A little about me:
About me………… I am a devoted mom of two, stepmom of one and wife. My family; is the most important thing in the world to me. My career has been in the mortgage lending industry, but now that the children are grown, it’s time for me to take some time for myself. I plan to go back to school, for what I’m not yet sure. Hopefully, I’ll decide what I want to be when I grow up by fall of 2012.

I LOVE to cook, ride motorcycles, read, socialize, traveling and believe it or not I enjoy cleaning. My kids would all quote me in saying, “There’s a place for everything and everything has its place”. LoL!

I’m excited to embark on this naval journey with my stepson; I have been blessed to have a strong, healthy and close relationship with him, that of which most blended families aren’t fortunate to have. I couldn’t love him more if he were my own.

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
That the navy is an extension of your family. I grew up right out side the gates of Great Lakes Naval base, in fact my ex husband was a navy brat that I met during his father’s time at Great Lakes. So the military life is something I’m familiar with, with that being said; I’ve seen first hand how close of a family the navy families are to each other, supportive and dependable.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

You will also want to begin reading the Nuke group page on this website.  A lot of helpful information can be found there.  From one Nuke mom to another...any questions that you have, please ask...I've been there...my son went to the fleet as an MM in the spring of 08.

Do you travel to his NJROTC drill meets?

  • Pat

I believe that the next drill meet is in Washington, Indiana on the 4th of Feb.

Hi, "IndianaBounsMom," and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for five years.

If you're near Indy (or willling to drive), there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon (just outside the west loop) which meets on third Mondays. You'll find the details for any month's dinner on the Events calendar (right-hand column) by clicking on any 3rd Monday. From time to time, we also have regional gatherings in various parts of the state.

Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.

Did I see the word "nuke" in your post?  We've love the ride and our sailor is a submarine nuke.  He's been in almost 4 years now.  Just had a call that he MAY be able to come home in March since he worked all the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year's holidays (plus volunteered when the hurricanes came through.)

I'm a transplanted Hoosier.  See Kaye has been in touch with you.  I am so happy to have finally met her after talking to each other on the phone for at least a year.

    Hope all goes well!   Carol
