Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening. Be patient. NOTE to moms: your emotions are going to go through some real highs and lows. It's all part of letting go. It would be unnatural for you not to feel a sense of loss, even though you are very proud. That loss is saying goodbye to his/her "childhood" and their dependence on you, as his/her "mom" - it's a role we have embraced from their birth. Does he have wisdom teeth or any other medical conditions. They pull wisdom teeth at BC which makes it a little rough when they are having ot do all the phyiscal conditioning. Make sure you have medical documentation if he has an preexisting conditions.    Oh..yeah..if he can get in wome shooting practice with a rifle and handgun that will give him an edge in firearms. Make sure he looks over his contract before he swears in to make sure there are no discrepancies becasue once he swears in it can't be changed.  If not it sounds like he is good to go.

Hi Karen, just saw your message from yesterday. Sad to say, my son is separating from the Navy soon. Just got a call from him yesterday. He is being separated for medical reasons. I'm not sad that he's returning home because I miss him very much. I'm extremely proud of him regardless of whether he is in the military or not. My title of "Navy mom" was very short-lived but I know everything happens for a reason and we will press forward from here. Best wishes to you and your family....take care!!

Yes, the recruiter will also pick my son up on the 10th and we will go to Boston to watch him swear in on the 11th as well.  I'll bet they may be in the same group.. what is his name?  My son is Jeff Geikie.  After BC he heads to SC for Nuke and Power School.  We'll need to keep in touch and maybe see each other at BC graduation :)  All the best to you as well and I'm sure we'll be chatting thru this whole process! LOL

HI Karen,

How are you doing today?  My son was just picked up and we will go watch him swear in tomorrow.  Last night was tough and this morning was tougher... but we will all get thru it together.  He and his sister were saying good byes this morning, it was a very bitter sweet moment ;)

Hi Karen,

Yes, MEPS was great.  Watched Jeff swear in, took a video of it and lots of pics.  I was a beautifuly sunny day and I am sure he had a great flight from Boston to Chicago.  I was hoping things weren't delayed too much at Logan since they were having a 9/11 tribute, but I guess it went smoothly.  I got my 5 second call last night, did you?  He said, Hi Mom, it's Jeff, I made it to Great Lakes, I love you, bye... then click! gone.... :)

I'm so sorry you didn't get your call.  If it's any concellation to you, mine was litterally 5 seconds and I didn't even get anything out of my mouth before he had hung up... except a "hello'' whent he phone rang, but I am sure it's just part of knowing that they are there.  I started some letters as well, can't wait to get the address.  I am kind of dreading the day that we get the "box", i think the tears will come again when that happens.

Hi Karen, My son Nigel is ship 13, division 366 also and will be going for Damage Control after boot camp.  Looking forward to getting to know others in same division.  Got his box tonight and I have to say I was excited to open itl brought me happiness just to look at his dirty clothes in the box.  That's a mom for you right?

i know im trying to stay calm and strong for him. its hard but ill be ok. but yea I have been writing and numbering  they are all ready to send out just waiting for the address, and i hope he dont get in trouble because he is going to get so many at one time... sister is great came home yesterday with her new baby boy =)

yes we definitely need to be in touch with each other.  I thought I was doing good until today.  I got his box and form letter on Monday.  I am totally comfortable with where he is and that he is safe.  I just want  to know that he is good mentally.  i am worried that he is sad.  If I knew he was okay mentally I would be good I think.  I just want to know he still has a sense of humor.
