  • Soon2bNavyWife

How did his mom hear from him this early?
  • Soon2bNavyWife

    Oh okay gotcha lol :)
  • Lisa

Hey your boyfriend and my fiance are in the same ship and div!! :)
  • Dallas_ann(ship03/div235)

haha its alright! Did he say everyone is doing well?
  • Lisa

I got my first letters last weds! :) It is very tough and this site is very helpful. I didn't get a call yesterday like he told me, he said "he might get to make a phone call, but he said it could change" so that stuck, I had my phone glued to me all day waiting for his call!! :(

  • Lisa

Same here, it sucks tho because I work and we can't have our phones on us at work, and I'm going to freak out if 1 day he calls me and I'm at work. I would be sooo upset :(

  • Lisa

I work at a retail store, and I work different shifts each time.  There's a morning shift and goes till 3 and then there's a night shift that starts at 3 :/ so I'm never sure what times I'm working!!! :(
  • Lisa

Yes I got my call and got letters from him too! :) He called at 6pm. He was worried I was going to be at work when he called me, but I thankfully wasn't :)
  • Soon2bNavyWife

I know exactly what you mean, but i did mention to him and i probably shouldn't have and i feel guilty now that I already did :( but I did mention to him that he didn't sound like himself and that if his feeling are changing for him to please talk to me. Stupid me, I knew better than to write that let alone send it, but I sent one after that apologizing because I know better than to doubt him and his love for me. Now that I re-read his previous letter, it doesn't come across the way it did to me when I first got it, I guess it had to do with the mood I was in when I read it the day I got it. So now I feel like a idot and the worst person in the world. I mean I didn't bash him or anything but still he doesn't need me worrying you know?
  • Soon2bNavyWife

I hope you got your call :) Everything is going to work out for the both of us and in a few more weeks we will see our Sailors and all the concerns we had will slip away!
  • Soon2bNavyWife

Yay! I didn't :( what division is ur boyfriend in?
  • Soon2bNavyWife

Mine is 236 so maybe I'll get a call soon :)
  • KC'smom

Aren't you also on the CTI site? My son had a fractured foot and was held up in boot camp for a looong time, but was just assigned this new PIR date. I'm so excited. I would think they would be catching the plane together to Monterey, right? My son is going to Monterey for I think 15 or 18 months. I'm so happy he is finally back on track. He has been there for 3 months already!
  • KC'smom

his div. was able to call last night. I was sooo not expecting it, but happy b/c I didn't know if he was declared FFD or not. This is such good news for us!!!
  • KC'smom

It was after he was injured and he needed to be re-assigned to a new start date for A school, he found out that he was able to still get his same language and that he would spend 18 months at Monterey. Then he said they told him he would be in Georgia for 3 years. He said after A school he would spend a few months learning a dialect but he was unsure if that would be in Georgia or somewhere else. So, I'd say we've known for 6 weeks.   Have you heard anything about what time they need to be at the airport? Or even which airport they will leave out of??  Oh, and if you know the language ge will be taking, you can pretty much assume where he will go from what these ladies have been telling me.
  • KC'smom

I got a call a week ago and nothing since except a letter telling me that now his other foot hurts! So stressful. Would he just get out and then break every bone in his body if he wants? omg!!  Seriously? He said he will run on a "nub of flesh" (foot tore to the bone) if he has to, but he will NOT go back to RCU. He needs to get it done, then for God's sake! I think he called it the 'classifier' that he met with to get his language. He had a choice of Arabic, chinese and i forget what else. I think he said his actual school starts in September. I'm gonna have to start saving my money so I can go visit him in Monterey. We're a family of 4, so it's sooo expensive to visit him. I'll bet you are seriously hoping he goes to Georgia.
  • KC'smom

maybe your bf is being really good - maybe he was told not to discuss his language with anybody??? My dad was apparently a cryptologist  in the Navy and he has still never told me that to this day. Or what language he learned!!  I'm 40 now!!  hahahaha. I found out that he was a CT by accident through someone who recognized his name.
  • KC'smom

I hear ya! I mean, it seems that the moms know their son's / daughter's language??? He must be making sure he is super careful. My boy told me he can tell me some stuff but not all. But, he did tell me the language.
  • KC'smom

My son has a roomate and it's not your boyfriend :(. he said his housing is temporary and probably changes in about a week. It was so nice to get an email from him with his address already and I've been texting him all day. (not that he responds, hahaha). How was it sharing him with 15 other people???
  • KC'smom

I've read the articles on DLI but I just got done watching a youtube video about it (well, okay 2 vidoes). It was really cool. Are you allowed to say which language your bf is taking? If not, all I can say is ..... I have no idea how anyone can learn my son's language!! OMG! Poor guy. I hope he makes it. I actually heard that there is a 50% fail rate. My son is super smart so I guess he'll be okay, but my dad says it all depends on how people's brain works. He might be good at certain languages but not HIS assigned language. If you haven't done so already, definitely youtube it. There were a couple to watch!!
  • KC'smom

How sweet to let mom hug him first!!  I was so lucky I had him almost all to myself and I held onto him like a damn girlfriend and wouldn't let go of him. Even in the mall, I wrapped my arm around his like his sweetheart. I asked him if he wanted me to stop and he said, 'no, its cool'. hahaha.  PIR was so amazing, i hyperventilated when the did the Sailor's Creed. Just couldn't believe how precise everyone was. It was crazy!!  I will be purchasing the video even though my son told me not to!!
  • Forrest(3/235)

KCs mom you are so funny! haha

Florida girl, it was verrrrry nice meeting you too!! We did not get to go to the park, but we did do shopping, movies, and the beach so that was fun. We had a good time. I really hope we all can stay in touch!! How long is your man's a school?

  • Lisa

It was really nice meeting you as well :) I had a good weekend thanks, how was yours? Yeah, I hope we can stay in touch too!!
  • Forrest(3/235)

Yeah, I agree. I am so happy to have the text messages and phone calls. It makes it soooooo much better. I miss him like crazy already, I def didn't want to say goodbye... I'm glad yous managed some alone time with that many people! I assure you alone time was hard to get and it was only his mother and me. ha I could only imagine 20 people!!
  • mermur

    Hi florida_girl ;

Your sailor is probably just now getting accustomed to A-school life after the shock of his time in GL. Depending on when he classes up he may have plenty of extra time -- and yes, he should have some time that weekend as Monday Labor is a holiday. We are flying directly to Monterey which saves time from flying into to San Fran or San Jose then driving over. Looks like alot of nice places to stay in Monterey - I found a cottage to stay at that is only a few blocks from the presidio. Good luck to you both!

  • KC'smom

Yes, I ask him to call me and he does. Otherwise, he doesn't like to call us too much. He called Friday to tell me he had the whole w/e off starting at 1:30 pm. then i asked him to call us Sat. night b/c the whole family was together. But I text him constantly!! (poor guy).....(I mean, who wants their mom texting them all the time). How about you? Get much contact with the bf??  What was he up to all weekend???
  • KC'smom

You should recommend your bf to take a college course while waiting for school to start..... I just found out that KC gets to walk off the base 3 days a week to go to college (it's a mile walk). He stops along the way at different restaurants and has a nice meal while he's out. Yesterday he stopped at a Mediteranean Cuisine place. How sweet is that???? hahaaahahaha. considering they haven't phased up yet to leave the base, it's a nice way to get off the base at least for a bit.
  • KC'smom

don't know if he phased up, but my younger son was just texting him and he wrote back that he was moving into a new room right now. I wonder if that means he passed the 1st phase?  I just shipped him som civilian clothes and a few other things that I wanted to give him at PIR but either wasn't allowed to bring it on the plane or wouldn't fit in his back pack. It cost sooooo much to send. You know what? I'll bet he did "phase up" b/c he said as long as he doesn't get in any kind of trouble he will be allowed to wear civilian clothes this weekend... and now he is moving into a new room...sounds like a phase 2 to me!
  • KC'smom

Oh, and by the way..... as far as taking the college class - might not be for everyone. KC has a very special talent... school is like second nature for him. It's what he does best. For him, taking a class is like riding a bike. I swear, the boy could be a proffesional student! I'm sure a lot of people would like to enjoy the break, trust me. He took college classes while in H.S. and then in college he already had enough credits to be a Junior by the end of his freshman year!!
  • KC'smom

Oh? I'm sorry, but I'm sure by Labor Day he will be in phase 2. I don't know what determines how they move to the next phase. I asked but didn't understand his answer. Something about taking tests or passing tests or doing stuff. I wasn't real clear on it. Maybe he will phase up on Monday.  In fact, I'm sure he will!!!!  (thinking positive so you can buy your airline tickets!!)
  • KC'smom

Oh my God!  when you go out there to see your bf.....find my KC and give him a big hug for me!!  He is somewhere on the 2nd floor - hunt him down if you have to!!  I'm JEALOUS!!
  • KC'smom

That's really bizarre. According to KC he should be in phase 3 by Labor day w/e. And believe me, he has not had perfect inspections, so I know that doesn't hold him back. He had a few 'marks off' on the last 2 inspections. you must be really frustrated. I wonder what is going on? Are you still planning on going Labor Day?

  • KC'smom

That's great news!!  I was just thinking about you wondering where you've been! Anything going on with him exciting? KC just started his actual school yesterday. Haven't talked to him so I don't know how it went.  And his roomate got moved so at the moment he has the room to himself which he is VERY happy about, but that could change by this afternoon! haha. So jealous that you get to go out there. I can't wait to hear details of what it's like. Keep me posted. And if you happen to run in to a tall, handome sailor named KC give him a hug from his momma!!!
