If there is anyone else out there with a son/daughter going at the same time I would love to hear from you. Thank You to all the Navy families out there - you are all in my prayers.

Thanks so much, Ronny!  It's really wonderful to know there are people like you and the members of this group out there!  My son (from Natchez, MS) is in Boot Camp at Great Lakes right now.  He was able to call me when he got there, and he called again yesterday, but I missed his call!  I was on the road in a no coverage zone apparently, and it just breaks my heart!  Like many of the other members here, I miss him so bad!!  He's never really been away from home, and I've never been without him so it's a really big adjustment.  I am soooo proud of him, though!  I pray for all our Service members all the time!  Thanks, again!

thanks so much for welcoming me, you are wonderful person to have started the program for the phone cards. My friend had given him a calling card before he went to boot camp her son was in the Army so she knew he would need them. My son Travis is now on deployment on the  Ike. We were lucky enough to have him close to us while he went to school in NY. He had a great time there even thou school was hard and had 12 hour days. He was 2 hours away so we had the chance of meeting some of his fellow sailors. We are so proud of all of them. We now wait and look forward to his emails and can't wait for their safe return.  thanks for all you do, Donna

Hello Ronny, Thank you so much for my welcome and the information you provided.  I will visit the website for the free phone cards for my son.  He has not left for boot camp yet.  He leaves in May of this year.  I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as this will be our first time in military. I look forward to educating myself and getting familiar with what lies ahead for my son. Thanks again for your support!

Hi Ronny! Thank you for the nice note. My father was a Sailor for 20 years so I'm not totally unfamiliar but it has been a while. It is a bit different with your instead of your dad. I think the website is great and so informative!! It helps alot to know what to expect.

Thank you so much for the welcome and the information!  I have already had so many questions answered but each day I think of more.  My son leaves in July for BC, at this time I'm okay, but I am accepting I might be a mess in July.  I am so thankful and feel so blessed by the support I've already received here.  I will be going to the website to get my son phone cards.

Thank you Ronny.... you are my first contact with NavyMoms.  I am really struggling right now. My son graduates May 10th.  I was wondering how a mom can meet up with other moms who also have a graduate for the same date.  I so want to go but thought maybe I could connect with another mother who may want to share a rental car or something.  I cant imagine not being there when he graduates.

  • MisMav

Thank you!  My son left in Feb. for basic training.  It has been harder than i thought it would be.  He is greatly missed. He has been told his A school will be in San Antonio. His Father and Great GrandFather both were in the Navy...so he has heard a few stories.  And now making some of his own.  I am so proud of him.

  • AmyIN

Thanks for  your comment.  Will look into the calling cards, thank you.  My son is the first of our family to go Navy, though both his grandfathers served in the Army during the draft years.  Looking forward to hearing from my son... looking forward to following him in all his new experiences.  I appreciate the support!

  • oneproudmomca

Hi Ronny! Thank you for the warm welcome.  My son is graduating this Friday and then off to his training as a Aviation Rescue Swimmer.  He is the first to go into the Navy, his grandfather was in the Army Air Borne Div.  He is really excited to be graduating.  We cannot wait to see him, we miss him so much.  Thanks again for the warm welcome!

  • retherforddonna 09/149

Thank You for the welcome.  I sent my SR the free phone cards, Thank You Very Much for them!  My SR has not been able to make a phone call since I sent them.  She has two weeks left at Boot Camp.  In my last letter I ask her to give what she doesn't use to someone before she leaves, so they can use them.  Thank You very much for everything!

  • Dania

Thank you so much for the welcome and the great information. It's wonderful to see so many Mom :) on this forum. I look forward to being a part of such a great group of people.

  • narob01

Wow, my first comment! My son doesn't leave for basic training until September. Then he will start training for EOD.  I am very proud of him and his determination to do good for his country an in the world. He has already served his country doing two years in Nicaragua with the Peace Corps. His decision to join the military was a bit of a shock. We  have no military experience in our family so I am quite lost. Along with the fact that his choice is so frightening. I am very thankful for the support of navyformoms.com as I learn my new roll of 'Navy Mom'. Thank you for your welcome.

  • CatMom509

    Hello Ronny!!

I am so happy that you won the Heart of Gold contest on Facebook!  I tirelessly posted and re-posted the link for it!  Thanks for sending all the calling cards for my Navy daughter.  She just classed up to Bravo group at Pensacola for her IT rating.  Today is her first day starting classes at 15:00 and ending at midnight.  Wondering how she will get through it as she is normally an early bird!!

  • lasersailor

Thanks for the welcome. My daughter has started college and was applying for a NROTC scholarship but she has too many college credits. Those credits came from her high school/community college program. She might apply for a 2 year NROTC later.  My father was a Mustang and retired after 30 years. I'm a ring-knocker retired with 17 years. My wife is retired Navy also. We were all brown shoes.

    Hi Ronny,

Thank you so much for the welcome note, it was very much appreciated. This whole "military thing" is brand new for me.  My daughter is in bootcamp right now.  We are very close and I miss her terribly.  I does help to have this site to just feel support and also struggle from other women who are in the same situation.  I could not be more proud of my daughter, but again, this is brand new for me. I have never , not spoken to my daughter daily, her 19 years of life. I will contact your group for the phone cards.  I received a call from Free (my daughter) on Friday of last week.  I missed the first call which came Tuesday, I was heart broken.  You know how Mom's can be, I beat myself up for not having my phone with me for that 45 min period that the call came in.  I 'm rambling. I would simply like to say, Thank you for reaching out. Peace.

  • Lilly

Thanks for the welcome note and information! Yes my son just left for boot camp in The Great Lakes on the 25th of March! So very proud of him. I have pretty good information on military, as to my dad was in the Air Force. That's an awesome thing on the free phone calling cards, it's greatly appreciated!

Ronny, Thank you so much for the email and this website! I was so lost and relying on the information from my son... May GOD BLESS you and all SAILORS!

  • Jsmom

    Hi Ronny,

My name is Pam and my son is leaving for basic on the 1st of April.  I have to admit, it's killing me, but at the same time I'm excited for him.  He's going into the nuke program.  He's never been away from me for longer than a week, and knowing that I won't be able to get in touch with him is driving me crazy.  How do you deal with this?  We're have a "send-off" party for him tomorrow.  I am very proud of him and support the decision he has made.  He's always loved being a "team" player and I honestly believe he'll do well, it's just hard as a mom letting your first born go.  I know this is a great start to the next chapter of his life, but even knowing that doesn't help how I feel.

  • cassidy26

Thank you! I will def let you know if I have any questions, which Im sure I will once he gets to A school :)

  • sandi88

you have a wonderful family and those pictures are very encouraging. Thank you very much for all your information and if its ok I will be asking alot of questions I have no idea what I'm in for and my family only that we know he is leaving in May 27 to Chicago and dont know what to expect. I just have alot of mixed emotions but one that I know is that I'm a Very Proud Mom. Thank you for the information you have given me and I shared it with my son and he is very happy you contacted me. Thank you again hope to hear from you soon.

  • Bethin NY (Ship 11 025)

Thank you so much for the welcome :)  Brand new here.  Our Boy (?Man) has really just started the process.  He took his AVSAB & got his scores.  Physical will be this coming week.  It's all a little overwhelming to be honest.  He is our youngest, so I am having alot of mixed feelings about all of this.  Of course, I am 100 % proud, mixed with quite a bit of nervousness and a little sadness that he will be leaving home , probably not to return as our Boy ever again.  Once he goes to Great Lakes, he will belong to the US Navy, not to us anymore.

Enough of that, I guess.  Thank you again for the welcome words.  Have a nice Easter!

  • aircrewmanmom

Thank you Ronny for your welcome words.  I feel very honored to have a son who wants to serve his country.  He left for Boot Camp this week.  With the heart of a mother it left me a little overwhelmed with emotions.  I am so thankful for you and your family service and proud to be a mother of a Navy son.  Thank you for your support.

I already thought of a question....My daughter will go from boot camp to A school in Pensacola, FL.  From what I understand she will graduate on May 17th then fly out on the 18th to Florida.  Do you know which airport they fly out of? I was hoping we could fly home out of the same airport.  Thank you so much!

  • Bonnie

Thanks Ronny for the welcome aboard. Your very kind to let me know about the calling cards. I am sure he would really appreciate it! I am so new to this and I am sure as I go along I will have a ton of questions for you.  Happy Easter!
