Hey Bobbi!!!! Thanks again for the info!! I am in Nc and have lived in Guilford or Randolph county my whole life....im about as close as u can get to the middle of the state...im an hr from Virginia and SC and about 3 and a half from mtns and the beach!! My son will be a machinist mate when he enters. What will yours be and where will he go to A school? Billy will stay at Great Lakes for 9 more weeks which Im hoping that means I will get to spend the weekend of his PIR with him.
I know what you mean!!!!!! If you need a laugh go to the forums tab and see if u can fund top ten letters from boot camp.. I went thru every post on that one and my family thought I had lost it....I would go from crying to laughing (and im a snorter...not the cute lil snort bot the type when my kids were lil they thought I sounded more like a pig then their see n say) I have my days where im so proud and excited for him and then I have days where I completely lose it. Billy will be graduating high school 6/11 and then goes tot bc 5 days before my bday (whichis the only one he will miss in bc) so I know all about those emotional breakdowns!!! So we can just be here for each other!!
From what I have gathered as long as they do not ship out immediately to a school they can go off base but will have to wear their uniform everywhere ..I believe they will have a curfew though and will have to sleep on base.
Hey Bobbi! Im doing ok I reckon. I have my good days and bad days. My son will graduate from high school a week from this sat and I can't believe how fast time is going!!! How r u doing?
Hi bobbijk1971. I saw on the Boot Camp Moms group that you asked me if I had joined the PIR 8/05 group yet. Just wanted to let you know that I have...thanks for asking. I am thrilled that you received your box today...glad that your FedEx guy won't be filing charges. :o) It's always fun to read your comments. Thanks!
Hi: I have to join the PIR 8/5 group. I am working and have been away a couple of days but back in time to get my first letter. Boy, waiting two weeks was agonizing. glad to hear my guy is doing well. I need to get a confimation from him if he is grad n go because it changes everything schedule wise. He said he was going to be grad and go when he left but i want to make sure. Maybe his recruter can confirm it.
Hi Bobbie: sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes, Jack now says his ship is 03 but still 240. he said that he is buds with a guy from Alaska, another from Florida and another from Tenn. he said they help each other out and study together. Did you get a call last night? it was a big releif to talk to him and hear he was doing just fine. says a lot of guys are overweight and on diets. he thinks he is getting fat. ha ha.
oh and he also said that they come out with a big stack of letters and give out ten of them. he hasnt gotten any yet and i told him about 50 people mailed him letters. I probably sent 10 myself.
Bobbie - I just saw your post on Boot Camp Mom's group. You may send him envelopes with stamps on them if you wish. He can fill out the address info as needed. Also, if you don't already know this, you can send him a book of 20 stamps in a letter. Anything flat can go in a letter, including Band-Aids! He may need them for all the running and marching they'll be doing! I sent Band-Aids in a regular letter - I sent bigger sizes too. Mainly the 1x3 inch is good, but a few bigger ones may be good. If he doesn't use them, he might give them to another recruit is in need!
My son PIR'd 5/13 from BC and is in Goose Creek, South Carolina. BC seems like ages ago, but I still visit other groups.
I don't like surprises when I travel, so I would make all arrangements (hotel, shuttle, car rental, whatever) ahead of time. I put everything in a folder and have it in my carry on bag with boarding pass and itinerary.
