Chelsey, hang in there. I was in your shoes, 20 years ago. I joined this site about a month ago. Our son was in the DEP program & left on 8-2. This site helped to keep my sanity. I'll friend you; feel free vent, ask questions, or whatever. This is site & the people on the site are the best. Are you planning on attending graduation?
  • SimplyJRB-ADs Mom

Yes, I missed a day of college for my now husbands graduation too. I'm looking forward to meeting you. To my knowledge there wasn't a meet & greet before that graduation. If there had been his parents would not have gone anyway, they just didn't do things like that. So I'm pretty excited to attend this meet & greet. Not to mention meeting all the Moms that I have already met on here! Otherwise, how are you doing??
  • SimplyJRB-ADs Mom

Yes, it is so nice to have someone that understands how you are feeling! My whole family is military. All the men in my family have served, including my husband. So when my son left, I really didn't expect it to be as HARD as it was. It was way harder than saying good-bye to my husband. This site is about all that kept me together! I can relate to your joy about his parents not going. You want them to go & see it, but inside you are doing cartwheels over the fact that they may decide not to go. I am right there with you! :)

Chelsey, there is a group for our PIR date. You will want to join it. Also reply to the invite for the Meet & Greet, too; that way they will know how many people to expect. It won't hurt if you just say there are 4 people coming; even if you're thinking you may be the only one for your BF. If his parents decide to come at the last minute, then you'll be safe.

There is so much on this site, I know there are times I miss a lot of stuff. Just didn't want you to miss out.

Well, just remember we are all here for you. Many on this site have been in your shoes before. Like you I was in college at the time & working a part time job. Hang in there, throw yourself into your studies (you know thatis what he would want). Staying busy helps. And if you don't know just ask. If you don't want to ask in public on the site, just send me a message. We will find the answer together, promise!

Hey, SMILE!!!! :) I know it isn't easy, BUT when we are in the hotel prepping for the PIR, you will look back & say, WOW, it really doesn't seem that long ago. Felt like it at the time, now it doesn't. I have been counting down the weeks, so going into the PIR group really is helpful!
