So we're 3 years into this military life thing. I've met a lot of people, and everyone has taught me something. We've learned a lot, currently going through deployment #2.
I am here to support my
Spouse/Significant other
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Needed to learn more about it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Be FLEXIBLE! Anything can change and it probably will. Be STRONG. He needs to know you're okay when he walks out the door to do his job. Be YOU! You are not defined by his job. Have hobbies, interests, things you enjoy, things you work for. Then you have something to talk to your spouse about at the end of the day. It gets boring if he's the only one with a life.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
You will find this site very helpful and full of members who are eager to answer your questions. Browse around the site and check out the forums, groups, blogs, photos, videos, and even the other member profiles!
I hope you get all the information here you are looking for. Please stop by the Survival Guide for New Moms for some of the info to start with.
If you have a new Recruit and need phone cards for them please check out Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE. I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp. The link above will take you to the website to send the email for the FREE phone cards if you need them. Please spread the word if you know of anyone who can use this great service!!!
(Please excuse my lateness in welcoming you. Have been visiting our sailor.)
We are happy to have you on the Navy for Moms site. You are invited to join either the Illinois or Missouri family page as listed below. It is a great way to find families in your area and even help plan meet and greets. We also have some packing parties for our troops overseas getting together.
Looking forward to hearing from you in one of our groups!
Be sure and let me know if you have any questions!
PS. Feel free to “cruise” my page and see if there are any other groups that interest you. One of my passions is supporting our deployed troops. Check out http://www.navyformoms.com/group/mollysadoptasailorproject and see if it is a group you may like to join.
Thank you so much for getting that for me. I was so sad when I read that but it makes sense that not everyone has family and I would love to make some new ones to add to mine. I will do this on my lunchbreak today. This is going to be great!!
Congrats on your new sailor. I hope that A school goes well for him! Once he has been assigned his ship, you can join the FRG (Family Readiness Group for his ship) and become active in this organization. I think I read where you are a SAHM...Stay active with your children. They will miss him as much as you do! Volunteer at a (their) school. Most all of his deployments will be 6-9 months then home again for a couple of months, with watch standing, then back to sea. So you will have some time with him, just not 24/7, 365 days a year, but there are benefits. My best to you and Yours!
Hi Jenn, I don't want to continue this conversation on the group wall! So I he routed a chit to receive BAH where I am located, and it has been approved, will the VHA zip code change when the paper work is processed or will that stay the same on his LES regardless?
I am in San Diego & his command is Norfolk but while they are deployed I am staying in San Diego. He's already gotten approval to continue receiving San Diego BAH for the deployment. But we are not even receiving Norfolk BAH according to his LES.... And I don't know who to talk to about this or I I can even talk to anyone about this, considering I'm just the spouse, his command is deployed so I don't know if there is anyone else at the base who I can speak to anyway, and I'm also across the country and can't go in person anyway.
