You'll love this site. Some really great ladies here with lots of information and shoulders to lean on. Once your son leaves for bootcamp and you get his PIR (graduation) date, search for his PIR date and join that group. You will all be in the same boat and will be able to share news and sympathize. The first few weeks are tough because there is NO communication. Assure your son now that you will be with him in spirit. Write often - every day if possible. Be positive and remind your son how much you love him and how proud of him you are. My daughter said she lived for letters and making me proud was her motivation. Before you know it, you'll be exchanging letters, getting an occasional phone call and then you'll be in GL seeing your son in his dress uniform and getting those long awaited hugs.

Are you getting ready for Jan 19? How is he doing?

Sorry your Ducks lost last night!!!! I was cheering them on as one of my co-workers is also from OR. Your son reminds me of mine...he also has red hair but not as light as your son's. Mine is a bit darker. :)

The last few days are always difficult. You don't know how to behave. My son has been in the Navy for 4 years (time goes by fast). When my son started Officer Candidate School in '07 N4M didn't exist. We didn't know we were supposed to be concern. We took him to the airport. His dad shook his hand. I gave him a quick hug. We got the quickie phone call then nothing for several weeks. We had no idea he was going through anything difficult. I didn't join N4M until spring of 2009.

My daughter is Ship 7 Div 106. I'm so glad I found others in the same Div.  She arrived BC on Jan. 19.  I received her box on the 25th and her form letter the 27th. The best part was seeing her handwriting at the bottom of the last page!  This site has been great for me.
