Live in SC. I am mother of one and my son will be leaving for boot camp Monday Feb 14, 2011. I am not use to being away from him so this is going to be a real emotional train ride for me.... any help would be great.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Tears, and more Tears of sadness, joy and pride.
Happiness to get a little tiny note at the bottom of information letter about graduation, cried like a baby when I got the box. Very proud of my son.

So emotions are a very big part of having a child enlist and leaving home. Never knew they could all come in such a manner.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

    Teresa,

Thank you so much for your friend request.  I would be most honored! We'll hold each other up and support each other through these tough times. Lord knows we can all use someone who's in the same boat, right. I can't begin to say how much smaller my world got when I finally got on here and was able to start communicating with people who have kids in the same place as mine...even kids who are in the same ship and division. It's funny, having always had kids on sports teams.....it's like we're all team moms here together. Bless you my new friend.....((((((((((((Teresa)))))))))))))  *a big warm hug from a fellow struggler*

Hi Teresa..did you get your letter yet?
  • kimcon55

Teresa, I know exactly what you mean.  I have felt the same exact way this week.  It has been nearly 2 weeks since they could call, and his last letter I received wasn't really very upbeat.  He just talked about how homesick he was.  I have written him trying to be encouraging, but it has been hard.  Sorry, I know I haven't cheered you up, but I really do feel the same exact way.

Thank you Teresa!  If I understand correctly, he will still have several chances to pass the PRT before graduation, so I have my fingers crossed he will still make the 4/15 PIR!

Teresa, Thank you so much for thinking of him.  I still am hoping to see everyone next Friday!
