Our son, David, is Aviation Ordinance on an aircraft carrier. He is the oldest of our three children and is twenty years old. His father and I both work for the local public schools. He was recently married but will not get to spend much time with his new wife since he had three back to back deployments.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've had some computer issues! My hubby called me at 4pm Tuesday & even though I knew the call would be very short & to the point it was much harder to handle than I thought it would be.
How are you doing now that you've got a couple days in?
I know it's very hard to receive "THE BOX" we had to go through it with our first Son, keep yourself busy and time will go by fast. Write to them all the time, that's their life line.
Every day is a little different emotionally. For the most part I'm doing alright, but sometimes something just hits me and I find the tears flowing.
I teach two-year-olds at a daycare, so that keeps me on my toes during the week! We don't have any children, but we have an eight year old dog & a 10 year old cat who are like kids (the dog has even been acting out since Chet left- just like a child would when their daddy leaves). :) The hardest part right now is having no contact with him, we've been married for 13 years and I think the longest we've spent apart has been less than two weeks, at least then we were able to talk on the phone). I just have to keep reminding myself, no news is good news.
Hope today finds you doing a little better, just remember when you're sad that it's only eight weeks. After that at least you'll be able to talk to your sailor more often!
sorry, didn't realize you left me a message on the 22nd. still trying to figure out the site! my son's letter and box came yesterday (1/24). Was surprised to see his PIR date is 3/11. I thought that it would be 3/18 or 3/25. Some of the moms thought that he may be in a "push" division where they complete boot camp sooner. I have joined the PIR 3/11 group as well. Have you received your letter and box?
Got my address yesterday! (finally) I'm doing much better now that I have some link to him again. The last couple days were rough before that came, but I couldn't stop smiling yesterday afternoon! :)
How are you doing? Hope you hear from your son soon & that he's doing better than in his first letter. I'm sure that had to be hard to hear, when you only want good things for him.
