Hi Deb!  Yes we should definitely keep in touch through this whole process and lean on eachother for support through the tears... I am having a very hard time as well and it probably will not get much easier.  I am happy to hear you received your "scripted" call from your son and know he is there.  My son leaves Sunday for his recruiters office, then to the hotel and he will Swear In Monday morning (which I will be attending).  Then he will be gone and I will be crying my eyes out!  He is in for 3 years (I believe) but he is hoping for a Special Warfare contract and that will probably require him to stay in longer - but I am not sure how it all works.  This is what he has wanted since he was little.  I saw on one of your posts that your sons father had passed away?  My sons father passed away also.  My son was only 6 (and his little brother was 4) when he lost his dad and it hasn't been easy but he is a great young man and his dad would be so proud of him!  I am sure your son knows that as well and knows his dad is with him every step of the way.  I am here for you!!  :)

I see you have joined MAA Moms; Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor is an MA. Join San Antonio MA's; the discussion, Break down week by week, will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio). Other groups to check out are New MAA Mom's (it has not been very active, but is picking up lately) and Security Sailors (it is not as active and includes loved ones of Sailors from other ratings as well). The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Hey Bird Mom...i can relate...i have 6 days till my son leaves for boot camp and I am trying to be very strong...the good thing is that his best friend left to boot camp July 11 and he just called his mom this Saturday and said he was doing fine and that he likes it...so that was encouraging...stay strong...he will be fine...but as for missing him...i know i will miss my son very much especially because we have always been so close...keep us posted...

i was beginning to think that no one on here was associated with ship 13 div 363. everyone was close to those numbers but not the same although i notice there is a lot of div with same pir date.

Just checking on you and hope you are doing ok!  :) It looks like our sons have the same PIR, just not the same Division.  I have not heard from him at all yet but I am anxiously waiting for a letter or a call.  Have you heard anything yet??

  • ZWB/Kathy

I sent you a friend request. Our boys left together to start this journey. I guess they played little league together years ago. It seems they are in"brother" divisions.
