Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Since you have an SR at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

From your comment it appears that he signed up with the PACT program, so he won't have "A" School for a while, but he will have training and most likely that is at GL since E-PACT and S-PACT both have their training there. See Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) Program.

    You are very welcome.

Whatever he signed up for is what he will have for the next couple of years. It's Fireman, but it's not fireman like one would think of in the civilian realm, it's more of engineering, but yes, I agree he's probably S-PACT. Yes, he should be able to tell you which program he enlisted with. His recruiter can also tell you.

    You are very welcome.

Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) beginning with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile); you may want to make changes 3 and 4. Where is he going to be stationed at?  There are several of bases in San Diego, but the most common is 32sd street. Also there are a few bases that are close to not so good areas so you might want to concider that.  What price range are you looking to pay and what size apartment are you looking for? If you haven't lived in California before brace yourself the cost of living is high... but well worth it.  It's a great place to live, and so much to do.  What's not to love we have pandas..

Actually Imperial Beach is very affordable.  Its about 15-20 minutes from 32sd street 10 mins from Coronado and North Island. Its one of the more calm beach areas.  It use to be slummy there but now it's really nice they have redone everything.  The waves are nice there too.  Word of advice do not move to National City.  It's where 32sd street is located.  It's got a lot going on and not really good.

one bedrooms range from 750-900 in a bad area 700... The extra pay is worth being safe.

Imperial Beach is a little calmer than most of the other beaches.. Pacific Beach is a young crowd and party party party. Mission Beach is heavy traffic areas so be ware. Ocean Beach is a nice area but not very close to the base.  When you decide on an area let me know and can tell you more about the area.

Ok its in National City.. u dont want to live there.. also all surounding areas are ghetto. Chula Vista in 10 mins south imperial beach is 15 mins coronado is 10 but expensive
