PT is fun?! haha, thats good though. I wish I could hear from Alex himself, but for now I guess letters to him will have to do. Time is flying, so it shouldn't be too much longer before we all go out to see graduation :)
I'm kindof clueless in what that all means, haha. I need to learn more navy lingo. All I know is that his A school is in Great Lakes and i have no idea how the weekend after graduation is going to go. I'm hoping he'll write to us and tell me, or someone else may know? :)
Jamie... Thanks for the offer to help. I have a few thoughts rolling around in my head, but unfortunately it's been a really, really bad drama filled day. So if you don't mind my dear, I'll recontact you tomorrow when I can actually string a coherent thought together. Thanks! Janelle
Ok, but don't worry. We love your posts on here...just be careful what you pass on from your recruit on the posts (he must have a not-so-nice RDC). Best to just be kind of vague about everything on the posts and"pm" details privately to people. We would miss you if you got off of here...so please stay! You need us...and we need you!
Hello the is randolphnavy.I am Buffie by the way.The 1 year for A-school in CT is what they usuallly say. What is you boyfriend going to be on a sub?My son is going for FT(firecontrol technician)It depends on how soon they class up.They go through BESS(Basic enlisted submarine school)first. Then they go to their A school. After graduation from BESS if they can get right into their A school it may not take the yar.My husband is a ST (sonar tech) and he got to CT in April and he was done by Nov that same yearBESS and A S.So it just depends.I went to my husbands graduation from BESS.I plan on going to my sons also.
Yes BESS is in Groton CT also.Submarine life has its ups and downs just like everything else.My husband is on a SSBN (boomer boat)they are the bigger submarines.Fast attacks are the smaller ones.FA stop at ports around the world.Boomers usually don't port.Boomers have set sechdules for the most part. They work good for the family life.We were married 10 years before he joined so I like having him around. We have email for communication and letters sometimes. There are no phones under the ocean. On boomers they stay under water alot but there are times they have steel beaches where they can come topside and have a swim call. You move up in rank faster on subs.
When they are about done with A school they will pick orders. If they stay at the top of their class they get to pick first.Boomers don't port so you don't have to worry about that if he picks those duty stations.Boomers are in GA, and washington state.Fast attacks are in CT,virgina,San diego,Guam and Hawaii. So where he picks will determine what type of boat he is on.I have encouraged my son to pick what he wants. To not come back to GA because we are here.He has an awesome oppertunity to see the world.I have met several guys who have traveled around the world.Being in the Navy you get to travel and see lots of places and cultures. We just moved back from Hawaii where my hubby was on shore duty.We had thought about going to Japan or Australia.Lots of things to see and the Navy pays for you to live there.
Awee thank you, I will have to find you early in the morning then, I am sorry I am going to miss the M&G. I wish there was a way to be able to be at it, but it is not possible. :-(
I wish I knew when everyone would be heading toward PIR, and would just meet up with some before. We are going to be getting in around 4:30 or 5A.M. Gonna grab some breakfast and change clothes only God knows where, but yepp God willing we will be there... lol
We left sunday so I was unable to give him a cell phone. He is suppose to be getting a cell in CT.I am waiting to see when sub school graduation is.Trying to make plans to go up there for that.
