    HaleesMom,
I see you joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!! We are a friendly, caring group of moms always willing to listen and support. Please feel free to jump in and join our chats!! We like to discuss everything from our sailors to our jobs, weather, whatever. It's also a great place if you want to yell, scream, vent, cry - - there is no judgment involved!!! Brag about your sailor but also tell us when you are hurting because you miss her so!!! Looking forward to getting to know you and your sailor!! I see you live nearby one of my favorite spots to visit in PA. Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!

HaleesMom, Welcome aboard N4M. I hope you feel as much at home here as I do. I have learned a lot from these ladies in the short time I have been on here. Blessings,
  • Anna

    HaleesMom,
Your welcome!! Actually I was talking about Lancaster!! You are close to that aren't you? My oldest son and dil lived in Harrisburg for a couple years but we used to visit PA quite a bit when we lived in MD. Hubby is originally from Beaver Falls!!
Wow a firefighter!! How neat that is!! What rate is she going for in the Navy??
  • Anna

Good for her!!! Sounds like she has a good choice no matter which way she goes. I'm surprised - she didn't want to stick with firefighting in the Navy? So you are closer to MY neck of the woods - I'm from NE Ohio. Born in Chardon but moved away right after high school. Didn't go back till 30+ years later and lived in Mentor. Daughter lives in Stow going to school at Akron. I did a map seach of Wheatland and the one over on the eastern side of PA came up!!!!!
  • Anna

    HaleesMom,
We were visiting Beaver Falls when those tornados hit!!! Hubby's brother was getting married the next day. I remember standing at the front door watching a tornado travel down the road about 3 blocks away. Scariest time ever. Almost as much as being in two earthquakes, one wildfire, and one plane crash in San Diego!!! I've been in many places but have not checked Alaska off my list yet. (I did Hawaii tho') Hubby and I hope to visit there before we get too old!!!!!
  • Anna

    HaleesMom,
Wow we do have alot of similarities in common!!!! June 09 hubby, one of our daughters and I traveled to Colorado for middle son's wedding ceremony. This past June I got to go to Nevada after the birth of our first granddaughter. They're in Fernley halfway between Reno and Fallon. Went to Reno a few times but that is where the doctors are!!! I've been to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and Painted Desert but not the northern part of the west. We also want to go to Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, and Arches in Utah!!!! Some day . . . . . .
Watching Penn State football and they are not doing well!!!!!
  • Anna

    HaleesMom,
Our similarities are just too funny - - I had a son and a daughter do marching band in high school. Spent many a friday night at football games as I was a uniform volunteer for all 8 years of band!!!!
I'm sorry you and your family were so touched by the events of 9/11. That was such a horrifying day!!! Can you imagine what it would have felt like to be living during Pearl Harbor? With the exception of having such immediate total news coverage now compared to back then it must have been just as horrific and something that many felt they would ever get over!!!! We should never forget!!!
  • Anna

    P.S. - - Love your pictures!!!!
  • Anna

    Tracy,
So if you're cooking for that many you won't notice one or two more - - - what time is dinner???? jk I'd love to meet up with you if you are over in this area, unfortunately I'm not living there right now. The officer sailor daughter lives in an apartment there in Stow while she goes to school at Akron. We keep that address as our permanent address as hubby and I move from place to place for his job. Right now we are in Marquette, MI. Now you can certainly come up here to visit and I'd love to meet up with you - - I'll even treat you to lunch!!! Wait a minute - - - with all our similarities - - you don't have famiy up here do you??!!!! ha ha ha ha
  • Anna

    Tracy,
You got it!!! Sounds like a plan!!
btw - - what are "Beanies"????
  • diannep

Hi! I posted on the board, but wanted to ask you personally...do you mind if I write a letter of encouragement to your daughter as she recuperates? I posted this on the board as I think if it is okay with you, there will be others on there who would like to write also. If so, please "friend me" and send me her address. Poor thing...but she is not alone. So many injuries happen in bc. But I want her to know that the N4M ladies are praying for her!
  • diannep

You bet! I will look forward to writing her.
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I am glad she will stick it out. She won't have far to go once she gets over the broken leg. I know those can be hard. Good luck to you both and tell her we are all pulling for her.
  • Lynne

Trying to reach you...would love to visit your daughter while I am in Great Lakes and take her a treat if it is allowed...also I think I am going to start a group for moms like you who have recruits in RCU so you have others to talk to about this process. In addition, we are changing our group to an Alumnae group and remember we are going to be right there with you through this whole process. You will always be one of us in our hearts.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi! So is it your daughter that got hurt? I am so sorry to hear that? What happen? I live around an hour from Great Lakes, going shopping up that way. When you go to her PIR I am sure you will be shopping at Gurnee Mills that is where I am going tomorrow. Can they have vistors?
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Tracy, ok I just found you on the Chicago Mom site, do you have an address for me so I can google it. It is right next to the base?
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Your poor daughter and being so far away from home. Don't worry about her, she is going to be fine. I am hoping to stop tomorrow on my way home from Gunee Mills, I am going with a friend but I don't think that will be a problem. We are a good group of moms and would love to visit your daughter and the other girl. I will give her a hug from you.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Thanks I have the directions also. What was she going to do in the Navy? My son is an IT and will be in the Navy for two years November 18th, he is in Italy now, talk about being far away. It has been wonderful for him and I know he just loves it. Can't wait to meet your daughter.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi, yes your daughter told me all about the job she will be doing and where she wants to go. It was so much fun being with the girls yesterday, I enjoyed every moment. Halee told me that you were sick, that is a long train ride and breathing all that bad air. Halee told me she wanted to go home for Christmas, I do not know if the Navy will let her. I told her she can come with me. I have a daughter 21 and maybe my son will be coming home from Italy for Christmas, I have my fingers crossed. I don't know if the Navy will allow that either and I know you and Halee don't know me but I am not a crazy person. LOL I got in trouble for taking pictures, the nurse was not very nice, but don't worry I got some. LOL If she cannot go any where maybe my daughter and myself could take her to Gunee Mills for the day. I will no be home for Thanksgiving going to FL to see my parents or I would try to get both girls to come to my house.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Her new roommate is old and snores. LOL It is a pretty good size room as you know but boy it was sooo hot in there.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi, how are your feeling today? Better I hope. I posted two picture of Halee on the Chicago site I hope that was ok!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

I hope you are feeling better, it is no fun to be sick. I wanted the girls to see your daughter how cute she is. I think more moms are going Sunday and then maybe the following SUnday so that will give her a few visits. Get better!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi! How are you? Wondering how your daughter is doing? Love to hear what is going on with her. Hope everything is fine with you, take care!
