You need to support your child-be there for them at all times. They will get frustrated somethimes but that is ok. Life is always a learning process.Help them out -make suggestions-ask them questions.Let them ask you questions.Encourage them.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I have downloaded pictures so that everyone could see like a brief visit of my daughter before bc and then some places we visit in chicago- kinda try to make moms alittle more comfortable. When you go up for graduation there is city pass that you can get. the Sailors just need their pass and they get in these places free. There is really alot of places to see while your up there. Just make sure you return your love one afew minutes early before they need to be back on base.Remember spend quality time with your love one.

Hi Irene, Great pictures of your daughter and family, hopefully I can somehow get the hang of pictures and video and music, just being able to do this is a feat, Being a hairdresser and a manager of a sandwich store I don't use any computers, It's quite overwhelming viewing all the families of the Navy, at this point I feel a little bit of apathy, wish I knew more about every aspect of computer smarts, forgive me. I,m really not sure of the program Michael is following, hopefully we,ll find out pretty soon. Keep in touch Thank you for the information for the Graduation ceremony, hopefully he makes it to that point!!!!!! Talk to you later, Chicago Mom, Mary Preiti
Hey Irene - thanks for "connecting" with me - we have lots in common!! Where and when did your daughter attend "A" school? Derek ended up in Virginia Beach - yep, he is a MA still. He finished "A" school in the middle of April of this year. He got his first orders to Guam and we got really excited!! Then, they changed to Portsmouth, Virginia. He went to Mississippi for about a month of more training and then headed to the platforms off Kuwait. That is where he is now - 133 heat index!!
I love to scrapbook and buy things all the time - just don't take time to sit and do it - but look out - when I do - I have everything bought and ready to go!!
Wow--just saw your new sailor pix! Handsome indeed!
And the blue eyes you have.
The shirts look great. Andy said he could not believe our site and how crazy we all are.
Oh great, thanks! When I go and drop off the first pkg I will pick up more of the boxes at the P.O. I'm already going to stuff the box full and wish I had the larger one but they were all out the other day.
I hope all my Navy buddies have a great New Year and I hope and pray that 2009 will be such a great year for them and their families.May God bless the path ways of our Sailors and give a safty net in their lives.
I just know that question was going to come up soon Irene!!! Personally I'm fine if folks want to bring their families to the luncheon. My husband was at our PIR dinner and had a great time and he is former Navy but I think I'm going to leave that option up to each member - if you would like your family to come along bring them!! We got the date, time...just need the place!
Hi Irene - bringing my hubby on Saturday to the lunch, Neese will also be bringing hers. Do you know about your boys yet? Working on head count for restaurant.
Loved meeting you and your hubby today Irene. Clearly I have lots to learn from you and how to use my camera!!! RIght now my battery is "exhausted" so I cannot load my photos but hope to in the morning.
Hey lady - how are you? Just wanted to stop by and say what a wonderful job you did with the photos from the luncheon. I've been off line and have not had much time to comment.
Are you giving any thought to the Savannah gathering? I am thinking about making the drive but will probably go on Friday so I can spend the night with my daughter.
Lookie Irene - we need to go to Chattanooga in June!
Chattanooga Navy Week 2009 is packed with events demonstrating the mission of the Navy and our proud heritage. These events could include and Navy Band performances, Blue Angels F/A-18 Flight Simulator, and Accelerate Your Life Experience (AYLE) Simulator all intent to give the public a personal look at the men and women of the Navy serving throughout the world in different roles.
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Rick West will serve as our spokesperson and there will also be special guest visits from Navy Band and other outstanding local Sailors.
Hey, is your son a MA? Mine is!! He is stationed in Virginia. He is doing some special training right now. He is part of a Mobile Expeditionary Unit (I think). Where is your Sailor son?
Hey girl, Nick is just really busy since checking in. Sounds like his ship is in the yards for some maintenance so I don't think he's going to experience sea life for a number of months in the meantime he is working on his quals which will keep him busy for a few months and then he can move to the barracks on base. He's been to the beach a few times and one of his ship mates just bought a ...boat! Doesn't sound like a bad place to be stationed...right? But he knows he will be bored silly there for three years --- I'm hoping they get deployed in a few months...he wants to sail and see the world!
Does Heather know any thing about her choices? They have been really limited with orders but that should get better in October when the new fiscal year changes.
Hey girlfriend, how r you and Mike doing? All is good at our house, we hear from Nick a couple of times a week at least. He recently moved into the barracks on base. Ashleigh's fiance' left for Iraq yesterday -------- ick. Heather all settled back at her home away from home?! Thought we might do a gathering this month but really haven't been in the mood to plan one...maybe November?????
Oh that's great. We are so lucky to live in a time with modern communication! :) I don't know how I would get through this with just the snail mail of the past!
Just a quick note before getting ready for work. I do have more questions, but not the time at the moment to ask. And when I do write back I will explain about Puffy. JM
Irene you have a very cool profile page. Good luck on your new camera. I'm a professional photogrpher and the Rebel takes great pics. God bless your sailor janie Florida
thanks for the welcome Irene! i got my first phone call from joey yesterday! it was amazing! It was the first time we had any contact since he left Feb 24.Finally got a letter today! things can only get better from here. I actually found out about navy for moms from him! he said a buddy's girlfriend was on here and that its a great place to talk to people that can relate! I actually live right by to MillCreek! i went to Flowery Branch High School in hall county. i thinks its great that you all have a support group here in Buford! I'll definitely check it out!
hey Irene! I'm doing alright. I haven't been on her much, just been so busy with work/school. Its good though, i need to stay busy. Schools going. to say the least. Just ready to be done! Joey and I are planning on getting married within a year so the plan is to hurry and finish my core up at GSC then hopefully transfer to a school wherever he gets stationed! just ready to get the ball rolling if you know what a mean! i definitely want to check out your meet/greet just don't have the time or flexibility right now! Hope your doing well!
Thank you for accepting me as your friend. Nice photo album! I finally put a few pictures on mine today. So uncomfortable that my son is deploying but know that is the whole purpose of joining and all the training. I know he will do well as he is a pretty smart guy. I am so proud of him. Bet you are proud of yours too. So nice you could go to Neal's funeral and that you are there to support others like the Swinks. God bless you my friend.
