We have a Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll find everything you need to get started. Videos, PDF files of boot camp processing days, links to all the important groups plus tips on how to use this site. Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening. Be patient. Best part is it'll be here on your very own page as a reference. Click the MY PAGE tab on above menubar to access your page anytime - you should do it at least once a day to see if you have any postings on your comment wall (like this one). Good luck.

I see that you were able to find the groups...to look further into groups...check out the 'tabs' just under the Navy for Mom banner at the top of this page. You will see a tab that says 'groups'. Click on this and then you can search for just about anything. Congrats on his being in the performing division at boot camp.

Closing the Main Room in Chat will make the site run better.

To close it or rather disconnect, go to the far right box from the Main room. It has a green dot in it. Click it.

Another box will open directly above it that has a chack mark and says Connected to Chat. Click that. The green dot should turn red and you are now disconnected from Chat and the site should respond better.

Anytime you want to get on Chat, just click the box with the red dot and a box will appear above it telling you are disconnected...Click on the "Go online" and the dot will become green and you can open up the main room again.

If it is STILL slow...you can try a different browser. Sometimes IE users have some slowness...and they try Mozilla or Chrome.

To send a private message using the N4M PM system:

    Click "Inbox".

    The "Message" page will open.

On the far right next to the status box is "+Compose". Click it.

The Message page reopens but with a box that has all of your Friends, it says "Send To" next to it, on it and then the Subject/ Message area.

Check the box next to the friend you are messaging and then enter the Subject, your message and click send at the bottom.

Its always a good idea to double check who you have clicked before you send. Under the "SendTo" box on the right it will show how many you have selected.

You may select more than one friend at a time to send the same message too.

    The email message:

Messages sent this way have been sent as a group message to ALL the members of a group. These kind go to the personal email you have listed in your Settings...NOT the personal messaging system on N4M's. It is just a way to contact all the members of a group. But not many know how it works and don't use it. Also, some have changed there settings so that they do not receive emails from N4M's. You can do this in "Settings".

To fnd the Member in the email...

First...it will say it is from Navy For Moms if it is a group message to all the memebrs of a group.

    Then look for this:

A message from ##### (their username) to all members of ######## (the Group it is from) on Navy For Moms!

Now, you have their Username but you can't click it or anything to find them. So, I would go back to the group it is from and see if they have posted recently on it OR type it exactly how it is into the Search engine for N4M's in the blue bar at the very top of the page.
