hi yes he left on the 22nd,he signed up while he was at school last year and then he called me and said guess what mom..i joined the navy. I was shocked at first i didnt believe him but he really did it,he was 18 so there was nothing i could do,i was hopeing he would change his mind but i knew he was serioius abouut it because he needed to lose 28lbs to be accepted and he did it so that made me know he was very seroius aabout wanting to join.Boy the time flew from the til the 22nd. Did your son leave on the 22nd also? How are you handling it? I hate it,i recieved his box yesterday,i cried of course i hate this, its so hard but everyone says it gets better, but how,how does it get better when you know for the next 4yrs he wont be home except very few times.

Keep you chin up Sharlene this is a good thing that he is doing . He is going to have a great life in the Navy. We live in a small town and I think the worst thing that could have happened would have been my daughter being stuck in this small town with no job prospects. I'm sure your son is intelligent as is my daughter to think they would be wasted working at a no where job. My sister discouraged it and told me I'm going to miss her and gave me a lot of what if scenarios but it seemed selfish of me to keep her here because I  will miss her. I told my sister bad things can happen to her anywhere. I feel this is a safe place for them and they are going to get an education and learn a skill. We will see them in a few more weeks and be so proud of our Sailors. I don't go a day without telling someone my daughter is in Boot Camp right now and how proud I am of her.Don't cry be happy !!!! I'm looking forward to visiting her every where she goes and hearing the story's.
