We are leaving on Wednesday for a 15 hour drive, not including stops for gas. Hoping to make it to M&G but not really sure if we will make it either. Good luck on your drive!
Hi, wanted to welcome you to the AECF group! Nice to see another FC mom and we are from MI as well (Livonia) but we live in the south now. My hubby was an FC for over 10 years and now our son is our FC and is stationed in Hawaii and loving life!
Expect your son to be in GL for about a year for A school and then he will move to another state for C school. Length and location to be determined at the end of A school so it will be awhile before you need to worry about that but our FCs go to one of three locations for C school; Aegis FC all go to Dahlgren, VA (near DC) we also have C school in SanDiego (Tomahawk and CWIS) and then we have C schools in DamNeck, VA (Virginia Beach) so it will depend on which system he is working with.
Let me know what questions you may have and welcome to the group!
Hi Deb, my name is Renie and I had requested to be a friend but I wanted to leave a little note but it sent out to fast. I have a step son in GL and in the FC program and trying to find some moms in the same field as my sailor. I live out by Sacramento area. My first group has split up as most sailors are doing the field they want . I would love to here back you. Is your sailor still out in GL? I miss the connections with other moms as our PIR group was really fun and I very much enjoyed it. Hope to hear from you Renie
Hi Deb! My husband is FC so your name on here caught my eye! How does your child like being an FC? So far my husband loves it. How long has he or she been in?
Wow! You are definitely immersed right now in the military! My husband also wants to do AEGIS...this week anyway. He classes up Tuesday for A-school. Sounds like you know your stuff then if you have an FC husband and a son! I am sure I will have questions along the way. One thing I have learned though is that the military is all about hurry up and wait so I am not stressing about finding out where we are going. I figure we'll get there when we get there right? As far as moving up to GL that would be a no because I found out during his basic that I am pregnant! Surprise :) We had planned on me staying down south anyway but def. now. I had some complications with the pregnancy in the beginning so we thought it would be best to stay down here, continue to see the doctors I know, and to get help, etc. I am fine now but with that happening it has just been easier to stay. It isn't fun though! We were married for two months before he went in but we have been together for five and a half years so although we didn't have a lot of time together being married we have been together since college. Now that I have left you a novel I am going to run but feel free to comment back if you like! Good luck with your children being in :) You are one strong mom!!
