busy site! You are totally normal, let the tears come...even if your civilian friends don't understand. Because this is not like them going off to college....I had one who did that...this is very different and highly emotional. But the good news is...it DOES get better! And probably in the next 2-3 weeks. That first phone call or letter will do the trick and you will smile again! Just know that the Navy is taking very good care of her. That may ease your mind a bit. Yes, there is yelling and screaming going on...we don't want to think about that! :-) But she is fed, getting sleep, exercised well, and watched over with excellent medical/dental personnel. You will learn to pray ALOT during this time...and if we can pray specifically for you ever, please go on Christian Chat and let us know. Everyone is in this together....the tears will stop, I promise! Hang in there! -Dianne
My son left on June 22.Once you get your info letter you will know alot more.It has their PIR date and you can make plans for hotels and transportation. This is a tough time.I try to keep myself very busy.My husband has only been in 8 years. So not so long ago I went through the same thing with him.Now our 1st born is in boocamp and our other child enlists this week and will leave in a year after she graduates high school. But the Navy has so many opportunites. We just moved back from living in Hawaii. We have gotten to see so many things and different cultures.Plus you have the perks of visiting your child anywhere around the world for the most part.Best wishes.
Hi! Click on the hyperlink in JessicabSailor's message to you below. She thinks your PIR group may be 8/20. I'm not 100 percent positive it is, but maybe. So...click on it and join it. You will get alot of info from the moms on there. If by some chance your daughter is in the 8/27 group instead, you can join that. I doubt the recruiter will know yet what her PIR date is. But you will get the form letter probably this next week and it will have her PIR date in there. I would go ahead and join the 8/20 group just in case. Stay on boot camp too because there are lots of ladies on there to help you! Just for your info, your daughter would still be in processing days. That means...paperwork, medical, dental checkups, etc. She most likely will start actual boot camp this coming week sometime. Maybe even Monday. Have you received her box? The form letter will have her address in it too. Write your letters to her now (lots of them...they LOVE mail) and put the address on them when the form letter comes. Mail them all at once. The recruits can't get mail for 2 weeks anyway. So when they can receive it, she will love getting all of your letters at once! Hang in there...you are in the hard time. It gets better!
