Navy4Moms is an invaluable resource for support and friendship! Write to your Recruit as often as you can!!! Mail is everything to them in boot camp!! Practice OPSEC! Understand what it is and police others that are not using it. Silence is Security.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Hi, Welcome to Navy for Mom’s. You will find lots of support, advice, information, and friends here!! All you have to do is read, read, read!!
I would like to invite you to join the group of moms from Texas!! We are the largest state group on this site!! (Everything is bigger in Texas - including Navy Moms)!!
Just go to the groups tab and type in Texas in the search box. The icon of the group is the state of Texas, of course!! If you can’t find that, click on my picture to the left and it will take you to my page. You can find the same icon there. Just click on it and you can join us!!
Please leave a short message about where you live and what your sailor is doing.
My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - he is headed to Kuwait (last orders - things do change) sometime this summer.
Dear Momma McGee:
Welcome to N4M’s!
My name is Catherine the Admin and I want to thank you for joining us! To help you know the “Do’s and Don’ts” for the community- I wrote up a quick little ditty for you to read. So click here and read them(pretty please with a cherry on top because the rules are enforced)! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns afterwards- please don’t hesitate to contact me.
So, enjoy your time here and I'm looking forward (along with the community) to reading more about you. :D
Sincerely, Catherine
Kathy, just wanted to welcome you to the AE/CF group. I cannot even imagine have two in boot camp at the same time...especially my daughter! Our son left us in Feb. and is currently in A school as an FC. Which one of your children is going into AE/CF? Do you know they rate as of yet? My husband spent 10 years as an FC so we are delighted that our son is going in the same path. If you have questions, please let us know.
The Gurnee Grand Hotel and Suites. They had one Flinstones room left last night. The website is http://gurneegrandhotel.com. It's just over 10 miles from base.
Wow, you are gonna be busy with two PIR's in a row. Is Sara or Tyler going to be the Et/Fc? So weird, I wonder if your son wishes he could watch over his sister, but can't if they are not the same division. /week of PIR.
Does anyone know if there is a Navy4Dads somewhere out there? I'm going to search, but if anyone knows of a good site for Navy BC Dads, please let me know! Thanks!
Brenna you're funny! Meet and Greet is a get-together the night before graduation when everyone has (hopefully) gotten into town. Ours is going to be at a restaurant called Flanagan's at 7:30. Go to the top an dgo to the top of the page and click on the "Events" tab. Scroll down to the "Meet and Greet for PIR 9/5" and just RSVP! Since we can't see our Sailors until after graduation, a bunch of us are going to get together for dinner and conversation to talk about our Sailors! I hope you and your party can make it! The more the merrier! If you're talking to anyone else that you know if graduating on 9/5, have them go and RSVP! Really, just about all the graduations have one :)
Wow - two in GL at the same time!!! AWESOME!!
What are you going to do - spend two weeks in Chicago - that would be cheaper than coming home and going back!!!
What made them both join at the same time - are they the same age? What are their plans for the Navy? My son started thinking about SEAL's but changed his mind during boot camp. He is a MA now and in Kuwait.
Keep in touch!!!

Hi Kathy,
How are you? I have been praying for you gies. My Mom has too. I'm sending another card to Ty and wanted to check in for an update. Take care and God bless you gies.
Kathy, so excited for you!!! The seasoned moms kinda relieve PIR each Friday. Enjoy a fabulous weekend with Sarah Jane and if she needs help settling in or has questions, let us know and perhaps we can connect the two. She looks awfully cute - Nick might be happy to carry her seabag!!! LOL, have fun - it's a memorable weekend!
Kathy, When did your son PIR? My son PIRs on 11-14. He is excited to get started with GM A school. Sounds like he may have a wait. What has Ty been doing while on hold for GM? Glad to see he will be home for Christmas. I would love to hear from you.
Thanks so much for thinking about me. Cleaning, fun. I wonder if our boys will be in the same class. Wonder how many are in one class. Isn't there some two week indoc types classes they take leading up to A school? Nice to hear about liberty. Does Ty have a phone, computer, video game, tv, what with him? How is this ship he is on now? I heard from one Mom whose son was on hold that he moved to several different ships. Some were nice others were horrible. Can't wait for Friday. It is strange I am crying at the drop of a pin just like I was when he first left. I just wanna get there and see him. I will definitely let you know how the weekend went. Thanks again.
Kathy, please accept my friend request so we can message each other rather than leave public comments. Our weekend was all I dreamed it would be. I hated leaving Matt again but have high hope it won't be long until we see him again. He is supposed to move to the other side on Wednesday. What is Ty doing now? Still cleaning or has he started one of the classes?
Kathy, Thanks for the comment. Matt finished ATT yesterday. Today wen to the A school and put in his dream sheet. Not sure when he will start A school. Thought it was interesting that he put in a dream sheet before starting classes. I have missed chatting with you. I always look when I am on aol to see if you are on or not. What is Ty up to? How much longer does he have? What did he put on his dream sheet? When Matt was telling me what he put down it hit me once again, this kid really is gone. Every once in a while it hits me up side the head. Somedays I feel like he is at school at will be home around 4:00. Weird isn't it?
You are very welcome. I didn't know about it either until recently.
If you happen to notice someone who needs to make the change, let them know how to change it, point them to one of the discussions I started about this (such as http://www.navyformoms.com/group/newmomsstophere/forum/topics/if-yo...), or send them to me. Blessings to you and yours.
