Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name, you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. Also make change 3 while you are there. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes. Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP code to one that is not easily associated with your recruit.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January. You will meet others with loved ones leaving this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.  Be sure to join your PIR group once you get The Form Letter.

Since your recruit will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.

    Welcome Nicole!

I see you joined us over at Nuke Mom's!  We are a friendly group with lot's of valuable info.  Make sure to look at our discussion forum. Hit "view all".  Especially important is "Your Sailor's Schedule Upon Arrival to GC".  Feel free to ask any questions you might have.  My son just passed his oral boards on Monday and will be graduating prototype on 1/23!  He got orders to the USS Truman in VA.
