I hope you get all the information here you are looking for. Please stop by the Survival Guide for New Moms for some of the info to start with.
If you have a new Recruit and need phone cards for them please check out Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE. I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp. The link above will take you to the website to send the email for the FREE phone cards if you need them. Please spread the word if you know of anyone who can use this great service!!!
Hello McKinsey's Mom. My name is Heather. I believe I was the lady that took a picture of you, your family, and McKinsey in Portland. My son also swore in on the 12th in Portland. If I am correct, McKinsey is going to be a Nuke.
i know it is really hard to figure out how to navigate this site. i think i "friended" you. my daughter left june 11 for boot camp. i was reading, (and probably wrong) that your daughter also left june 11? (still trying to figure it all out). but if it was you, you already had your daughter's info from recruiter? i was thinking about calling my daughter's recruiter. i think my husband would probably just say wait for the form letter...
oh and ps. we are in spokane wa... i see that you are in portland. if i'm wrong again, my apologies. we love seaside, usually go there once a year. probably not this year as it looks like we will be going to graduation. my daughter is going to be a corpsmen....
Hi McKinsey'sMom! Welcome to the group! My son Graduates in 10 DAYS!!! Yeah...I am pretty excited! I just wanted to comment on your statement about the pant legs being rolled up in your "Kid in the Box". So were my son's and I just couldn't figure it out. Until...I watched the Navy Boot Camp video. There is one quick flash where all the recruits have their pants legs rolled up and are stepping onto the special machine that measures their feet exactly just prior to receiving their tennis shoes. Then immediately after that, their civilian clother are stripped off and stuffed in the box for home. They don't even give them time to fold anything! Ha! It made sense after watching the video. It is on the home page here. Check it out. Welcome again! Glad you are here!
Hi McKinsey's Mom. My son is also on the same ship and division as your sailor. we are from Sacramento, CA. My son is also a Nuke. I also have another son who is also a Nuke and is also at GL! How did you find out your PIR date?
