Since you have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last.
Those who have signed a 6 year contract for AEF will have Apprentice Technical Training (ATT) at GL after PIR for about 6 weeks and then will go to San Diego, CA to the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center for “A” School. Those who have signed for less than 6 years will go straight to San Diego the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you plan your weekend.

If you know your recruit's PIR date, go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. If you don't know the PIR date, join the group, Leavin' for bootcamp in October, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.
I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening.

The Rating Information Card for STG can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/stg.pdf and https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/stgaef.pdf (STG AEF). (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
