Hi Theresa, wanted to welcome you to the AECF group. Are you holding up okay with your son in boot camp? It gets easier once his letters start arriving. Our son has been in almost three years now and time actually goes by fast once they are done with boot camp!
So is your son going into the AECF program? I see that you joined a few groups like Seabees, Subs, etc. Sometimes it is confusing, AECF is Advanced Electronics Computer Field and is for ET (Electronic Techs) and FCs (Firecontrol) that will be working on surface ships. Subs have ETs and FTs but their group is SECF and instead of school in GL, they go to school in Groton, CT. Let me know if you have questions, I'm an old Navy wife and now a Navy mom so I've been around the Navy for lots of years now!
That is the SECF group but if you go to the search window at the top of the page and enter SECF, you will find that group as well as groups for Groton, CT and various sub groups. Lots of information awaits you!
I think this MIGHT be your lucky week. Keep an eye on your mail the next few days, generally that first letter will arrive in the 3rd week. Usually on Wednesdays or Thursdays depending on where you live from GL. Also mail might be a tad bogged down because of the holidays but you should be seeing that first letter any day now. You will treasure it and read it over and over and over again and then next week a new letter will arrive and things will get a little easier for you. I hesitate to say when you will get that phone call, lots of parents receive them in the 3rd week but many don't for awhile. It varies from each division. Hang in there, he is doing good and will be okay! If you have any questions let me know and I will try to help you. Best wishes!
