Hi Michele, Guess we are in this boat (ha!!ha!!) together. I love this site, it helps to know there are other people going through the same things. Great support, am going to need it. We can all help each other.
Thanks for asking, Michele. It's a hard but proud day. We took him to the recruiter's office today and watched him leave for MEPS. We will go to his swearing in and official ship out tomorrow. I can't say I like it one bit, but I am happy for him. How are you doing?
How are you doing, Michele? We watched Joey being sworn in today, and then he was gone. There aren't enough Kleenex. We got to spend a little time with him while he waited to go. He is ready and excited. How did your day go? Is Zac on his way yet?
Michele,
I got his box yesterday and the form letter later in the day from the usps. Had a few lines from him...he is OK, it's going to be a long 8 weeks, can't wait to see us again and he loves his mom! He sounded OK so that is good. Just would like to hear his voice. I know he'll be fine.
Joey got to call me today to ask security questions. It was nice to hear his voice. I asked him how things were going and he said, "Well... you know... it's boot camp." He sounded tired, but trying to keep a good attitude. No letter or box yet.
He couldn't say much. I'm sure someone was standing over him. He just asked the questions and said he missed us and hung up. I did receive the letter today, with his address. PIR date 9/16. Is that Zac's date too?
Congrats on getting your letter. Since I'm on the West coast, I'm thinking I'll get mine tomorrow. Is your SR ship 11, division 31? That's my son's (based on info from the Recruiter).
My son's name is Evan. What's your SR's name? I've already written my son many letters and told him about the moms I'm meeting here on N4M...especially the ones in his division. I'd love to write him about one more that I have met!
I was lucky (I think) in that my son's recruiter was able to give me his address but, since then, I've found out that the recruiters info may not be correct. Oh well, I've been sending him daily letters and hope they will catch up with him without too much delay if the address is wrong. It's been really helpful to write those letters (I call him my lunch time habit because I write everyday at lunch!) I'll have to write Evan and see if he can knows Zac now!
Evan will be staying in Great Lakes for A school. He wanted to be an air traffic controller too but his vision prevented it. Poor kid, got his mom's eyes! He's going to be a gunners mate which he is really jazzed about.
hi michelle, im Alysas mom and she is in avionics, not her 1st choice but it was available, its nice to hear from other moms from her ship, im still waiting for a letter from her, September 23rd can not come fast enough for me.
my son is in A school now and he is in gulf port MS. I dont know if there is a diff between A schools so you might tell him to ask. I know my son said at phase 2 they can go away for the weekend and phase 3 they can have civi clothes and his car. Once again have him ask a commanding officer so he isnt mislead on this.
thats the only letter that we have also, but its in California with her dad, it has to be hard on her with us living in seperate states. her birthday is this mont so i sent a card along with all my other letters. i sure do miss her voice i have my phone on me at all times. well i hope you hear from your sailor soon also.
good morning, yes Alysa tried college too but got too expensive for her and she will be turning 19 this month, my baby. my oldest lives in Washington state with his family, i went there the day after Alysa swore in, i sure do miss them so much.
