MommyLisa, Yes, you are totally normal and it is very normal to have those feelings. My daughter was recently deployed on the USS Harry S Truman and I had those feelings then too. It is an emotional rollercoaster, but I am so proud of her and she is so happy that it all trumps those feelings! You are strong and she needs you to be strong too. She will be emotional (my daughter cried starting at 4:30am the day she was deploying), It is scary to go off to a place where you know few people (or for boot camp no one) but you have to stay strong and cry in private. Don't be afraid to cry, just not in front of your daughter! This will make her so much stronger and more independent and that is what we raised them to do...go out on their own and become their own person. Anytime you need anything feel free to holler. Stay strong and allow yourself to feel what you feel.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) beginning with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile); you may want to make changes 3 and 4. Arrival and What Happensat the RTC will let you know what is happening. Since you have an SR at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."  What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor is an MA. Join San Antonio MA's; the discussion, Break down week by week, will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio). You will also want to join MAA Moms. Other groups to check out are New MAA Mom's (it has not been very active, but is picking up lately) and Security Sailors (it is not as active and includes loved ones of Sailors from other ratings as well). The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.
