Hello! I'm in Portage, too! My oldest is stationed in Japan. You probably saw the "Welcome Home Trevor Noffsinger" signs on Willowcreek and Rt 6 in April! He went to basic training August 2011. All I can say, is that you learn along the way, but it doesn't get any easier. It did however, warm my heart to know that there's another Navy mom so close!
Trevor is in Japan. It had been a year and a half since we had seen him. When they are on base, it's much easier. It's nice to be able to facebook all the time. Trevor is assigned to the ship, not the base. He is out to sea 6 months, every year. That is when it gets tough. When they are out to sea, they are without the luxury of facebook, skype, and all the little things us moms depend on. The guys are also so busy during that time, they wouldn't have time to do it anyway. We never get to know where they are going, until after they are there. You'll get strange calls like "Hi, I'm in South Korea". The Navy mom's site is so supportive - you'll love it!
