Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)
If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.

I will be praying for him...:)

My son heard from his recruiter and she said she should have his medical waiver next week.  So it gives us hope that his waiver is in the works, from the way she worded her text.  We started this adventure in January, so can not wait for him to be able to say for sure that he is joining the Navy.  The not knowing for sure is very hard.  So praying for great news next week and a date that he leaves for boot camp.  Hope everyone else is doing well as you wait for your SR to leave for boot camp.

Hi FLmom, I had a busy weekend, sorry that I didn't get to you sooner. Definitely we can stay connected through this journey. I hope that I can keep it together.

Hi FLmom, Just reading your comment puts tears to my eyes, This past weekend, the family went camping @ Arcadia Peace River. He loved it. I also have mixed emotions. I try to keep it to myself, but it's hard. I told my son about you and your son. It would be nice to know, his not the only one from Florida. He is going to freeze over there. He has never seen snow or experience that type of weather. I have a feeling I'm going to be a mess when he leave, but we will be there for each other :) Enjoy the rest of the week. I will be @ the airport w/ him. Maybe we'll meet?

The Rating Information card for RP can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/rp.pdf. Your (then) Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Thanks Lemonelephant. I change status to enlisted.

FLmom I just received "The Kid in a Box". Have you gotten your son's belongings yet?

  • Stevensmom

Oh wow! What town did he leave from?

  • Stevensmom
