Mother of 6 . Work as an RN. My oldest son joined navy. Left for Navy boot camp 8/21. He is also recently married this year. Lots of changes for my son in less than a year.!
Welcome toBoot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Either way, your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
my son is graduating 10/18 also. so excited. hope to continue to use this site and figure out easier way. i cannot seem to connect with a lot of people for this graduation date. thanks for posting

Yes, you have a Recruit.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.
You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and PIR Reference Information. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups. The Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), will help you with the new lingo.

I'm confused. Is your SR going to "A" School for Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ)? If so, join, or at least check out, Moms of the Aviation Maintenance Administrators AZ, Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi, and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. You will also want to check out NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for LS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/az.pdf.
OR is he going to “A” School for Aviation Electronics Technician (AT), which has in Pensacola, FL at Naval Air Station Pensacola? If so, join Aviation ElectronicsTechnician (AT), Avionics Technicians (AV) Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AT can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/at.pdf and there is additional information at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/av.pdf.

The Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will be of interest to you since you have a recruit in a performing division. I believe that Division 949 is Ship Staff/Honor Guard.
