I have four children and five grandchildren. Two of my boys are in the military. My oldest is a doctor in the Army and my youngest is a Corpsman - joined the Navy in February 2014.

Hollie.. Corpsman is a great field. I was a Navy Corpsman for 4 years and my husband was for 20. He retired as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Now has a fantastic job in the civilian world.
Hi, thankyou! I will have to take some time to look thru this site before he leaves in May! My husband and I just had our first grandbaby yesterday, a boy. My mind is a little preoccupied to look at this site right now, but I will!

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Since your SR has a contract for Hospital Corpsman (HM), sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
