Happy you for the welcome .my daughter gets out of the Navy in September. She just got engaged to a fellow sailor. she is in Greece and Jonathan is in Barain. I wish I had known about those free calling cards. I am so proud of her,she is working on her degree. Her Dad retired from The Marine Corp. Don't under estimate these young men and women,my Savannah had never made a bed, washed a dish, etc and she came th ru  bootcamp with flying colors.when I read your post ,she don't seem so far away.

Thank you for your post.  I have been on this site multiple times since our daughter decided to enlist.  She was sworn in on May 29th and is assigned to ship 02 div 937. We have received our kid in the box, the "I got here call" and her form letter.  I am waiting anxiously for a phone call, mainly just to hear her voice.

  • mamaj

Thank you so much for the information. My daughter arrived at Great Lakes boot camp 6-12-12. We received her phone call when she arrived there & received her box of stuff back. Really want to hear from her again and and have her address so we can write to her and try to keep her sprits up and our's too!

Thank you for the website and all the information it contains. My son too arrived at Great Lakes on the 12th. Receiving his things was a little more difficult than I imagined it would be. Really looking forward to hearing his voice in the next several weeks. Thanks again for the site and access to other Navy family members!

They sent her home to wait. I am guessing things are delayed because of the 4th. She was going to try the Cheif today to see if he had heard anything on her paperwork and how soon she would get back to RTC

My future son-in-law just graduated from boot camp and is currently in A school.  He received orders for Japan and will be leaving in August.  I am really worried that he is going to be in Japan for 4 years and what kind of pressure this is going to have on this young relationship.  How are we going to be able to figure out a wedding date and plan a wedding? He is undesignated and all of this info has me very concerned.  I try not to express my worries to my daughter and him.  I feel like I would feel better if I had more concrete answers!

  • sueqfrak

Hi,  I'm just now getting time to figure out my page on Navy for Moms.  Corey's recruiter is in Bakersfield.  No recuiters in Tehachapi, although we do have lots of kids join the military.

  • Dom'sMom ship2 Div914

Hi ronnie.. i would like to share a prayer with you and all the Moms on here!!!

Father, in the coming days, we will need you, but our recruits will need You more!
Let them perform their tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance.
Let their reflexes be quick and their hands steady.
Let their heads be clear and their eyes sharp.
Let their minds and bodies be strong and their spirits strong.

God, please stand by our recruits and watch their backs when they cannot!
Father, we love our recruits! Take from US; what they need and give us
    what they do not.

We will pace the nights, if it means they get some sleep.
We will deal with fatigue, if it means they have energy.
We will carry their fear, if it means it gives them courage.
We will take their pain, if it means their healthy and whole.
We will take their anger, if it means they are at peace.
Take our love and pride and let them feel it!
Let them know that we are with them every step of the way!
Please, take from us what You can; We give it willingly and with love.
It is all we have besides our prayers.
Above all, please help our recruits to achieve their goals of becoming....
    United States Sailors!

This I ask on bended knee, that which we cannot do without YOU Lord.

    Hi,

Corey left on July 3.  I just got his box two days ago.  Now I am anxiously awaiting the letter with his address and PIR date. I just wish time would go by a little faster.

  • michelle s (ship 11 div 214)

Yay! Lexie did it! She is done with bootcamp! Now on to bigger and better things...such as Quartermaster school!

  • michelle s (ship 11 div 214)

    enjoy your time with Dillon!

  • rdsimpson

Either I lost the first part of this message or it's just gone! Daughter-in-laws computer keyboard hasn't been beat to death by kids like mine! Thank you for the welcome-I look forward to adding more info, but probably not until after my grand-daughter is born! I'm doing baby watch while my son is in school-Both mom's (me & daughter's mother) are trading time so she doesn't have to be alone. Hopefully son will be home before due date!

  • Gramma

Thanks for the info, I am trying to follow my grandsons progress and the website you sent gives me lots of info.

He is not a new recruit.  He joined out of high school in 2009.  He is finally working after the training......he is a "Nuc" or "Glow worm" as an ex-navy guy told me while we were on vacation.  He said that they all really liked the "Glow Worms" as they were always helpful, hard-working, and had a positive attitude!  Sounds like my Marc.

  • Mama Be

I am always amazed to see how many young women and men from Kern and Tulare Counties are in the service.  Both my oldest son chose the Navy, one went greenside the other blueside.

  • Erika

thank you :) my boyfriend is in the navy. from Bakersfield stationed in Norfolk Virginia . I'm new to this. my mother in law actually recommended this website..
