Yeah Julie...it was a little harder than I expected as well....since the girls only left a day apart I wonder if they will PIR together. My girl is going in as an ABH..Aviation Boatswain's Mate Handler. What about your daughter? Em is 19... She did this all on her own, she said she wanted me to be proud if her and didn't want her life to go nowhere! I am very proud and can't wait for her to start her new journey! Oh..by the way my name is Sherry.

Julie...I can try...I am not on this one as much as N4M Facebook page....I have read and learned so much on there.I kind of toggle back and forth. ...once you get your letter with her address, ship name and PIR dates you will be able to have more info, you will start seeing other moms post the same info and you will be able to share info.....are you by chance on Facebook....if so go to Navy For Moms...it is a closed group ans it is just moms on there....from kids being in DEP to being deployed. ...does this help any?

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect while you have a recruit and to help you prepare for PIR. Since you have an SR at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted." Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. You may also want to check out Mom’s of Navy Daughters, Mom's of Daughters 2, and Women in the Navy. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Thanks for responding Julie, I feel your pain. Stay strong and pray everyday. it's really going to be ok. My son left 2 weeks ago and I am so anxious to talk to him. Take care!

Hi Julie! Did you hear from your daughter? Just heard from my son and it made my day:) He sounded amazing except for a bad cold or respiratory infection? I will sleep good tonight:)
  • Austin's mom

Hi Julie!!! Have you heard from Kayla? I have been praying that you have heard from her:)
  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Yes, her graduation is set for October 18th, now that I received the form letter it seems so close.  So because I'm kind of a worrier, it is hard to decide what is the best choices to make for the trip to Chicago.

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Yes, I did book at the Navy Lodge.  Now I'm trying to figure out what airline and which airport to arrive at.  So far I'm looking at Southwest and Midway.  Its all new to me, I never travel anywhere.  And from California it is expensive.

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

My daughter's name is Kaylina.  She is my middle kid, and has always been a go getter.  She was eager to start her Navy career.  I miss her, but I know she is doing what makes her happy.

  • szycrmchezy

My daughters name is Stephanie.  I will also include your daughters name when I write my next letter.  It is so great to have support.  I am praying for strength for our girls.

  • szycrmchezy

    Hey Julie,

I dont think we will get a call for another week perhaps.  I still have not gotten a personal letter but hopefully today or tomorrow.  When my daughter left I sent her with a calling card and she still has it, meaning it did not come back in her box.  Hope you are handling things ok.  I have not booked travel yet but maybe this weekend I will.  Where will you be coming from?  Im in Panama City, FL.

  • szycrmchezy

I don't know about pics on facebook but I check it every day just in case, LOL!  You never know.

  • szycrmchezy

    Hey Julie,

Hope your day is off to a great start.  Have you heard anything from Kayla?

  • szycrmchezy

    Hello Julie,

Not sure about who gets phone calls, when and why.  My daughter told me that she had about an hour to make calls and she actually called me, her dad at work and her best friend.  I dont think there is any rhyme or reason to how things work in boot camp unfortunatley.  I will be praying that Kayla gets to make a call home!!!

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

I just wanted to tell you that I got a letter from my daughter today, and she mentioned that she knows your daughter.  My daughter thought is was neat how we met here on Navy For Moms and how they know each other.

  • Julie

Hi HDShortysmama thanks for sharing that information it brings so much comfort to my heart knowing that our daughters are together in BC. Have you gotten a call from your daughter. I keep praying I get a call from Kayla soon. I am really looking forward to meeting you in October. God bless julie
  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Yes, I did get a call on Saturday from Kaylina.  She dated her letter September 8.  I'm sure you will be getting a call from Kayla soon.  I'm sad to say I won't be at the graduation, because my son has school.  He just started high school.  Also, financially it would be very difficult.  However, Kaylina's dad will be there and her sister Jessica will be there too.  They will be staying at the Navy Lodge.  So if you see a man and a short girl, (she's 20), that will be them.  Both my girls are under 5 feet tall.  Hopefully, we can take a picture of Kayla and Kaylina standing together at the graduation.  Also, I sent you a friend request :)

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Kaylina didn't mention how the division is doing, but she did say the people there are really nice.  Also, if you haven't checked it out, there is a picture on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command facebook page of div 396.  My daughter is in the picture, maybe your daughter is in it too :)  Hang in there, graduation is very close.

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Yeah, Kaylina said she has her ups and downs, but she is settling in.  And having nice people around does help.  I'm so happy that you got letters from Kayla today.  Did you happen to see the picture of Div 396?

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

Here is the link to the picture.  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151805072454651&set=a...

    Hi Julie,

I'm so happy you got to hear from your daughter Kayla :)

  • HDShortysMama

    Hi Julie,

That would be wonderful if Kayla and Kaylina could be roommates when they get to A-school.  Kaylina's dad will be at the graduation and her sister Jessica will be there too.  They will be staying at the Navy Lodge.  So if you see a man and a short girl, (she's 20), that will be them.  Both my girls are under 5 feet tall.  Hopefully, we can take a picture of Kayla and Kaylina standing together at the graduation.  God Bless Lisa

  • DavidsNavyMom (Ship 11 Div 396)

Hi Julie,  I am doing good thanks, how about you??  No my last name is not Wyatt it is Garcia so my son would be SR Garcia, he is Div 396 is that the Div your daughter is?  My son is the mail guy and he is the one who carry's the flag, so if she is the same Div then she probably does know him.  I have not been on this site much because I have joined the Navy 4 moms facebook page. only 3 weeks left of bootcamp what a wild ride this has been!  I can't wait to get that phone call that says "I'm a sailor".   Well let me know if your daughter is the same as my son.

  • HDShortysMama

Hi Julie,  I'm doing okay, yeah, but I have my ups and downs too.  Sometimes it will be so unexpected, that all of a sudden I will feel sad that I haven't seen my daughter in so long.  And I won't see her when she graduates from boot camp either.  I'll have to wait until after A-school to see her, around the holidays I think.  It's hard not knowing how she is really doing over there.  But I just pray for her, write encouraging letters to her, and staying strong for her the best that I can.  I got letters from her today, so that's as close to her as I'm going to get for now.  How are you doing today, and how is Kayla doing?  I hope you got a letter from her too.  God Bless Lisa

  • HDShortysMama

Hi Julie, I do the same thing, I tell Kaylina to always pray, and know that God is with her keeping her strong.  And I do send Kaylina bible scriptures that are talked about from our church.  She really enjoys that cause I think it makes her feel that she is still with us on Sundays.  I hope you hear from Kayla soon.  Just three more weeks, and you will get to see her, Yay!  God Bless, Lisa
