Good evening byoung.  You're my first friend....haha.  I think I am what my kids call a stalker on this website.  I have spent hours searching and reading, but not commenting.  I saw where you had posted that your child ships the same date as mine and had intented on replying, just hadn't yet.  I see  you have twins.  Have both enlisted?

Hi byoung.  Actually I'm not creative at all.  I don't have a clue how I did that. Just snooping one night and clicked on something.

I can't imagine 2 children leaving for the military next summer.  I suppose you have always known, though, that they would leave around the same time, but into the military? Wow!  Interesting that one would go navy and one army.  We live in an area where the majority of young people go into the army or marines if they are enlisting.  I really wanted our son to go to college first, but this is what he wants.  I told him 4 years ago, you know, back when I thought this was a little boy's day dreams, that I didn't want to even hear about the marines or army.  He thought about the Marines briefly last year and thankfully, went with Navy.

What is your son job going to be?

I can understand your sons wanting to carve out their own place in life, but I imagine it will be tough on all of you.  I would think that is an incredible bond.

My son is aircrewman, ATF-AIRC.  I have read alot about it...probably alot more than him.  He was told he will go to Pensacola after boot camp.  Looks like your son probably will as well.  If they ship to BC same day, maybe they will be in same division.  They should probably both be in Pensacola at the same time.  My son already has the weather for Pensacola on his phone screen.

MEPS for my son is in St. Louis so I am assuming he will have to go back up to St. Louis and then fly out of there.  I didn't go with him the first time but we plan on being there to see him swear in and see him off in June.

What part of Ohio are you located in?

Hi byoung, are you still on here any?  If you are, how are you holding up?  We are both a little over 3 weeks now.  I'm just surviving by not thinking about it.  Is your son still leaving week of June 18th?

    ibhmom.

Yes it's hard.  I cry when my son is not around.  My husband is having a harder time than me it think because he won't talk about it and is trying to be "strong".  My son's ship date is still June 21st.  He leaves on the 20th to go to MEPS about 4 hours away and then ships from there on the 21st.  We plan on attending his swearing in, then a long drive back home.  I can't imagine what you are facing with both leaving this summer.

Are you sons doing okay with this?  My son doesn't want to talk about it much.  He says he is looking forward to it but also very apprehensive.  Hard to think after 18 years, our son's will just leave one day and belong to the Navy.

Hi, just getting your message.  We have been on one last family vacation.  We actually spend 2 days in Pensacola. Right in the middle of 13 inches of rain, we were driving to the base to see the museum.  We thought it would be a good way to "see" the area.  They don't really let you see the base but we came by the camp ground.  It was beautiful even though it was pouring rain.  I have cried quietly off and on all the way home today...10 1/2 hours. My boy seems excited which will definitely make it easier on me.  I'll pray for you, you pray for me.  "I can do all things though God who strengthens me".  We can do this byoung.
