Make sure that you find the Boot Camp group I mentioned below and eventually her PIR date group!  This will keep you informed and help answer questions.  Since mine was in Boot Camp in 2006, it has been awhile since I dealt with the emotions that you are expereiencing now.  Be aware that they can only write on Sundays...so expect letters maybe Wednesday or Thursday...and this letter writing time will be shorter if your daughter attends the church services.  Most days she will be too busy or even too tired to even think about writing.  Make sure that you send her encouraging, supportive, newsy type letters.  I sent my son his favorite comic strip and news notes that I knew would be entertaining to him.  Phone calls are earned by the unit and not necessarily given, but I kept my phone close at hand and when I did miss his calls, kept the recording on my answering machine so that I could replay his voice when I needed to hear it (and still do this to this day).
